Red fruits, sweet spice, and roses on the nose with hints of sous bois, but the nose kept playing hide and seek after being open for quite a while. The palate was rich with room to grow with long finish. This wine needs more time, bury them in the cellar.

Each sip was like gargling rocks of the highest caliber, and the nose with green fruits, lemon zest, creme fraiche, and a slight nuttiness. The wine has tremendous structure and shows why Chez Lamy has chosen to plant in Haute Densite format. This wine punches well above its weight class, and will continue to improve.

Very reductive upon opening, but the funk blew off after a quick decant. The nose was quite tertiary with forest floor, smoke, olive, but then some black fruits came into the mix. The palate was concentrated and quite resolved leading to long finish. This wine is reminder of its past beauty and should be drunk now.

Popped and slow decanted with the nose showing black olives, bbq, bacon, black fruits, camp fire, and black pepper. They were layers of complexity on the nose as the rich palate kept improving with more time. The fruit remained in the background as the tertiary aromas dominated. The acidity was quite prevalent showing the wine can age longer. It's in the zone right now, but will keep for another 5 years or so. Drink or hold.

This wine was a bulldozer with searing minerality. Honeysuckle, green apple, lemon zest, hazelnuts, and wet rocks on the nose with a super concentrated palate that was like liquid gravel, ending with a long finish. The roundness of the vintage was evident, so this MP is for mid-term drinking. I'm not sure 2005 white burgundy will last as long as the original vintage assessment, but they are very enjoyable right now.

This wine burst of the glass with red fruits, sous bois, cinnamon, roses, and truffle. The palate was rich and concentrated with hints of minerality associated with CLDR. The palate has room to improve, but the wine shows tremendous length with structure for the long haul. With a nose this pretty its hard not to drink these. It's no surprise Truchot's wines have sky rocketed in price.

Very reductive upon opening with that dirty diaper aroma I associate with old syrah. A quick decant, and with a half hour or so the wine straightened out. It was smokey with black fruits, olives, and forest floor aromas, but seemed less layered and pronounced with darker fruit then the '98 Verset. It was also more primary on the palate, with a long finish. It was enjoyable but outclassed by the Verset. There's still room for upside with cellaring.

Nose was bursting from the glass of bramble, black fruit, mint, black pepper, olive and meat. It was rather pronounced with gobs of concentrated fruit on the palate, leading to a sensational finish. The wine was multi layered and seems to hit its stride. The acidity remains in tack for some further aging, but it will be hard to keep your hands off this one. It out shined the allemand les Chaillots '98 on this evening.

Clos de la Roche really is Morey St. Denis' answer to Chambertin. The power of the palate coupled with the minerality makes this a top Grand Cru in the hands of Dujac. The nose was reticent but gave way to sweet spice, which is Dujac's signature, red fruits, sous bois, roses, and sauvage. This is showing very well as of last, and I would not hesitate to drink up.

The color in the glass was opaque ruby with bricking around the rim. At first the nose showed manly mushroom and sweet spice then with a little air the nose really blossomed with tart red cherries, leather, roses, and a menthol note. Finish was never ending and what a thrill to drink this! The Ducs is really Grand Cru quality and has tremedous aging potential. This is a true bucket list wine. Drink up.

A little reticent upon the nose when opened, but the wine needed some air or to stretch its legs. After a half hour or so, that Vosne nose came through with forest floor, black cherry, sweet spice, roses, and hoisin. The palate thickened up and the wine was really roaring. Dujac really never disappoints and it will be wonderful to see in ten years how this wine shows, and also witness the progression of quality with this new plot. Drink or hold.

Initially upon opening the wine didn't really show the characteristics of a vintage Barolo. The nose was way too giving, with truffles, roses, tar, fennel and red fruits. In my experience, Barolos this old tend to take time to slowly unwind when opened. The color was a bit off too, and it looked to be a ruby of a much younger wine. Perhaps some refinishing had occurred at some point. Nonetheless the wine was a pleasure to drink but was overshadowed by the '64 Mascarello. It had a moderate finish which I expected more from. Drink up

Upon the cork being pulled there were aromas of florest floor and truffle with a opaque ruby color in the glass with bricking around the rim. After about 1-2 hours the wine really opened up with cherries, roses, tar, balsamic, and cinnamon/sweet spice on the nose. The palate was rich without the heaviness a younger Barolo would show, and the finish just went on and on. The acidity was amazing for such an old wine and it really out shined the Burlotto '64. Well stored bottles are a treasure, so drink up.

Nose of roses, truffles, sweet spice and red fruits with nice zippy acidity. The finish is long with the iron fist wrapped in velvet characteristic being very apparent. This is showing very well, but I wouldn't be in any rush to open more. This should keep evolving for years to come with the acid backbone it has.

Cork was a perilous, as expected.

Decanted and the wine smelled of roses and mushrooms and on the palate there was lingering finish of tart red cherries. The acidity was fantastic for a wine of this age, and it really opening up after an hour or so where the tertiary notes of tar, truffles and cedar gave way to some red fruit dipped in licorice. Drink now, but could hold a year or two. Old nebbiolo is thrilling!

