Smelled of earthy fruit, dry leaves and clay and was very showy and rich, complex - with very little tannin - and though powerful - was quite elegant. It evolved a lot over the following hour - and all for the better. Tasted with herbed rack of lamb and greek salad which was well suited to enjoying this unique and interesting wine. Gave it a 1 hour decant. Would propose 1 1/2 hours if offered the chance to drink again.

Quite exciting as the bouquet of rich dark fruit apparent upon pulling the cork. Dark, black color, long legs; high extract, great complexity coming across in pouring. With little time given to air, the wine unfolds across the tongue with great depth, cherry dominates, but now what is that?, blueberry. Reminds me of some of the 90's Bryant Family, but more Malbec-y and rustic. What an adventuresome effort. The black fruit complemented by inky flavors and a mysterious concoction of gravel, marrow, fruit, bouillon, oak and dryness. Swooshy tannins ever present, balanced and fine, not unpleasant - just young. Delicious, unique wine, clearly experimental. Grab this wine if you want to try something completely different. I hope to re-taste in 5-10 years time, but fear I will not. Sadly, it is impossible to come by in the USA I am learning. A french family friend grabbed this wine from his father's cellar before coming to visit in Dobbs Ferry, NY, for Thanksgiving. The labor of love by its maker, clearly comes through. A unicorn wine.

Red fruit dominated by elegant cherry and spicy aromas and flavors. Dry, puckering tannins. Supple and friendly Sangiovese characteristics. Turkish spice, anise, balsamic vinaigrette present in the background. Acidity present providing lift and intensity. Highly enjoyable and accessible. Decanted for 2hrs and 30 minutes which seemed perfect amount of time. Began to show its age after 3hrs and 45 minutes with fruit withdrawing somewhat and vegetal, old and musty aromas beginning to show. No rush - but if I had more, I would drink now.

Red fruit, grape sap and raisin. Nose is strawberry. Ripe with dominant jammy fruit. Heavy wine though. Non-fruit qualities include blood, rust, iodine, and saline. It is sweet, with high acid, high stemmy tannins and high alcohol. Oak and vanilla are also quite present. Tastes like merlot that has been blended with a tannic Cabernet. Not elegant. Drinking this wine was somewhat exhausting. Flavors at present not integrated but may improve. This bruiser of a wine settled down and integrated better after letting the remainder of the bottle sit for 4-5 hours - so suggest lots of aeration if you drink it this year.

Savory, bright red fruit, lashings of fine tannins. The wine looks brick and the legs are medium. It has a highly complex, indescribable bouquet. It is hard to nail down because the wine is somewhat backward right now, but might be best described as cranberry, gooseberry -- with marmalade and apple lurking. The body is medium. The wine has a rich mineral texture. The wine finishes long. Very enjoyable overall and clearly has a long life ahead. This is the second 2010 I have had; tastings are consistent. Would suggest not drinking this wine for a good 3-5 years. Give it at least 1-2 hours in the decanter if you decide to open one now.

Divine bouquet - truly knockout. It presents an almost orange color to dark yellow depending on the light. Viscous and rich. Interesting wine but not elegant. For my palate, overly sweet without the needed acidic spine to bring focus and give it structure.

Tempted by the reviews, I decided to open one against my better judgement. Clearly a majestic wine however it is at least 5 years away from its drinking window. Tannins very present and flavors haven't integrated. For Bryant, the bouquet is clipped and some might say, nearly closed down. So I disagree that it can be approached now. Don't commit infanticide with this one.

Smells like heaven. Lemon oil, baked brioche, mouthfilling excellence. Intensely rich, balanced - oh so balanced. Wish I could drink this every day.

Charming wine, on the lighter side, richly pinot, concentrated bouquet. Approachable now. Give it 30 min in a decanter.

Tasted alongside some great wines, such as 2005 Clarendon Hills Hickinbotham 2005, Chave Hermitage Blanc 2006, Rieussec 2003, but this topped them all for flawless enjoyability. Grand wine, perfectly balanced. Be sure to decant or 2+ hours.

Give it 2 hours of decanting. Will transform from a limp, disjointed mess into a cohesive package that echoes traits of former greatness. Fruit is virtually gone. Old, drink up.

Wonderful bouquet of rich dark fruits. Velvety, sophisticated, black, deep sweet fruit buttressed with iron and graphite. At its zenith. Some might say it is at the end of its long evolution but would guess its will drink very well for another 5-7 years. Very hedonistic.

Sophisticated, muscular and rich. Wonderful bouquet reminiscent of baked brioche. Bright acidic spine, layers of fruit with a lingering hint of lemon zest and tree oil. Just coming into its drinking range now, better in 3 years.

The first thing you will notice, if you give it the obligatory 2 hour decant and a swirl, is the monstrous bouquet of rich, plummy, black fruits. The inky, redolent wine commands respect even before you taste it. Immensely hedonistic, the mouthfeel is velvety, expansive and unctuous. It is surprisingly balanced and lurking beneath those otherworldly flavors are fine tannins. Like many Aussie wines of this depth and scale however, the finish is a little hot and the fruit overripe.
