Tasted at a social event, hence brief notes only. Green herbs, apple and pear fruit with a cool mineral layer of wet pebbles and fine brioche. Crisp, round and a fine creamy layer on the palate. This remains the strongest of the recent Jacquesson releases.

The most expensive wine I could find, and maybe you look down on me for picking Chardonnay, but I thought it would be good to see what could be done on different country but same grape. And here, on the reductive smoky side of things but quite fine and delicious to drink.

Beautiful interplay of fresh and cooked fruit, nuts, honey, flowers, fungus and minerals, a powerful but very fine mousse, easy acids for non-dosé but there's great cut and plenty of freshness. Long and very dry, quite stony and earthy, though that fresh and cooked fruit combo resonates as well. This might just improve for another decade, but you will not go wrong opening it now.

2013 Gaston Chiquet Champagne Special Club Brut Champagne Blend
This needs an hour or two to breathe and express itself. Right after popping the cork, there's a lot of grannysmith apple, lemon, and just a touch of brioche. After two hours though, it becomes apparent how much time this spent on the lees. The typica apple and cranberry are backed up by yogurt and cream cheese notes. The super fine mousse also plays off of the ample acidity really well.

This is a pretty amazing Champagne even for $100. Personally, I'd much rather buy two bottles of this now than one bottle of Krug GC. I can only imagine how complex this will be in five or ten years, but I don't blame anyone for drinking it now.

2008 Henri Goutorbe Champagne Grand Cru Special Club Champagne Blend
Light yellow in color with a golden hue.

Strong nose of yeast, spices, apples, citrus, bread, minerals and white pepper.

Medium plus in body, with small bubbles and medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with citrus, apples, yeast, bread, lemons, earth, minerals and spices.

Medium on the finish with limes and almonds.

This is a nicely aged 14 year old Champagne. Showing great complexity at this point.

Tasty and interesting. Rich, yet elegant. Loved the mouthfeel and the well integrated bubbles.

Nicely balanced right now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Good by itself or with food, and better after 30 minutes of airtime.

I paired it with a delicious grilled Octopus.

A blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. disgorged October 2020.

12% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$90.

L'Arlot 2019 tasting. Drank in Conterno Sensory.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, purplish ruby colour. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of burnt rubber tyre reduction that blows off, then floral violets, dark red sices, dark red cherries, red berry compote, dark herbal tea. Developing.
On the palate, dry, hgh acidity, medium alcohol, structured medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of black cherries, dark red cherries, ripe strawberries, sweet earth, sweet herbal black tea, sense of inner meatiness. Long finish with some stony minerality. Sense of good structure holding.
Very good quality. Lovely NSG. Will only get better with more development.

Such a disappointment. There is an impurity in the nose that, at best, could be described as oaky vanilla but just doesn't do it for me. Fine, cherries aplenty - but it doesn't make up for the impure nose. Lost interest at once and turned the rest of the bottle into a red wine sauce to go along with the fish, which was a task this bottle was up to. Tried the Brancaia Tre before and that was, if possible, worse. I think I like Chiantis but I don't like this. Brancaia - lost faith in the producer.

Had a discussion with my wine dealer regarding the ageabilty of low dosage wines and this worried me a bit so I had to check how the wine evolved so far.

At first a quite evolved nose, some autolytic toasty character followed by ripe apple.
The taste was slightly dry/austere like I remember but whereas some years ago it was brutally austere without sooo much character it showed some unexpected flavours of oaky, sherry like undertones.

In any case I left the wine to breathe for one day and continued on the next day.

And oh what a difference… super intense apple, dry but now much much more harmonious integrated. Whereas before it was slightly mineralic and lemon profile it now showed a glorious Pinot driven frutiness.
A bit more time and it doesnt even feel that dry anymore with all that fruit.

Over the evening it also showed a lot of different notes on the bouquet…. a bit fruit compot with vanilla…

Overall still wondering regarding the aging trajectory here. Certainly quite a different wine than at the beginning. I definitely enjoy this much more now. Lets see how long it can evolve in a nice way.

Lovely intensity and complexity on the nose with nuanced aromas of blood, evergreen, dried lime, red currant, and lilacs. Very finely textured, decidedly medium weight, but not lacking in intensity and the freshness is particularly appealing here. The Flavor profile is very fresh with red fruits, citrus and herbs, and this is downright playful in the mouth. Clean, precise, long and elegant on the finish with some bristly tannins, There's a gentle dried herbal character here lending complexity, but this is surprisingly bright and energetic in the mouth with lovely transparency. Decent length, Neither terribly obvious nor terribly fruity, but bright, layered, nuanced, and retaining a sense of delicacy that the best wines of the vintage retain.

I feel bad here, but this wine did absolutely nothing for me. Astringent on the nose and palette. Extremely tight and sharp. Some nice floral notes and a bit of cherry, but not much more. After a couple of hours of breathing, it had opened up marginally, but not much. The next day this was a tannin monster and difficult to drink. I would give this way lower than 86 based on this experience, but I'm sure that with (a lot of) time this can develop into something decent. Avoid this for now.
EDIT: I've marked this as "flawed" now, based on some of the comments and retrospective thoughts. Even if not flawed, it appears to have shutdown considerably and, in my opinion (!), should be left to develop a good while.

Year in and year out, the 7XX series by Jacquesson is, to my palate, one of the finest NV champagnes money can buy. They were one of the first to openly declare their base vintage for their NV champagnes by using this series. No. 743 is based on the 2015 vintage, a warmer year, and the wine displays the roundness of the vintage with aplomb. The nose is incredible; fresh and pure like a smell of an alpine breeze on a sub-0° day. Light red and orchard fruits. On the palate, gratuitous fruit with green apples, pears (think those “wind-scarred” Harry & David, Royal Riviera pears) and minerals. There is plenty of acid for lift which also contributes to the length on the finish. This is a hedonistic edition of the 7XX series, delivering immense pleasure already. You could probably age it, but why? Disgorged August 2019. Over 215,000 bottles made.

One of my ATF NV champagnes, this is typical Bolly. So rich, creamy, and layered, with impeccable focus, delineation, and structure. Ripe apples, loquats, and brioche aromas are juxtaposed by freshness and vibrancy on the palate, where preserved lemons and slivers of gravelly minerality are buoyed by a constant flow of pinprick bubbles. Finishes with length, complexity, and sheer deliciousness.

Light-medium garnet, clear. Not much of a nose, limited to dusty blackberry, light strawberry, a touch of smoke. Tannins are really modest here and this is certainly an early drinker. A touch sappy on the palate with good acids, medium grip, but very modest length. A great, fair buy at less than $17, but more than that, it's an easy pass. Perfectly serviceable, early drinking Nebbiolo D'Alba. 13,5% abv. Not something I would purchase again (this bottle came from Carlino in Asti). I liked it for what it is, (simple but clean wine from a very challenging vintage). Thru 2018

Red ruby color , red fruits , medium bodied , not rich as expected for a ripasso

Dark red color , the nose was not so charming , at the beginning close and some leather , with time more fruits and spices , on the palate was great , gentle , round and full bodied , red fruits , cocoa , nice acidity to balance and also the alcohol completely integrated. Very good