Took around 3-5 hours to open up. At first, it seemed oxidized, but quickly blew off and showed some mushrooms and forest floor notes. After a few hours roses, tar, licorice, plum and cinnamon came forward on the nose with red cherries more so on the palate. This wine showed it's best during hour 5. It takes patience with old Barolo, but its well worth it. Drink up.

Lots of black fruits, violets, black pepper, and some anise or fennel on the nose. The finish is long with some grippy tannins which smooth out over an hour to two in glass. Very approachable now, but will gain some tertiary notes with more time. Wish I had more.

Started out with some real barnyard/stable aromas(reduction), but after two hours really transformed. Palate became very rich with herbal notes, evergreen, olive, meat, black fruits emerging on the nose. There was a floral element adding to the rustic elegance of the wine. I would drink up and recommend decanting in advance. This wine needs patience when opened.

White flower, almonds, lemon zest, white peach, and wet rocks on the nose. This wine was very balanced, and I dare say the Chablis of Sicily. I would definitely re-buy, but I think this has further upside for aging. Also I wouldn't serve this wine too cold because of it's complexity. It opened up when it was taken out of the ice bucket to warm up a bit.

Opened up and quickly decanted off the sediment with a nose of mushrooms and wet forest floor. After around two hours, the nose transformed into tar and roses, and then the primary fruit began to come about with some kirsch like cherries. The fruit began to resemble red cherries after around 3 hours and the finish was very long. 5th hour was magical. Drink up.

I don't think this wine exhibited the heat from the '97 vintage, if anything this showed that '97's are ready to be enjoyed. Pop and poured with a nose of red and black cherries, violets, truffles, and anise which after an hour or so the wine expanded and showed the iron fist wrapped in velvet aspect of Musigny. In a great place, definitely drink up.

Smokey red fruits, and nice minerality that's showing very well. Tannins are well integrated with exceptional balance throughout. This is good juice and with a decant paired well with pizza. Rebuy for sure.

Maraschino red cherries, licorice, baking spice on the nose. A very alluring nose that makes me understand why Rayas is so Burgundian in character. This wine showed well and will hold up for years, but it's in a great place.

Signature gunflint on the nose with lemon zest, pear, and even hints of hazelnuts. This wine screamed Meursault while just at the AOC level. Coche wines always punch above there weight class. This is a classy wine showing really well, but will hold up for a few years. Drink or hold.

Smokey cocoa, dark cherries, violets, and anise on the nose. The tannins were clamping down at first, but after an hour of being decanted they calmed down and the wine offered a nice long finish. There's definite evidence of oak, and I would give this a few more years to settle in.

Very complex rose with a nice salmon hue in the glass. One the nose: lots of the red fruits, pomegranate, and an herbal element that played nicely with the minerality of wine. Tart and fresh, but will continue to age. I think Cotat's rose's are great with an extra year of age, but can age even longer. This is a rose for thinkers.

On the nose: lemon curd, yellow apple, wet rocks, honeysuckle, and almonds. This was singing and in a great place. Oak was fairly transparent, but seemed more new and wasn't overbearing. Drink now or hold. Should keep for some time, but it's showing very well.

Real perfume on the nose with maraschino cherries, cloves, and some barnyard earth aspect which really brought the wine together. It had bricking around the edges with a nice ruby hue in the glass, but the tertiary notes gave this wine a sense of age with it showing the '97 vintage with some heat on the palate. The finish and mouthful were elegant, but this is ready to drink but could age a few more years. Drink up.

This wine took a while to open up with the typical Barolo nose of tar and licorice coming through first and then later the black cherries and thyme began to resonate. The tannins are well structured and finish was long. This showed the vintage and is highly approachable right now. Drink or hold.

What a Chambolle like nose from Barolo. Verduno Barolos are known for there fragrance and this did not disappoint. On the nose: violets, plum, blueberry, licorice, and cherries. Very approachable right now, considering the hot 2000 vintage, but will drink for a many years. Drink or hold.

Lychee, apricot, honeysuckle, and peach on the nose. This wine has lots of balance considering the high abv and shows lots of finesse. A medium plus bodied wine that supplies a lengthy finish. I would like to revisit this wine in a few years, but tough to say how long.

It took a while after decanting for the bouquet to come around. The nose was quite reticent, but then after a half hour loads of black fruit, tar, licorice, and roses came way. This wine is still young, but the tannins have calmed down and make for nice drinking experience. I would hold out on these for another few years.

One of the best 2002's I've had all year. I've found most of them to show well, but will benefit from more time. One the nose: red fruit with pomegranate and blood orange withe some baking spice. This is juicey juice, and is meant to be guzzled. We drank it with a slight chill and the wine wasn't affected. Definitely reminded me of Beaujolais, perhaps Mr. Pfifferling uses Carbonic Maceration on this like his Tavel. Great juice!

Lemon, seashells, and honeysuckle on the nose, but lacking in the wow department for Raveneau, but still delicious. I think this wine needs more time, and will check back with it in a couple years. It looks like the '09's maybe going through a muted phase which they'll come out of in a few years.
