with Martin at Pax. Hits peak after 3 hours (no decanting this time). Candied cherry, subtle vegetal edge (stewed green pepper), complex and beautifully balanced, well-integrated tannins. Upon first opening, some plum and subtle white pepper. Still carrying its perfectly-scaled acidic backbone, carrying the structure of this impressive beauty. 96.

in a profoundly beautiful place now - fully integrated acid, fruit and earth/leather/herbs. magnificent. needs 90 minutes for its acid backbone to calm down.

drinking beautifully now, though fruit is fading a bit - leather, sandalwood, white pepper on nose, dark berry and laurel on palate. drink up, it's not getting any better, methinks.

Sumptuous...gorgeously balanced flower, fruit, spice, and acidity, silky smooth tannins, long finish. Buy more. Drinking perfectly now, will age gracefully at least another 7-10 yrs.

D's b-day. Lovely yeast and (almost) fermenting apple balance, excellent crispness, nice bubble size and quantity. Strong QPR.

I'd give this a 93 for its first hour after uncorking, and dwindling down through the evening and thereafter to an 88-89 on day 2. Consider this a PnP at this point in its lifespan.

2nd try with this favourite...more grenache this time, opulent fruit, good structure. This will stand well for several years to come.
