Lemongrass and smokey nose. Nice textural palate which still finishes pretty crisp and fresh, plenty of acid drive. Still decent fruit purity but the oak treatment has done a lot of work on this wine. To me its for the better but I don't like a lot of savvy b so depends on your taste.

Blue and purple fruit nose with white pepper and spice. Plush soft fruit, gentle white pepper. Ample tannins already starting to soften. Persistent finish. Excellent value.

Earthen buried red fruit nose which jumps out of the glass, quite aromatic. Red fruit, earth, brambles, a hint of green stemminess and herbs on the palace. Juicy, moreish, tasty. Plentiful tannins which don't distract. Tangy slightly acidic finish. Nice.

Funky farmyard and light red fruit. Crunchy and delicious, pure line of acid to a medium finish. Could drink a lot of this. Good on its own or with food.

Medium to full bodied, Blue and purple fruit. A bit stewy but fairly smooth. It's ok, nothing wrong or particularly out of place, but just a bit bland and uninteresting.

Pale salmon with a tinge of orange almost. Strawberries, cherry, cream, floral notes on the nose. Red berries on the palate with a little juicy sourness, soft grippy texture. Persistent dry finish. Interesting and tasty.

Vibrant clear red. Tangy, slightly sour, cherry nose. Roses, a little leafiness. Ripe cherry palate, red floral notes. Tastes like pinot but served chilled and with a medium dry rose finish. Probably getting towards the end of its best drinking window but still fresh enough. Better than a lot of rose and worth a go if you like pinot and a bit of fruit sweetness.

Cherry stalky nose, fun funky palate of cherry, leaves, undergrowth and plenty of quality fruit flavours. Super fine tannin structure and a nice line of acid that keeps it moving along. Already very tasty but has the bones and quality of fruit to age medium term and be better for it.

Pretty restrained nose. Bit of peach, bit of melon, bit of lemon. Palate definitely has citrus, white peach, some oak, some chalk. It's nice. Decent follow through and acid to clean it up. Maybe just a smidge out of balance and lacking crispness on the finish which stops it being really good instead of just good.

Very pale yellow. Citrus, peach and honey nose which makes the mouth water. Palate has tart lemon sherbet, honeydew melon and light honey flavours. Clean medium length finish. Very nice summer aperitif or good with Asian food.

Clear garnet. Shy nose, some darkish cherry, cranberry, bit of violet. Palate is dark cherry, sour cranberry, touch of oak, leading to a dry fairly tannic finish with spicy notes. Mouthfeel is pretty silky, almost (but not quite) to the point of being thin, until you hit that tannin on the back end. This feels like it might go somewhere, but is super tight and a long way from getting there. Has potential upside for sure but need to see more from it in the future.

Bit of blackberry, bit of plum, juicy and enjoyable but probably needs time to open up and fill out a bit. It's either quite tight or just a bit too straight forward. Well made but time will tell if it is a really good wine or just a good wine.

This is all sour cherry, red currant, violets, some earthiness and barnyard funk. We drank it chilled, though I imagine you could drink it at room temperature. A lot of fun but this is certainly more than just a fun curiosity, this is an interesting and enjoyable wine, perfectly smashable on a summer afternoon but also exuding character and interest on each swirl and sip.

Fine and ample bead, pear, apple, a hint of lemon and light toasted nuts on the nose. Palate quite similar, with some lightly toasted brioche notes, though the fruit is still at the fore. This has time on its side, but it is drinking really well now and I don't think I will hold remaining bottles too much longer. It is in a sweet spot for me. Very nice drop.

Coincidentally have tasted this twice in the last week or so. Still pretty young and shy, purple fruit spectrum, some chocolate, oak, vanilla, but not really open for business yet. Has everything in place and I feel like this will be a good basket press, true to the style in that it is big but feels much more elegant and restrained than a lot of Barossa bruisers. Very nice but not wow. 5 to 10 years should do this a world of good.

Mixed spice, medium to rich cherry, herbaceous, - little stalky, some mushroom and forest floor element. Initially the spice was too dominant but it settled with air, no doubt a sign that this elegant wine is just too young and will benefit from time. Very nice.

Decanted half an hour. Tinge of musty cardboard on initial opening but blew off to reveal a clean nose and palate. Dark brooding fruit on the nose, as well as violets, tar. Initially just a hint of nail polish remover which actually adds to the overall impression of freshness and vibrancy, though there is also just a tinge of alcohol sticking out, both of which mellowed out with further time. The palate shows a core of dark cherry and plus interwoven with tar and oak in a nicely balanced way. The tannins are starting to soften but are still quite gritty and plentiful, mostly cleaned up by a nice line of acid. The finish is reasonable though a little shorter than I was hoping for. Still time ahead for this enjoyable wine but it is quite pleasant to drink now.

