No sign of fading. Held up over 2 nights. More French-styled and restrained than most Prides. Lots of cedar, tobacco and graphite.

Really excellent. Very harmonious. Won't be mistaken for french but one of the top Cali chards I've had in recent memory. Not close to being OTH but probably won't get better either.

Took to birthday dinner for dad at Stella Mare. No detailed note but showing well. Paired well with the classic french dishes -- cassoulet, duck breast, etc. Not in danger of falling apart but won't get any better.

Hollywood Bowl -- Beethoven and pinot. Good combo. Consistent with earlier bottle. Not OTH but no reason to hold.

Accompanied grilled salmon with bourbon maple glaze. Yummy. Still holding well. That said, I will be drinking the last bottle soon.

Not sure if its lost a bit of fruit or never had it. Smooth, with hints of menthol and tobacco. Throws a lot of sediment.

Took to dinner so no detailed note. Very unlike WS, big and jammy, almost like a Kosta Browne or some of the more extracted pinots. Very nice though not what I expected.

Definitely on the downhill side of its peak. Still a nice spicy nose and rich mid-palate but with a bit of a raisiny finish.

Still strong. Nose of graphite and tobacco. Similar attack. Opens with a little air to a strong mid-palate and a rich, chocolately finish. Doesn't seem in danger of heading over the hill but no reason not to drink up.

Holding up well. A bit of barnyard funk mixes with spice on the nose but the funk does not carry through on the palate. Seems just a bit closed and didn't open up too terribly much over the course of 2 hours. Still, quite rich and nice.

A little green when opened. Nose of sandalwood and spice. Similar flavor profile. A little lean and austere, more burgundian than WS usually is. Doesn't seem to be OTH but don't know that it will get better.

Wow. I usually drink my Kistlers with a little more age on them but this was handy and I figured it wouldn't be infanticide. Too tired to take detailed notes but this was fantastic. Good cut, typical Kistler notes of butterscotch, hazelnuts, and lanolin on the nose and the palate and a very long finish. Bummed I only bought one. I'm sure it will last awhile but why wait. I may have to rethink my hold for 7 or 8 plus years strategy.

Great accompaniment to first (and maybe last at that price) Copper River King salmon of the season. Not a detailed note but very dense color, nose and flavor profile. No sign of aging and took a little to fully blossom so I'd say no hurry on this one. Alcohol was a bit noticeable. Too bad that was the only bottle.

Golden hue, slightly cloudy. Lanolin and glycerin on the nose, promises some weight on the palate. Very Kistler-like attack, with hazelnuts, a little spice, pineapple and a long finish. Best Aubert I've had.

Took for a belated birthday dinner at Cucina Allora. Holding up very well and was excellent accompaniment to a diverse meal of mushroom soup (me), mushroom ravioli (her -- ok, the apps weren't so diverse), pork medallions with porcini cream sauce (me) and swordfish a la putanesca (her). No detailed note but very smooth and rich (no fruit bomb here) with no rough edges, a full midpalate, and a nice lingering finish with only a hint of heat from the 14+% alcohol.

Holding up nicely but won't get better so drink up.

This has put on weight and flavor since last tasting in 2009. Expressive nose of sassafras and other spice carries through on palate, joined by black fruits and a rich sweetness. Just a hint of drying tannin and finishes well, if a bit short. Very nice.

Was worried this might be OTH and shocked to see that WS says it will last to 2020. Color me surprised. Not a hint of oxidation or "jeez, this would have been nice 5 years ago."

Give it a solid 90. Nice round flavor profile, with apples and tropical fruit flavors. Acids muted. Opens with air and warmth. Held up and even improved during the maybe 90 minutes it was open. Not typical meursault in my limited experience but quite nice.

Great deep color, no bricking. Classic bordeaux nose with slight dustiness. Similar flavor profile. Well balanced, nice sweetness in the midpalate. Excellent QPR. Wish I'd bought 3 cases instead of one. Can't imagine it will get better but also in no danger of falling apart anytime soon.

Second day: Has put on weight and roundness. Almost California like with hints of cocoa on the palate, though the nose still has some unmistakable french funk

Like the Bousselots, a little tight on the opening. Nose somewhat muted but hints of spice and red fruits. Similar flavor profile. Also like the Bousselots, blossoms with air. Very feminine and subtle. Very nice but I think I prefer the Bousselots by a nose (get it?).

Deep color, nose of plums, spice, and cocoa. Smells a little hot and the alcohol is listed at 15.3. It wears it pretty well, though I can feel the heat after what otherwise is a long, smooth 30 second aftertaste. Black fruits on the palate, jammy, with more chocolate. Drinking very nicely but I can't help thinking picking a little earlier might have resulted in a more food friendly and classic syrah.

On opening, closed nose and predominantly lemon on palate. With air, opens nicely. Some earth/mushroom notes on the nose, and pineapple, apple appears on the palate. Does not show its age. Too bad its a split, because it won't last the 90 minutes needed to see where it might go! Excellent now but conceivably could last 5 more years.

Opened with some trepidation. Its old. Its a '98. Yellow amber color hinted at over the hill but, lo and behold, its drinking very nicely. Typical Kistler profile, pineapple, hazelnut, lanolin in both nose and on the palate. Long finish.

Good now but should be consumed soon.

Cork was slightly raised and capsule did not spin, suggesting air may have got into the bottle. In fact, the wine was somewhat oxidized but I could tell a nice wine was in there somewhere.
