Reductive, seductive and affordable. Loads of acid and great fruit that paired well with the meal. Kept getting better with more air. Bummed its my last bottle.

Richer, denser nose and more substance on palate than montée de tonnerre drunk alongside. Zesty lemon-lime nose. Delicious, extremely bright, foresty, mineral savour. Extremely long, slow fade is very satisfying, but finish is a bit too sweet. Nose also sweetish as warms and cloys a bit. Needs 5+ years.

In my opinion, as good a natural, amber wine as those produced by Josko Gravner (ie about as good as they get). Drunk over two evenings, watching it evolve. Bright dark amber colour. A complex, detailed bouquet with notes of honeycomb, minerals, apricot, cinnamon, lemon zest, dried herbs, dessert almonds, dried leaf and caramel. Savoury, energy on entry, it becomes more savoury and dry as it moves across the palate. Rich and full. Mainly secondary or developed flavours including toffee, caramel, peach and apricot, mandarin and grapefruit, baking spices, minerals, earth and white mushroom. Vibrant acidity. Appropriately oxidative. Dense and weighty, tactile and almost tannic-seeming. Very long. Drink or hold.

Popped (after lunch) to taste a little, before corking back again to be drunk during dinner. Very "white flowers" plus a tad of reduction, not so much the burnt matchstick/rubber type, but more the "soapy" type. This was more about minerality and lemons/citrus on the palate, with a long finish. Let's see how this turns out during dinner...

Delicious.
Young but definitely ready to drink.
Sauvage nose, strong notes of petrol, bright dark fruit, crisp tannins. Brilliant.
Rated 2 on a scale of -1 to 3.

2011 Domaine Bertheau (Pierre et François) Chambolle-Musigny Pinot Noir
PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs
-med dark red with purple tinge
-fragrant gorgeous red fruit elicits a mouth-watering response at first pour
-med/med+ acidity leaves a faintly tart note on the finish, med- weight though moderately concentrated black cherry liqueur raspberry mineral, respectably long finish med- tannins
-excellent Chambolle village wine drinking very well now in the zone

Consuming this at Vineria Modi in Taormina. Maybe there is slight location bias but this delivers for its price, especially with 45 minutes of air. Probably a top 5 wine in terms of salinity. Yes it is mute with a short finish but a perfect accompaniment to the local white fishes you’ll see on menus here. I’m trying this in advance of ordering any Etna Bianco Superiores.

8/21/18, 12:48 PM - I was there earlier today! Went to Il Buongustaio for a meat and cheese plate after tasting at Calabretta. I’m off for an Etna hike in the morning (tasting at Biondi post-hike) and then on to Pantelleria Thursday for two nights (tasting at Serraghia) but please send some recs! I need to come back. Love this place.

Oh my...
My bottle was very one dimentional and felt hot with alcohol.
It was just like something in between a cheap sauvignon blanc and a cheap rhone blanc.
Hope it was a bottle variation.

Blind Post-Christmas Lunch Tasting: Served a touch too warm as it came out of the cellar for lunch. Light gold in color. A broad and giving aromatic profile with tangerine, lime peel and apricots. A wow, round and luscious palate that has precision and lift from tart underlying acids. Long, lemony finish is bright and long. A lovely, complex Chard that still shows primary.

This thing is drinking so well. It has complex aromatics of citrus, salt, butter and white flowers. It is full and rich yet has terrific detail. Flavours really build through the palate and converge on a singular point of geological matter. The finish is dry, chalky and long.
  • WG Johns@n commented:

2/11/15, 4:20 PM - Thanks for the note. When I tried almost 2 years ago, the oak was more than noticeable. How is it now?

This followed the Kutch Sonoma Coast in the tasting, and as it was notably lighter in body and more focused on its acids, there was a bit of a letdown. I look back to the prior bottle of this wine, and my notes were pretty consistent - red fruit, acid, elegance. It just got stuck in a tough place.
  • WG Johns@n commented:

2/2/15, 10:18 AM - Thanks for the note. You had the wines without food right? Do you think putting the Ceritas before the Kutch would change your opinion? Any decant?

Clear, medium ruby color. Clean aromas, high intensity, with primary fig notes and secondary clove, black tea, lavender & crushed stone- youthful/developing. Dry on the palate with medium+ acid, moderate tannin and medium body. Racy and full primary fruit flavors of ripe fig and red apple skin, along with seamless layers of secondary depth- mineral, light florals, cracked pepper, clove, tea leaf- precise and intense. Great presence throughout, with silky airy-fine tannins. Finished dry with moderate length and floral/red fruit notes. This was very lithe and dainty when opened, it light up with just a little bit of air. Outstanding- glad I have another for proper aging.