Good solid cru Beaujolais. Light crimson colour. Expressive floral and sweet red fruit, mainly cherry, nose. Slightly sweet red fruit on the palate, a hint of earthiness, acid quite well balanced but just sticking out a little on the back palate. Fine but plentiful tannin. Good fun.

2 hour decant. Spicey nose with just a hint of herbs and a touch of black fruit coming through at the back. Palate is black fruit, but mostly earthy and dry leather, and a little lean, in a nice way. Lots of dry tannins. Good medium finish. Very solid and enjoyable medium weight hunter Shiraz. Wish I had a few more, will definitely take some age with style.

Slightly mouldy cork came out easily in one piece with the help of a Durand. Smelled a smidge funky in the bottle but it must have just been said cork as the wine in glass had a lovely, slightly restrained nose including honeysuckle. Didn't keep any notes but was a very nice Riesling with a nice hit of sweetness but well balanced by an appropriate amount of acid. Still quite solid fruit characters so has time left but a really delicious drink right now with a very long finish.

Decanted 2 hours and returned to the bottle for transport to the restaurant. Drunk about 3 hours after return to the bottle. Still a little shy but definitely benefited from the decant. Classic Edelstone style with restrained but quality fruit, excellent structure, fine tannins and an extra long finish including a hint of eucalypt. Enjoyable but still needs 5 years plus in the bottle to hit its real drinking zone and will then go on for a long time.

2 1/2 hours in the decanter smoothed out a few edges. Dizzying purple fruit and spicy herbaceous nose. Rich fruit, mellow menthol kick at the middle and back palate. Long finish. Tannic and dense but smooth mouth feel. Powerful and hedonistic. Drinking surprisingly well young but has plenty of punch for the years ahead. Yum.

Really lovely. Tried in a flight with 1985. Much younger smelling and tasting than the 1985. Some chocolate as well as oak on the nose. Still rich pure dark fruit. More acid. Rounder mouth feel. Delicious.

From magnum. I am not good enough to properly describe this wine. It was, simply, superb. The best chardonnay I have ever tasted. Truly on song. Balanced, rich but complex, long and compelling. My WOTN in a tasting that included 5 vintages of Penfolds Grange.

Deep purple. Rich dizzying nose with pruney peppery goodness. Brash palate stewed black fruit, raisins. Intense flavour profile, almost too much, and lots of fineish tannin. Medium finish and quite a bit of acid. Glad I picked it up cheap, does not represent value at close to retail. If it settles down and balances out a bit it had some improvement in it and will be a good full bodied shiraz.

Fruit driven, pear, pineapple. High minerality on both nosr and palate. Not super acidic but the acid is sticking out a bit. Felt out of balance. Not as good as previous bottles of this which I have really enjoyed. Maybe just in a funny spot.

Popped and poured. Super expressive nose of black fruit with undercurrents of gentle spice and wood. Medium bodied (at best) with silky mouth feel and almost fully integrated very fine tannins. Round black fruit flavours dominate the palate but in a refined kind of way, with a hint of spice/pepper on the medium length finish.

The finish does go medium length but then kind of drops off a cliff a little right at the end which is a shame.

Refined cool climate shiraz that is ageing well under screw cap with 5+ years ahead. Excellent value.

Little grassy and peppery on the nose with some dark fruit lurking around. Tastes of blackberry, cherry and fairly sweet vanilla with quite a hint of white pepper and unobtrusive oak. Quite fine tannins, shortish length. Pleasant enough and going well with simple BBQ tonight.

Decanted for an hour before first service and still drinking 2 hours later. First impression on the nose was strong black fruit but with a silky essence to it. On tasting, ridiculously concentrated black fruit, smooth oak and plentiful but fairly fine tannins. Medium to long finish. Unfolding and softening a bit as time goes on but still very tight. Quality juice with plenty of promise and score is highly like to improve. Excellent value.

Excellent, as expected. Mineral and slightly peachy nose. Palate is still very oak driven, although it is well integrated and nicely balanced by the acid and stone fruit flavours. Long full flavoured finish. A bit more time for the oak to settle down further and this will be a gorgeous wine. Really good Australian chardonnay.

A little reserved on the nose with some slightly honeyed lemon coming off. Lemon tart and slightly toasty nut flavours on the palate. Juicy and full mouth feel, pretty good length but a little lacking in acid. Enjoyable low alcohol (9.5%) wine that doesn't taste to me at least like it is ever going to be great. No doubt a few years left in it though.

