2/25/17, 10:10 PM - Great review. I drank a 2001 in 2015 and it was still very vibrant and youthful. This wine is a great value.

Drunk over two days.
Very concentrated purple. Nose of leather and stewed dark fruit. Earthy palate, mainly vegetal and a little mealy. Too dominated by inferior merlot. Drinkable.

12/26/16, 2:37 PM - It's great you like it, but in what sense was the noted experience I had with a wine "bad"? I've had it twice, twice it sucked. Buy Il Grigio (by the same producer), it costs half and doesn't suck.

From a great looking bottle with a VHS fill, this wine had a deep red center and light red rims. The medium+ intensity nose had a fair amount over Provencal herb in the beginning. After a couple of hours of air, the herbs receded and the result was: black cherries, blackberries, red soil, Provencal herbs, and a hint of cedar.

In the mouth, this wine was ripe and round and yet it felt streamlined and precise due to its light body and crisp acidity. The tannins were light and round and yet clearly present. The overall balance was very impressive. A refined wine with great complexity and mouthfeel.

This wine was best with 4+ hours of air and will clearly last for at least 10 more years. However, I don't see any reason to wait. Impressive!

Previous notes from 2012 apply and this is still slightly tight. I chose not to decant. Smooth silky mouth feel with balanced red and black fruit, acidity and resolved tannins. Extremely elegant wine. Drink now but will continue for 3-5 years. Excellent wine with filet mignon.

Crimson/garnet color. The nose holds back at first, but aromas of black currants, blackberries, plums, chocolate, and oak spice quickly fill the glass. This is an open and accessible style, with classic, old school restraint. The balance, structure, and sense of place are obvious here. Really shows the class of the 2010 vintage and may merit a higher score in a few years.
