I should have opened and decanted at this stage and the wine needs a bit more time but it is lovely and will likely get better scores from me in the future as I enjoy more bottles in my collection

As I have stated in other notes, there are wines we open where my wife and I immediately start measuring ounces poured between each other.

This was one such wine. It was beautiful on the pallet with fruit and blueberries and Loud (flavorful)through the mid pattet and on through the finish. The bottle was gone way too soon.....

We acquired this wine when visiting their tasting venue in 2019. We had forgotten about the wine and opened it only to be blown away. It was as good as any of our Kistlers or Auberts. We loved it.

Opened and the layers unfolded immediately. Lovely nose of dark berries. A generous fruit forward start on the pallete but the acidity supported the wine through the mid palette and allowing the finish to linger with variance flavors and silky tannins. Well worth the wait

Whether its the vineyard or the winemaker I know not but it was a delicious PNP and previous bottles were the same. I think I do need to drink my inventory of this over the next few months as I am not sure it will stand up to more time without wilting some.

Cliff lede seems to require some time and also breathing once open. this wine night 2 was very nice and I wish we hadn't had the 1st half of the bottle the first night.

We loved the pinot with copper river salmon. Pinot is never our go to sipping wine over a movie or TV night but this new world California pinot is ripe and delicious all the same.

9 years old and still a delicious PNP with a blueberry bomb on initial palette. Very soft tannins and a fairly delicate maybe even short finish or musically speaking more piano than forte. Yet delicious all the same for our new world palette

Great popnpour and excellent nose (a bit of earthiness at this point) but great complex fruit on the front and mid pallet

This is my first impressions after opening 45 minutes ago.

Savory and foral on the nose with orange or a citrus fruit undercurrent.

the mouthfeel at present smooth and medium bodied with less fruit and more acidity on the palate. Yet a nice on the pallet as well.

Seemingly no tannins and the finish consequently is fairly brief and dominated but floral and herbal notes.

Just enjoying this as we watch football but would likely accompany food very well and/or needs to accompany food. The wine is pleasant enough but not my preferred style. Old world for sure.

Wife opened for me as a blind PNP. While I was on a zoom meeting. The nose jumped out of the glass as she sat it off camera a couple of feet away.

The nose had great fruit and herbal notes. The glass had a nice amber color around the rim representing some age (or maybe merlot dominant). But the fruit was so fresh for a wine with age. It was clearly ripe and high in alcohol but nicely balanced with good acidity and just fabulous with a wonder multi layered pallete and long finish.

I was surprised at the reveal but we measured each oz out to ensure an even distribution of a delicious wine. I love a cab franc. But didn’t “guess” it.

Lovely wine and drinking well at present, Paired great with a grilled steak and caesar salad.

I always know when we really love a wine because my wife and I keep an eye on each other with each pour. gotta to measure out the ounces.

Wonder event with my management team. Everyone enjoyed and the wine opened up wonderfully. Typical Darioush with good fruit but also oak and various spices. Long finish and after breathing the tannins were velvety.

had this wine with the winemakers 13 years ago. and again tonight.
It is lovely, mature and aging well but may be over aged to some. stewed fruit on the nose, nice fruit with some prune on the front pallet with a nice earthy finish. We are having it with pot roast in a an hour so we will see.

Delicious, Savory yet well balanced with great nuances and a velvety mouthfeel. Poured alongside a 2015 Scarecrow which in itself was delicious but presented with the typical dark ripe fruit profile for napa. this Harlan as least for the moment was more elegant and restrained but no less remarkable.

Drank with dinner out. First impression nice fruit and a bit of acidity in the finish that was just a bit out of balance. Seems to need a bit more time in the bottle but should be delicious

Wow Wow!!
4 of us had a dinner where we compared 7 fairly high priced california cabs on one bargain. All from 2014 and one 2013 and one 2015. Anomaly 2014, Cliff Lede Scarlet love 2014, Vineyard 29 Aida estate 2014, dakota shy 2015, Fairchild Stones 2 2014, Checkerboard aurora 2013, Pirate Treasure Red 2014. We drank the wines blind in two 4 pour flights. We choose our top two wines per flight then tasted those 4 in a final 4 flight. Interestingly enough in a unanimous decision our 2 most expensive wines finished 1 and 2 with the group who tasted. First time in the years we have been doing these blind taste dinners that the most expensive wines in our evening won the night so to speak.

To say this wine "won the night" under describes its beauty elegance and power and how it significantly stood out over the rest from the 1st nose in the glass and the first taste through the drips at the end with sediment. It was a fabulous and layered wine with a beautiful and lengthy finish. In the other wine of the nights defense maybe the vintage of 2013 gave it an advantage. Whether true or not I look forward to enjoying my other bottles in the future.

Fairchild lead the pack except for one wine, Checkerboard 2013 Aurora vineyard. the nose was lovely but just a little more subdued than normal. Very layered and lovely. It never disappoints and was gone fairly early as we all went back to the bottle "for further evaluation" Love Fairchild.

The Aida estate made the final 4 and was 3rd place for me. Absolutely delicious, but the nose was subdued. May just be the state the young wine is at this point. It was delicious but didn't match up to the 1st and 2nd place wines of the night Checkerboard and Fairchild.

Had with dinner: grilled ribeye and Caesar salad. Beautiful with the meal, But savoring the wine after the meal was a great experience. The wine has a Beautiful color with some auburn around the rim noting its age. Earth and vegetable notes and lovely dark fruit and floral presence on the nose. Beautiful balance with lovely dark fruit on the front and a pleasant acidity on the mid palate that activates the tongue than on the finish it just continues with a floral bouquet dancing in the background as the experience fades slowly away. I love this wine.
