Good color deep garnet, no bricking. Earth aromas and flavors dominate. Evolved a bit in the glass over an hour plus. Saved about 150ml to try the next day (corked in fridge.) A bit more fruit but no oxidation. Might be in a dumb phase.

Similar to my 12/2019 tasting note. Still evolving and needs 1 hour decant or in the glass.

Still drinking well but not a thrilling as it was years ago. Who knows where this is going as it is a unique (and rare) blend from Stephan.

agree with recent notes. good balance, needs about 15 mins in glass to blow off funk and open up. might improve with age but in a good window right now.

Agree with other recent notes. Fruit fading but the maturation is producing a beautiful, integrated, palate. Left a glass in an open decanter for 24 hours and wine developed further without oxidation.

Pop and poured. Fruit and non-fruit flavors in balance. Takes a few minutes to open in the glass so a light decant is probably beneficial. Remains one of the "grand cru" of California Pinots. Developing.

Too young - very tight BUT after pouring only 1 glass and letting rest corked in the bottle for 24 hours causes this wine to blossom. Score for pop & pour 89, after 24 hours 95

Maturing beautifully. Still good fruit presence. Great balance and length. Great bargain from Garagiste after a long hold.

Popped and poured. This wine is not past a good drinking window. Good fruit / tannin balance with nice texture and finish. Was stored at cellar temp so perhaps that accounts for my bottles holding up so well. I don't think it will improve much so drink up.

Wow, this is drinking good right now (Sadly it was my last bottle.) After 13 years of bottle age this is singing - great aromatics, texture, integration, and finish. Syrah needs age! Bravo to Copain and SBC Syrah!

Agree with other recent notes - entering a good drinking phase - been waiting so long! Nicely integrated, rich, but not over the top. Will cellar my last bottle for a couple years to see where it goes.

Still fruit forward but beautifully intense and balanced. Not sure when scores here are in the low 90s, this wine (IMHO) is superior to most of what comes out of Napa and is aging beautifully.

Drank next to a 2009 James Barry V and despite the proportions of GSM being identical, they are very different wines. This wine was darker and had more tannins. This wine needs a decant and more time in the cellar.

Drank next to a 2009 Bone Rock (JBV) and despite the proportions of GSM being identical, they are very different wines. This wine was lighter and had lower tannins and in a great drinking window (but will improve with more age.)

My tasting note from 7 years ago is laughable! This wine is only now hitting its stride. Beautifully balanced and still has nice fruit! Great texture and long finish. A real education for me!

Solid wine but a bit too much fruit and not my favorite bottling of Saxum (although I think the 2009 is exceptional.) Perhaps it needs more time.

Agree with others recent notes. This bottle doesn't come together on my palate - seems a bit disjointed. Minimal evidence of maturity so maybe all this means it needs cellar time?

Agree with @WGMCCALLUM recent note. I just liked it a bit more than that. No decant, nice evolution in the glass, after 2 hours, fruit faded but still enjoyable. I think it will improve with age, alas, this was my last bt.

Cellared in temp controlled locker. Drinking beautifully right now and leftover glass very nice the next day. Well built. Didn't expect much from this vintage.

Can't improve on @TWARD notes. I forgot about a few oz of leftover in the bottle, ungassed, but refrigerated for 4 days and the wine still held up. Built for the long haul.

Yes, this is still a ripe, extracted, wine. But it is beautifully integrated and the tannins are very silky. Aging very well (hard to tell it's almost a decade old.) This bottle had been cellard properly which probably helped.

Personally cellared since 2005, this is still fresh and vital with little signs of reaching maturity. Fruit forward but well balanced. Pleasant upon first pour, it opened up beautifully in the glass over an hour.

This is really singing now! Wow, took sooo long to soften up but it finally did. Still benefits from a short decant but it's also pop & pourable.
