2011 Result of a Crush Red Wine Walla Walla Valley Syrah Blend, Syrah

I can't seem to find any detailed description of what this blend consists of. Syrah to be sure however I would venture a guess there is some grenache in there as well (although maybe not since I'm not aware of Reynvaan producing any red grenache). It is lighter than most WA syrahs in my experience (and I've tried quite a few).

In any case, this is a lovely effort. Medium to medium-full bodied, consisting of notes of red raspberry, pomegranate, mushrooms, and damp earth. Fresh and vibrant. Great for sipping on a cool summer night. This is a great value, but hey, please don't raise the price!

7/25/16, 5:51 PM - Thanks Jason. That is very good to know! We were in Walla Walla back in March and unfortunately Result of a Crush's tasting room was closed the days we were there. However I've been lucky enough to find some bottles here on the east coast (NJ) and will continue to seek it out, along with Reynvaan's offerings as well.

2008 Cadence Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Mountain Red Bordeaux Blend

This was our first time trying a Cadence wine and it did not disappoint. Very soft and silky on the palette. Dominant notes of blue & black berries and pencil shavings. Really just a pleasure to drink in every way. We have a few other Cadence wines in the cellar (Tapteil & Bel Canto) and can't wait to try those when it's the right time.

3/31/15, 6:55 AM - Hi Dan L... Of course every bottle is different (depending on how it's been transported, storage conditions, etc.) however ours was in a great place when we opened it on Sunday. I aerated it and decanted for about 90 min. Other reviewers have remarked that this wine can be held for several more years however personally I don't see how it could improve significantly since it is so soft and well balanced right now. If I had more of these, I would probably plan to drink within the next 12 months or so. I don't think you would be disappointed in the least by drinking this now (unless your bottle differs significantly from ours). Hope that helps. Cheers!

2009 Reynvaan Family Vineyards Syrah The Unnamed Walla Walla Valley

Reynvaan wines are hard to track down in NJ/NYC. I had to take a subway to the upper west side (112th St. area) in order to score two bottles of this, but it was worth it.

The Unnamed has a very savory, almost briney characteristic to it. Starts out with notes of mesquite barbecue on the front palette, followed by black olive, coffee grounds, subtle dark berries (this wine is not fruit forward in the least), and that well known funk found in some of the better Walla Walla syrahs. I've seen this wine described as "meaty", and that description is not inaccurate in my experience. The finish lasted a good 30 sec. or longer.

A superb effort and well worth the $50 - $55 if you can locate some of this wine. I can only hope they expand their distribution into NJ so that we can experience Reynvaan wines on a more frequent basis.

12/22/14, 10:53 AM - Thanks JPaul1 for the tip. I located the last two bottles at Martin Brothers Wine & Spirits on upper Broadway but visited a few shops prior to that whose websites indicated they had Reynvaan syrah, only to find they were out of stock. I will check out that store in Westchester next time I am up that way.

I will definitely keep an eye out for the new Cayuse offering. Thanks!
