Tasting Notes for le cochon francais

(11 notes on 11 wines)

1 - 11 of 11 Sort order
White
Easily the best bottle of domestic Albarino that I've had and IMHO it would show very welll against some from Spain...
Red
This was one of the best Thanksgiving wines I've ever had. Noted, however, that the wine had bled almost all the way to the end of the cork wo would be concerned about sitting on any for much longer.
Red
knew nothing about this wine; it was a gift from a very good friend who knows my likes and dislikes...it knocked my socks off
Red
This is/was a terrific bottle of wine, my last of a case. HATE that the price has gone up so much because it was a terrific QPR.
Rosé
This is a terrific cabernet franc rose; rather light in weight (as opposed to a malbec rose I've been drinking of late), beautiful salmon color, plenty of fruit
White
Very nice wine, floral notes, nice finish, great QPR
Red
Les Pallieres is becoming our "go to" wine for grilled lamb. This wine won't, IMHO, be getting any better at this point so drink now. Elegant may not be quite correct word for a Gigondas but at this age, that is the thought that crossed my mind whilst drinking it.
Red
Not a numbers guy first of all. That said, ala Dick Enberg, "oh my"! this is a wonderful wine; had it with some roast pork (not a classic combination) and it did not overwhelm. wonderful nose, great mouthfeel. am going to miss Blankiet's merlot but have great hopes for the new Rive Droit.
Red
Had a bottle with, of all things, hamburgers. While quite obviously young, it was not nearly as tannic as I expected and was a real pleasure to drink. Should age for quite a while.
Red
Terrific wine; easily the best merlot that I've had at least in recent memory
