Not flawed, but somewhat mute, less fruit and more earth/spices. Thought it would open up after an hour or so in the glass but it remained dull.

Had alongside the ‘17. I’d say this had more energy, lively fruit, open and juicy. In a good spot now but might develop even more with further cellaring.

A disappointment. Sour, milky, bad fruit. Poured out half.

Quite boring at this point. Some dark fruit left but little energy and no complexity, elusive and dry. Not unpleasant but not going anywhere.

Medium body, fruit forward, somewhat short, good energy. At or just passed its peak.

Not sure what to make of this. Decanted for an hour before starting. On the nose ripe cherries, tea leafs, umami, but on the palate very dry, muted, spicy, low fruit, elusive. Did not meet expectations.

On the drier side, ripe fruit, a bit spicy, light bodied. Probably past its peak.

Fabulous at this point. Dark cherries, intense aromas, cocoa beans, faint hint of oak, a tad chili, mildly refreshing, good length. Surely durable but very enjoyable now.

Almost seven years on since last bottle, this has matured considerably - while retaining its Chinon characteristics, the tannins have come down markedly, making it soft yet still with blueberries, lots of green herbs, white pepper and licquorice in the forefront. However, it’s somewhat weak, more taken over by the dry and spicy notes, lacking punch and thus seemingly winding down. Might evolve into an even smoother ride but I would not save this vintage for much longer. 90-91p

Traditional method brut, well balanced, not terribly exciting but nice seeing the development of Swedish sparkling.

Seems past its prime at this point. On the nose ripe cherries, cinnamon, hint of violets, volatility. Would have guessed it as a Nebbiolo.
On the palate quite thin, the fruit is still there but waning, tannins as well. On the sour side, notes of lingonberry, thyme, green pepper. Very lengthy, but lacking much depth. A nice wine winding down.

Dark yellow, going on orange, heavily sedimented. On the nose a mix of cream, flint and bitter orange. Lots of energy on the palate: salty, savory, high citric acidity, hint of saffron, medium+ length, quite energetic. Do hold this for 5+ more years for more complexity.

Thinnis yet quite lush, good peppery energy and thrifty tannins. Enjoy with a pasta carbonara or osso bucco for example. Well developed now but could easily be held for some years more.

Had alongside the 2009. Very interesting comparison. Whereas the '09 had developed immensely and is quite soft, the '16 still has a lot of freshness, green herbacity, minerality, more typical of a Loire CF. Could be kept for several years more but could also be had now.

Had alongside the 2016. Two quite different animals. This vintage could easily have been mistaken for a Nebbiolo on the looks and nose, but more similar to a CS on the palate. Very thick, almost chewy, impressive length, mature and somewhat waning in strength. Could hold out for some years more for sure but no reason to wait really.

Quite lush, yet at the same time overpowering - too much fruit, heat, body. Mild tannins, medium+ length, but a bit unbalanced for my taste.

Liking this very much; great intense yellow fruit and well balanced acidity, retaining energy. Not very cellarable probably so probably well had now.

Lower energy than previous vintages. High acidity, dry, lots of sage, black and white pepper, dark cherries, plums, black currant. Somewhat underwhelming.

Golden yellow hue, medium+ thick. Somewhat sedimented (residual crystallized sugar). Well developed, winding down. On the palate ripe yellow apples, saffron, cinnamon, white pepper. Still marked acidity but energy on the decline.

Obviously well crafted, wth both energy and depth, but very much on the young side now - cellar for at least three years more before approaching, I'd say.

Not my type of wine but obviously well crafted and durable. High acitity, heat, alcohol - needs its food pairing. In no way showing signs of age; if anything more on the young side. Could probably develop well but not sure when would be the right time to open this - 2-5 years on? Have one bottle left for comparison.

Drank alongside the 2019. Very pale yellow. Lightly floral, elusive scent. Richer than the ‘19 on the palate, a bit fuller body, but same notes of lychee fruit, a mild sting, salty minerality. Lingers longer, hint of oak. Approachable now and up to five years more I’d say.

Fairly typical PN in its style, yet somewhat on the cooler side for San Luis Obispo. The expected cherry and strawberry notes, some oak, well balanced.

Unfortunately this second bottle of three purchased in 2019 was at this point dominated by barnyard that didn't go away with airing.

Second bottle, almost seven years on since last tasting. Forceberry pretty much sums it up in the note below; I would emphasize the stellar length, quite chewy body and peach/cantaloupe notes. With further cellaring I’d guess this would move into a more oily state, enhancing the ripe apple.
