OK, it poured brick red rather than bright red and yes the fruit was a little muted, but overall, for a merlot that's 11 years old, this was tasting very good. Dark red/blue plums on the nose and palate with soft tannins and acidity. Very enjoyable.

For 20 years old, this one tasted a little 'hot', which I was expecting. Dark purple in the glass, dark plums and blackberries on the nose and palate. Some earth and a little vanilla, too, but overall, a little disappointing.

It's interesting ... we haven't tasted this wine since September of last year and right now, it isn't tasting as good as last time ... and yes, since wine is 'a living thing', it's going to change and sadly, it just wasn't as good ... but we're not giving up on it because we know that Elyse people work hard at making great wines and we know that the next bottle will be better.

Another consistent bottle. Still not there, but damn ... I wish I had bought more as I think this one would really be even better in a couple of years.

We're regulars at Napa ... bought a timeshare in the northwest corner just off the Silverado Trail for $100 on ebay. We were members of Chalk Hill and switched to Roth ... cheaper! We attended a Foley Family wine dinner in Hilton Head last March ... great food and great wine! We're heading to Napa in mid-July and will hit all their wineries in the area ... makes me thirsty!!

I paid how much for this?! What a disappointment. Although it poured dark, it wasn't as big as promised. There was some dark cherry on the nose and palate, but the acidity overpowered the wine making it 'hot' on the palate and a disappointment for what I paid ... BUMMER!

6/4/15, 6:16 PM - Well it was almost 3 years ago ... maybe your bottle had aged and was better. Mine wasn't ... sorry!
