What a lovely wine and a notch up from the Bevan and Realm which I've also had recently. Tons of tropical fruit, honeysuckle, and grapefruit. The oak is nicely integrated, but has plenty of acidity. Tastes like 100% French oak, but have not confirmed. This is a SB you can keep drinking all day, unlike the Bevan or Realm which quenched my thirst after one glass. There is nice weight and some complexity. I'd love to see Lewis source some Semillon and create a white BDX style wine.

First time trying DP in many years. I was hoping this was going to be an aha experience, but unfortunately underwhelmed our group. This might be fun to taste against the Krug editions, which are similar in level of concentration and minerality. However, the DP was not even on the radar to vintage Krug, which is a personal favorite. I'd rather take one 2002 Krug over two of these 2008 DP Legacy all day.

Still quite tannic, but after several hours of air, it was open for business this evening. Served in Zalto burg glasses. Color was bright red and brown, yet very translucent. Notes of asphalt and dried cherries. Very classic Piedmonte flavors of leather, tobacco, earth and some rose. Plenty of dark cherry unripened fruit, refined with minerality. We absolutely loved it!

Sourced from Winebid. Celebrated my brother's birthday in style and there was nothing but smiles around the table at first sip. The gorgeous black and red fruit was layered without a hard edge. There is distinguishable olive note that everyone found. I wished I could've studied this wine slowly all night. However, the glass we each had went quickly. I'm hoping the 2015 Kayli Morgan will be similar or even better in another 13 years.

Lemon-rind, honeysuckle, tropical fruit with a little white pepper. Creamy, yet has a fresh crispness to it which may be from the additional percentage of SB (33%). The perfect LPD in 14' had only 24% which must have been why the weight and complexity of that vintage was so distinct. Only have two left of the 14' and wished I had backed up the truck.

Cloudy, almost unfiltered looking. One dimensional with little to no complexity. This was outshined by a couple other SBs half the cost. Drank over two nights. Will save last two bottles for several more months. Hoping it's in a shock phrase or something.

Another wonderful experience with this wine, the table loved it. Such earthy complex aromas with deep black fruit. If you love old world style wines, you have to seek out a bottle. We sourced our bottle directly through the winery, and I assume they still have a few left.

Sourced from a great cellar. Perfect cork. Red and black fruit, with notes of rose and cedar, like an older Pauillac. Has that classic damp cellar note that is so pronounced in older Dunns. The wine is still holding up, but the complexity is fading. A little rough around the edges which I do not think will change in time, unlike the 88' I had last year which was smooth all around. This wine is clearly at its apex, but will be probably staying plateaued for another 5-10 years. While enjoyable, this wine did not "wow" anyone at the table. For $200, I would not buy again.

Some may enjoy this now, but personally I find this brutally young and in need of 10+ years to mellow out it's bulldozer tannins and meatiness. There is a underlying perfume that is holding back its true scent. The rose accents taste like your also ingesting the earth around them, and the tar notes are painfully pungent. You better have some Bolognese or a rack of lamb to cut the acid. What this wine lacks in elegance (like the Rabaja) makes up for in body, that will carry it for a couple decades longer, minimum.

Nursed over the last week and a half, checking in every couple days. While enjoyable young, this needs a few years to knit together. If the blend tastes this good, I can only imagine their SVs are next level. Looking forward to trying their Dr. Crane, my favorite valley floor vineyard.

Enjoyed at Bencotto. This wine outshined the cuisine this evening. A mature Brunello drinking at its apex, lots of tobacco, earth, and red fruit. Has a touch of elegance which is very noticeable. If 2001 tastes this good, I can't wait until 2010 in another decade; a perfect wine when tried on release.

I just love this wine. Dried flowers, earth, roses, tobacco, and cedar. This wine should really be enjoyed while having the time to contemplate it's beauty and perfume, preferably alongside a nice cut of steak. Definitely NOT a cocktail wine. Anyone who appreciates the subtlety of aged BDX will love this wine.

Thought this would be a PNP, nope. This needs a minimum 5+ hour decant. Probably best to pop, check-in, re-cork and enjoy a few days later. Once it got some O2, it came full circle from a beast to a beauty! Unlike the elegant 2012 which was PNP ready, this vintage is all about power and will most likely overtake it's predecessor with more complexity once it comes together, probably 4-5 years. Wouldn't shock me at all to see this baby soaring in 10 years. However, until then, stick with the 2012s IMO, they're pretty yummy right now.

Hard not to nail this as Syrah if tasted blind. However, the finish is more N.Rhone than other Syrah I've tried in CA. Mix of black and blue fruit, spice, olive, and beef jerky. Smooth, went down quick. Paired great with beef broccoli stew. Definitely could age another 5-10 more years, but drinking great right now.

Just a lovely CA pinot. Light, but richly elegant with a long finish. You really can't go wrong with Calera Selleck, even in non-favorable vintages.

Also purchased from Winebid, $56. Took the office out for Holiday dinner and this was enjoyed after an UltraMarine de Noir and followed by Cayuse Impulsivo and Realm The Bard. The Calera was WOTN and a couple guests commented on how it was one of the best Pinots they had ever tried. The Selleck had a beautiful ruby glow and the elegance of it flavors were intoxicating. We could've scratched the Tempranillo and Cabernet, and stuck with this Pinot all night as this was firing on all cylinders.

I will agree with the previous comments, this wine didn't have the exuberance of previous vintages I've tried. The funk was there, but it lacked the elegance and complexity. Not even close to the 2006 or 2008.

Definitely a step-up from my last tasting in Feb. Less flabby, more integrated and elegant. Probably could use another a couple years, but even after a 30min decant it was enjoyable. I'm now more excited to try my 2016s.

