Really tight at open. Had it decanted for 2.5 hours. Vanilla. Followed by dark fruit. A little hot at the end to start but mellowed out. Great wine.

This soft and floral Pinot is drinking well right now, but I had hoped for more complexity and energy at this price point. Cherry red in color; medium in body; aromas of sour cherry, cardamon, and cranberry. Flavors of dried strawberry, rhubarb, and thyme, with an elegant and lingering finish. 14.2% alcohol.

This wine is lackadaisically tasty (how’s that for an adverb! - take that, college professor who, rightly, said I used too many of them.) In other words, this wine feels a little too laid back, a little too confident in itself. As a longtime fan of Peter Michael wines (and also of the idea it’s not smart to waste money), I wanted a lot more nuance and class.

Just a fantastic, classic, powerful Napa Cabernet. Leather, tobacco, cassis, touch of mushroom. Fantastic structure and minerality. Long finish. Held up over 3 days. Ridiculous QPR for $50 and one of the best Napa Cabernet deals I’ve come across. Drink now and over next 5 years.

  • DugyDog commented:

3/20/20, 11:50 AM - excellent purchase. I lived in Cardiff from 2000 - 2013 on Summit Avenue about 0.5miles from 3rd corner. Great place! Thanks for the info!

Massive wine with too much heat at the moment. Alcohol level overshadows the fruit even after a few hours. I see the potential — but will not open another for a few years at least.

Beautiful wine in a very good place.

6/29/17, 7:29 AM - Initially tasted through a Coravin and determined no decant was necessary. Consumed the bottle over a period of 2.5 hours and it did not seem to evolve much in the glass but rather performed consistently throughout the evening. Very secondary flavors emerging, no sensation of the heat of the vintage.

The Krupp Brothers should invest a consumate amount of money in corks as they do in over-heavy bottles... the cork completely crumbled and it was only through careful work that I removed the last bit without getting cork in the wine. Once I had the wine open and decanted, it was good - drinking well now. Balanced fruit and mineral notes - paired well with dry-aged, prime filet.
  • DugyDog commented:

4/11/17, 7:56 AM - Absolutely agree. I opened the 2002 Krupp Brothers last night. The top half of the cork was completely soft and crumbled upon opening. Luckily, I was also able to remove the bottom portion of the cork intact.

Bordeaux nose -- minerality; herbaceous; earthy. Middle weight; still some tannin/bitter notes sensed; but overall good long finish.
  • DugyDog commented:

9/3/14, 7:17 AM - I believe the wine has some life left to it…perhaps remain at same level for 3-5 years as I detected no bricking.
