Deep, dark purple color. Must and forest floor combine with berries (blue and black predominate). Cedar and cassis and traditional bordeaux and Washington State profile flavors. It's been almost 3 years since I popped one of these and we really enjoyed it! This win ewill last a long time. Took a few hours to fully open.

Almost a fruit bomb but not quite. Lots of beautiful berries (raspberry especially). Nicely balanced and for $8.99 a steal. Needs some time perhaps but drinkable now. Great everyday value. Cocoa, spice, pepper. Just a nice little wine!

I don't know how to adequately rate this wine. It is a huge wine. The flavor is so deep and intense that it lingers for a long time on the palate. It brings mostly raspberry and lots of cherry and blackberry and strawberry and spice and tannins and mocha and cocoa and more.98 points at the California state fair this year, double gold. Is it a "real" 98 point wine? No. It's a fruit bomb with candy-like flavors of sorts, but for $17-18 it's an enjoyable one and it is not as disgustingly bomb-ish as, say, Molly Dooker. I enjoyed it yet it was disturbingly intense, if that makes sense. It's made by Oak Ridge Winery in Lodi that makes the truly awful Maggio line of supermarket wines. I liked this wine, I must admit, yet I am not sure I would buy it again. Had it with beef fajitas. Nice pairing with the spice.

This wine is drinking well. I began with a bottle in October 2010 (not ready), but it began to hit a stride in early February 2011. I drank the first case in a year and when the 2009 came out I ordered 4 cases of the 2008, 2 for me and two for my two brothers in law and two friends (6 bottles each). I am now down to 18 left.

The 2008 has all the traditional Noceto sour cherry, moist earth and beautiful dark red frutiness, complexity and depth one expects. The 2008 has a little smokiness, which may be from the 2008 fires in California. whatver it is, it is a nice wine and drinks a little better every time I try it.

My Cellar Tracker is grossly out of date, so this is catch up.

Riedel Glass Demonstration (Josef Barbados Restaurant): 89 is based on what this is- a hugely oaky and buttery chard. Not my style, but if you like this it would score at that level. Not for me. The butter was ok, but there was not a drop of minerality and it lacked complexity I like in a chard. But some rave over these wines so to be fair I scored it base do nit's style and not my personal preferences.

Nose: dusty saddle leather, muskiness, sour cranberry, cassis, . Flavors: dusty saddle leather, red fruits (cranberry), some oak, dried mushroom/earth with light body. I really felt it was starting to fade. Had it any decent finish I might have gone 90 pts.

Pleasant, almost overly sweet for a spatlese. It took a long while to open up. Once it did there was some nice balancing acidity and body yo supplement the sugary sweetness. Seemed almost like a auslese but not quite. Peachy melon is a rich syrup with a little tart mid palate. Decent finish. Probably one to lay down.

Wow. This was a Wine Bid find and it was great. Beautiful deep and dark nose and flavors. dark musty earth, raisin, red fruit, smoke; rustic and charming at the same time. After 12 years it had lots of fruit but was developed and intense. Loved this one, too.

Beautiful, supple and elegant. Hints of menthol and eucalyptus. It sneaks up on you and tells you how good it is. I likened it to a bordeaux style, unusual for the source. Very nicely done.

Lost most of it's fruit but it still had a little. Meaty, earthy, dusty, a smallest hint of new band aid, tobacco, dried prune, raisins; a nice older bordeaux. Bordered on outstanding but not quite.

The tannins have softened some and rounded out. The cherry fruit was there but it was part of just a huge mouthfeel and set of flavors. Earth, a little spice, maybe even cola but not from a sweet perspective. Lingering finish, gorgeous wine. Hints of orange around the edges seem like it was a few years ago- this will age well. I really loved this wine.

The best Gancia spumante version I've had. Dryer than the others, not as sweet, but the flavors get toned down with the lack of sweetness. Still, it was a great apertif.

The nose was huge on opening and continued as the wine got some air. The fragrance consisted of earth and mushroom with plummy overtones. The flavors were like an unspoiled forest floor after a deep rain, with potting soil, mushrooms, vegetables more like like green peppers and a rich fruitiness in layer after layer of flavor. The taste lingered nicely. Very enjoyable wine!

I was somewhat disappointed. This wine was a bit lackiing in complexity from most of David Lake's wines. It was very good but lacked depth. Some cherry, earthy, pepper to the palate but it fell a bit sort.

Beautiful complex nose and flavors. Bright cherry and heat on the nose, big sour cherry, earth, cassis, and coffee grounds on the palate. This has lots and lots of life left but is drinking ok. Nice clean vegetal/bell pepper on the finish. I reallly enjoyed this bottle. Decanted almost 3 hours/
