For this of us not very familiar with AlbariƱo, this is a real treat. If you're used to other types of whites, the first taste may seem a bit thin, but this one really grows on you. It's extremely well balanced, and its interesting notes are subtle and become more obvious with time. Too bad it's hard to find!

10/16/21, 3:40 PM - The 2012 vintage of this very wine got me started on this grape! The co-winemaker of this still makes this and another Spanish white, Godello, under the Cave Dog label. Highly recommended.

My last note from 2 yrs ago was that this was unfortunately past its prime. Forgot about that and didn't drink last bottle until now ... the fruit may have faded a bit, but it was a very good bottle and I didn't have the same reaction as last time. However I still don't think the wine is worth the price point vs. other zins even with nicer packaging.

Pretty fruit in the glass on first pour; the coastal syrah showed its feminine side. Unfortunately after a couple hour decant the perfume subdued and the oak monster came out. New oak and syrah never works for me and thus this bottle disappointed greatly. Otherwise a well made wine, great balance, yada yada.

Uebberoth is consistently my favorite of the Turley Zins. I always look forward to cracking into the "next" vintage and it was 2013's turn. Balanced, medium weight, definitely wears its ABV well. Red/purple profile. Some pomegranate and dusty tannins. Served with a bacon wrapped porchetta and that did nicely. Frankly, the wine outshone the dish (which was a bit dry!...says the chef). Tannins well resolved, this is ready now. My wife, who is a big zin fan, really liked this, as did I. More there than just the fruit, lingering dried herbs on the finish, and silky red fruit. Refined, if that is permitted, as a Zin descriptor ;)

Pleasant nose of creosote and smoke. Palate of blueberry but with an underlying acetone framework that hints that the fruit is fading. If you still have I'd drink sooner rather than later