Quite a rich red colour with no significantly noticeable bricking. Nose is worn in leather and spice and the palate carries that through along with a touch of dried red fruit. Fine but prominent tannins and well balanced acidity. Medium bodied and medium length finish. An enjoyable wine with mostly secondary flavours and an enjoyable mouth feel. Matched very nicely with slow braised beef cheeks.

Sitting between ruby and garnet in colour. Looks the part. On the nose already sophisticated and medium bodied. Clear cherry and floral notes on the nose. The palate is well rounded with strong juicy cherry fruit, a hint of spice and noticeable but well balanced tannins. Slight gamey follow through. Medium, smooth finish. A lovely young wine and has potential to develop nicely.

Strong kero nose and sharp acid, both of which settled down after 10-15 minutes or so. Very strong lime aromas with some floral notes. Strong lime with toast and honey on the palate. Slightly unctuous and enjoyable mouth feel. Medium finish with good acid, maybe slightly out of balance though. Overall a very enjoyable and moreish wine after it settled down with 10-15 minutes of air.

Slightly nutty and oaky nose. Palate of refined, well balanced oak, a little nuttiness, some stonefruit and maybe a hint of lime, which lingered during the medium to long finish. Still good but well balanced levels of acid. A very enjoyable wine. Still on the right side of prime and a good example of a refined, medium aged Australian chardonnay.

Some concerning aromas, very musty and brown but blew off after 10-15 minutes bottle breathing. Settled down to a nice smooth aroma of meaty spices with a little vegetation in there. Smooth palate, tannins fully integrated, a little gamey meat, some forest floor and just a hint still of red fruit. Getting to the end of its life but still doing ok. Quite pleasant overall.

Decanted nearly two hours. Drunk over a further 3 hours. Improved most of that time, maybe held steady last hour. Dark purple, mystical almost in colour. Rich, dizzying nose of oak, spice and dark floral aromas. Opulent flavours of black fruit, new oak and spice. Well balanced and lovely structure. Dry and tannic. Many many years of quality ahead. A delight to drink. Only upside from here.

Auction lottery success. Good cork, good wine. Still fresh and vibrant both on nose and palate. Not the classic aged Hunter Semillon, reminded me more of a Riesling with citrusy flavours and still good crisp acid though obvious Semillon characters as well. Leaner than anticipated, but still has obvious time to flesh out. Quite enjoyable.

Opened Saturday night. Some floral aromas but fairly closed, had to really work it in the glass to get it to open up. As with other bottles of this wine it was crisp, a little slatey with high minerality and acid, some citrus fruit. Unfortunately finishes quite short. The following night the remaining half bottle was more full in flavor and had opened up a little, as well as showing some honeyed notes. Much juicier and fuller mouth feel night 2, strongly suggesting it still needs more time. It will never be a great wine for mine, but I picked it up at $12.50 a bottle and at that it is a steal.

Bottle breathed for an hour then decanted an hour. Needed it with some slightly funky/musty odors coming off when opened but cleared off nicely. Very enjoyable and held together well for about 3 hours. It feels like it has plateaued but like it will hold for a while too. Enjoyable with some some rich plummy fruit but also oak, earthiness and a slight minty aftertaste. Excellent length. Nice mouthfeel. My wife really enjoyed it. I thought it was good but perhaps slightly one dimensional. Couldn't put my finger on it but I just felt it was lacking some complexity or intrigue. Still, very happy as an auction buy and will enjoy drinking the others.

Moreish aroma of minerality and just a hint floral, fairly closed overall. Not as zesty as I was expecting but soft lemon, juicy lime, slightly tart green apple and good mineral flavours. Long and overtly dry finish. Lovely round mouthfeel for a Riesling. Overall quite enjoyable with obvious potential, but not a Riesling for me to drink young. Hoping it matures well.

Decanted for a solid 2 1/2 hours, should have made it 5! The wine initially had a light porty aroma but with some time in the decanter started to settle down and open up a bit, as it did with vigorous swirling in the glass. Deep almost impenetrable purple in colour through the middle with just faint bricking on the edge. Intense, complex aroma that is hard to describe. Still some rich dark fruit but also chocolate, hints of old leather and perhaps a touch of mint? Ripe black fruit on the palate, definitely a hint of mocha, oak, earthiness all pretty well balanced and working together. Earthy tannins still quite up front and maintaining some acid throughout which tells me this has plenty of life left in it. Medium to long finish. Intriguing and different. Very enjoyable.
