Syrup of forest berries. Earthy opening, tight. Explodes with perfume of over ripe, almost black sour cherry. Pine trees. Present chewy tannins. Develops with black truffle, confeteur strawberries and touch of game (duck breast). Dense wine with huge aging potential. ⁣

That's the Burgundy I admire. Wine that stimulates both emotional and intellectual sides of you. Has its own individual character.⁣
Premier cru level with no doubts. Maybe not as wide spectrum as top Grand cru wines might offer.⁣
Wine you don't wanna rush with. Let it show you all the grace at its own pace. ⁣
It is graceful, lighter character than those from Gevrey. ⁣

Les Ruchots is located just beneath Clos de Tart in the deep down the slope. Surrounded by tree walls the Ruchots is warm microclimat.⁣

Medium (-) intensity of aromas. Dust, tar, wood, color paint, fruits are hidden. Cocktail cherry on the palate. Medium (+) acidity. Aromas & flavours are diluted.

I'm constantly trying to find a real gem among numerous winemakers, but again and again I prove the same concept - it's the winmaker that matters the most in Burgundy, way before the terroir.

This time I fail again. Just a mediocre wine which doesn't deliver even a fraction of what you expect from Burgundy Pinot Noir.

Mature Bordeaux aromas of dill, graphite, pencil shavings, earth, boiled carrots, candied cherries. Perfume you can't resist and get addicted to.
Fruits already faded away leaving rather flat but silky palate.

Delicate decadence wine.

Riga Wine&Champagne

Tasted from double Magnum. Citrus, flowers, ripe fruits. Off-dry mouth feeling.
Still very youthful, but Champagne tastes much better from the large formats.

R series is the reflection of the certain year. that's not Millésime, but Cuvée where about 80-85% comes from one vintage and remaining 15-20% from reserve, usually the selection of 3 older fine vintages i.e. 2008

Dosage is 6 g/l

Gaja wines night 22.09.18

What a nice treat after a series of dead Gaja older vintages.
I was quite sceptical about this blend whether it keeps up with such age.
It showed beautiful.
Nebbiolo, CabSauv, Merlot. Dominant Nebbiolo, Merlot perfume. Peak maturity.

I am so surprised how beautiful it aged. That was on par with many other more prestigious labels of Gaja. Very affordable and delivers just nicely!

Gaja wines night 22.09.18

Red berries, dusty aromas. Still tannic.
Mid-level label of Gaja. It was tasted along with iconic Sperss '90 and you could see light years of difference between those. However if tasted on its own, that is very good Barolo with good vfm especially for overpriced Gaja.

Charming fragrant bouquet of perfumed aromas of cherry in the chocolate, autumn leaves, cedar. Fine, elegant and silky. Palate is youthful, tannic with good acidity.

Pure Sangiovese. My favourite expression of this grape variety is Brunello di Montalcino with a few exceptions, including some fine Vino Mobile di Montepulciano, like this one.

Best examples are about the same price as BdM.

Bit of toast, apples, citrus, yeasty. Steely mineral. Quite edgy, because of recent disgorgement.

This NV is on par with many basic NV Champagnes I can think of. And even maybe leaving those Traditional Bruts behind.

I like this one is Blanc de Blancs. Value for the money is crazy and leaving no choice for the alternative at this price tag.

Fennel, spices, dark fruits. Baking spices. Not as dense and concentrated as the La Rubiconde by Maxime-François Laurent (who happen to be the cousins).

Blend of Grenache and Syrah.

Organic BIO wine.

What I really like about such wines that they are drinking so well when young. You can enjoy Côtes-du-Rhône of recent vintages which is almost impossible with many fine wines from the region where you need to wait for 10-15 years for Syrah to develop

Great choice for a daily wine