Purchased through Wine Connection in Del mar. Bottle was sourced through a local restaurant who had it well cellared. Beautiful gold color with slightly waxy body. Loved the mild complexity. Lemon, melon, ripe apple, and a little cola. I have only had a few older reislings and this was an eye opener. Is it really only 9% alcohol?

Perfume was rolling out the glass after a two hour decant. The dried roses, cedar, candied oranges, and some sweet cherries are what make this wine special. However, there is a tannic tone leaving an unresolved finish, might be better in another 10+ years.

Quite austere, lacking complexity, this tannic juice is either shutdown or this vintage is really over hyped; I'm still on the fence. Given the above par professional reviews, I'll lean towards this wine having potential, but holding back everything great it has to offer. Dusty cherry balsamic flavors coat the mineral finish. I'm noticing that of the few 2013 Bdms grand crus I've tried, they're having more similarities to 2006, but lacking the elegance. 2010 was lighter in body and less tannic, but shared the similarity of lacking the perfume and elegance. Off the radar from 2001 which was perfectly balanced out the gate and full of perfume. This 2013 is definitely not an early drinker and will need some serious cellar time, like 15-20+ years. If trying today, you better decant for many hours. 91-92+

Sourced again through WineBid, but had to pony up a little more this time. The good news, it was still alive with plenty of fruit left. Even a member of our group who dislikes really old Napa cabs, thought it was great. Classic old church smells with cedar and tobacco, but still sweet tannins. Based on how the 78' tasted earlier this year (tannic and less fruit), it's interesting to notice the vibrant fruit in a warmer vintage such as 77'. This wine was not as textured as the last bottle, nor was the notable molasses flavor apparent as I remember. Therefore, it might be bottle variation or storage history that made this experience a little different. Either way, the overall representation of this wine was similar and enjoyable. We visited SM this last month and I was able to secure a 1979 mag. It will be interesting to see how that compares with this one.

I do not have much experience with aged Sauternes. This wine was still very much alive with typical notes of honey, apricot, peach, even apple. I wished the backend had more complexity, but overall the group liked it.

Enjoyed at Cowboy Star steak house with the guys for our Gentlemen's Quarterly Review. This wine took WOTN as expected. A kaleidoscope of flavors: black fruit, baking spice, plum, and chocolate. The multi-layered texture and sweet tannins stay completely in balance throughout every sip. Noticeably elegant and hedonistic, this wine will only need a few years to reach a 100pt review IMO. Just a little heat that I think melt into the wine once the tannins take down their guard. This wine in 10-15 years is going to be absolutely absurd.

A few days ago, I popped and let breath for few mins and then corked and placed back into the refrigerator. I poured a glass tonight and wow, this was a rockin'! Reminds me of Aubert from a cooler climate with less wax. I can somewhat understand how Jeb gave this a perfect score, it has wonderful aromatics and a unique flavor on first sip. The honeysuckle, butterscotch, white flowers and citrus flavors are enchanting. However, the crescendo dissipates a little instead of lingering on. Solid 96+ at this moment IMO. While I really enjoyed this wine, I do not this it has the stuffing to evolve into a 100pt wine. However, there is acid, so we'll see where this evolves in another few years, maybe another a point or two. Glad I took a flyer on a few at release. For $65, it's definitely worth the money.

A great start to our evening tasting of cult Napa cabs. Very crisp and complex aromas of citrus and white flowers. Not as much depth or color as the 2002 Krug I had last month, but a fantastic Champagne. I've never had older bubbles (more than 10 years beyond release date), but suspect this will last well beyond that.

It was nice to check in on this wine, but in a flight of other tier one Napa wines, it took last place. If you can forget this wine in your cellar for another 20-25 years, you might have a dead ringer for how superb the 1994 is drinking today. An upside of 2-3pts in another couple decades.

The artwork definitely fits its character. Wild in flavor, multi-dimensional, and truly hedonistic, while keeping balance. Dark cherry fruit, cassis, vanilla, cloves, dark chocolate and underlying spice are very apparent. The finish lasts a minute. This wine needs another 5-7 years and it will be 100pts

At Ruths Chris paired with charred medium rare filet, after 2002 Krug Vintage. Nothing but praise over this wine. Dense fruit with chocolate and spice overtones, similar to Caymus Special Selection. Since the vineyards are just a couple mins away from each other, it is apparent the fruit is of similar quality. I will definitely be purchasing a few of the 2015s as I hear it's next level.

Purchased from Vintage Wines who acquired it back from the original buyer on release. The cellar is very well preserved from was I was told. Beautiful from PNP. Seems like this is at its apex. Mildly complex, with notes of tobacco and fresh cedar. Lots of black pepper. After about an hour, the flavors started to mute and it was on the decline. Very fun and worth the ticket.

Been nursing over the last week. Purchased through WineBid a couple weeks ago. Another case study that purchasing during warm weather may could have compromised the bottle. Compared to a 1977 and 1978, which I enjoyed back in Fall 2017, this wasn't even in the same league. It was if this wine never came together. More fruit forward than expected, but zero complexity and nuance. The secondary flavors were not as enjoyable as I had hoped for. For 85' being a higher reviewing and rating vintage, this one missed the mark. Note, I have another bottle which I'll try in a few months. Hopefully, this bottle just had variation.

PNP and enjoyed every sip to the end. Crème de cassis was what I remembered. Dense, but not overly extracted. Dark, but not opaque. Smooth, but not over malolactic. Overall, a very good wine that hit all the senses just right. I guess I need to try the Materium, as I hear it's next level.

Had right before a 2006 Araujo Eisele. While I remember being enjoyable, it was eclipsed. I wrote down a score but forgot to take notes. I do remember it could have used a few more years to drink similar to how I remember 2001 drinking, which is my favorite vintage to date.
