Golden coloured. Nose of natural-ish white wine. Attack very good - very much in the white natural playbook. The aftertaste is very off-putting to this palate, though. Bitter, a bit Rancio-like.

One where I'd have dialled-down the funk/crazy factor.

The attack is great and a testament to Jerome's skill. Light but persistent, beautiful white/red fruit.

Getting some mousiness on the back, though.

Look, I know that Cornelissen’s wines are sometimes a bit weird/too funky for their own good.

But this is drinking incredibly well. Pure, clean dark fruits with melted tannins and enough acidity to keep the whole thing interesting. Probably the most interesting Sicilian wine I’ve ever drunk… great stuff and at its peak.

Nice and fresh. Lacks a bit of complexity compared with the Jambon Blanc consumed alongside it. Like in a lot of Ganevat wines, I find the acidity a bit too pronounced. They're really well made wines, but lack a little bit of va-va-voom?

In magnum.

Surprisingly fresh. Had a slight honeyed quality and a great texture. Complex and satisfying. Joy to drink.

Hatzidakis' whites (and in particular the Mylos and Louros cuvees) have ignited my interest in Greek wines. Was therefore very much looking forward to tasting this.

Wine is 11 years old and entering its prime. It's got the sunny, full bodied nature that you'd expect from Greece but with a tremendous amount of acidity and salinity. Long, interesting, thought-provoking but without demanding your full and undivided attention. RIP, Haridimos, you are much missed.

In it’s prime drinking window. Tannins fully resolved but plenty of vigor left. Textbook giacosa Barolo. Tar, liquorice, roses. Long. Very fragrant. Last glass the best so won’t collapse overnight.

In Mag. Killer bottle of Beguines. More acidity than usual, but provides more backbone/freshness. Could drink this all night.

Fully resolved and on its way down. Velvet-like in texture but starts to lack a bit of bite. Very nice aromatics.

Exceptional bottle of wine. Thought I was taking the Ursules from the cellar but picked this one instead by mistake. Rich but not cloying and incredibly pure. Long, so precise. Could drink this all night.

The Vinous note (79/100) is almost funny.

So much energy and material in there, yet so much tension. Fabulous. Shouldn’t have served it with oysters, though - think a lot of the complexity of the wine gets lost in the pairing…

2014 degorgement. Very nice but waited a bit too long. Age-related Oxidative notes took away more than they added from the wine. They’re actually nicer young…

Not one of the great poggios. Lacks the texture that the great examples display. Sweet oak a bit too overbearing. It’s nice and showy but lacks some of that Poggio finesse that I love so much.

I love all things gonon but this one was pretty underwhelming. It’s unmistakenly Syrah, but I misss the silky tannins and black olive fragrance that I usually associate with the domaine’s reds. Wouldn’t stand out in a blind tasting.

Initially a bit muted but evolved in the glass over an hour to become a beautiful rendition of mature meursault. Not the tight/reductive style of coche/PYCM but not the broad shouldered style that lafon was hiterto known for…

Wine of the evening, among some tough competition. Wild, floral and very refined. Not heavy at all, which is surprising given it's a strong vintage from the South of Southern France. Very fresh, despite the natural winemaking. Castex was a winemaking genius...

This is a fantastic rendition of Butteaux by the very talented Thomas Pico. Took a bit of time to open (2 glasses from the bottle on day one where good but not Great, the rest of the bottle on day 2 was stupendous). Frankly think that Thomas makes the best wines in Chablis today, including the big 2.

The texture is fabulous and attests to the quality of the viticulture. Long, saline and chalky. Everything I love about Chablis.

A point. Millésime tres réussi chez les soeurs. Fruit rouge aérien, légèrement confit.

Fabulous wine. Perfume and palate both delightfully red-fruited and ethereal. The quintessence of the M-G style.

White flowers and white fruits. Real freshness despite the vintage.

Baroque, in a selosse kind of way. Full bodied, oxidative yet very cerebral. Would go well with foie gras or baked apples...

Really hard to get past the citrus like acidity. That’s almost all there is to it. Apparently domaine had stuck malos that year and it shows. Drank a couple of half glasses and left it there.

Fabulous wine. Tends to dried leaves, savoury almost tea-like profile but with that sweet pinot fruit delicately underpinning the whole thing.

So fragrant, as always. Open for business. Not the most complex wine, but delicious pinot fruit. Sappy cherries & black fruits.

Noticeable alcohol... a bit bigger than I would have expected. Not exactly the "chrystaline" school of Riesling.

From mag. Nice pinot fruit. There's a sweetness to the wine that I found a bit troubling. Prevents it from reaching the greatness one would expect from this vineyard/vintage/producer combination. May be some clumsy chaptalisation?

Over the hill. From a magnum with very good levels.

Fabulous white wine. So much energy, so much material. Remarkable how well this held up given the lack of sulfites. What a treat.

Prototypical CFE. Bone-dry but more muscular than some of its German counterparts. Long and satisfying. Age has started to work its petrol-y magic. No hurry, but no reason to wait either.

Best Rose de Jeanne I've ever had. Perfectly balanced. A study in subtle nuances: fine bubbles, fine frame and yet leaves such an impression. Wowser. Perfect match to a sushi meal...

Fuller bodied kind of Marie Courtin. Retains a freshness and salinity that's reflective of the 1/3 Pinot Blanc. No sulfites. Her wines are always interesting. drinks well now but will keep.

Fresh, fragrant, mineral and generally fabulous. My friend thought it tasted of Prieure Roch Clos de Beze.

Another monument to Alain Castex's genius.
