Sometimes it's all about the order that wines are served. This was the second after a really good 2007 Anderson's Conn Valley reserve Cabernet. The Anderson's was big and tannic. Everyone really liked it, rated it 93. Then this one. Surprisingly everyone thought it was just as good as the first bottle. I did not expect that.

The next night I finished the Goldschmidt and it showed it's true character. Young, very fruity, with little complexity. It stands a good chance to improve over the next couple of years.

I love being surprised every now and then.

That is also why we should only post wine reviews about the first bottle of the night. I used to work in wine retail and often tasted 10 wines before 10am. Even though I spit, I didn't trust my taste after about 5 of these.
