Loads of savoury blackberry. Cassis. Excellent freshness. This is really starting unwind now. Medium plus to full mouthfeel. Nice integrated wood notes. Cinnamon. Touch of smokiness. Very long. Plush.

Decanted for a while. This is has gotten loads better since I last tried it

This wine draws some very varied reviews... It's important to let it come to about 12 degrees temp centigrade at least, in fact it works almost better at 13-14. I think this is because it is still quite restrained, nothing at all on the nose at 8 degrees and at 10 you start getting vanilla, which grows with the temperature. On the palate again there is not much apart from the vanilla until you get to 12 degrees, but after that you get a bit more - layers of some exotic fruits, very pleasant. We drank this against the 2013 second wine (L'Esprit de Chevalier), which was the more approachable at lower temperatures. I don't know if this actually will open cup more or if it is designed to drink at closer to room temperature, other white Bordeaux wines have not been like this; I will wait a few years with the rest of my case.

Great great pinot!

This was pure cherry juice. The acidity was great and showed perfect potential and structure. This wine should be really good in 5 years time.

2/20/21, 6:37 AM - I had this recently and rated it slightly higher, so I guess the age maybe has done that?? Anyway if you have more I thought it was drinking really well. Cheers.

Pretty savoury actually this on both the nose and palette. Some spice. Not really fruit driven particularly for me. Lovely balance. Some background darker red fruits. To me it's more at the lighter meaty end of the spectrum. Richness. Maybe duck or game. Not sous bois like burgundy.

Would get again. Great stuff.

had again recently. Is doing well with a bit more age.

Pale red and trans lucent. Really lovely clarity. On the nose and the pallet a real sense of fresh warm summer strawberries. And cream. The longer it is open it moves to slightly macerated strawberries.

Dinner For Returning Friends (Our House, Hong Kong): Decanted for 2+ hours then drank slowly over the next four. The 10th time I have drank this wine. Dark, semi-opaque purple/ruby colour...still looks very young. Nose of Thai chicken green curry - galangal, fresh ginger, chicken broth, small Thai green aubergines - plus some lovely dark fresh cherry fruit. Palate is light, bright, fresh but starting to show a touch of cherry liqueur. Very high-toned piano notes ....but followed by massive heady cherry-toned 'lightness but weight'. This is a wine that polarises opinions but ....not having drank it for a couple of years... I'm now more convinced than ever that it needs another 10+ years to show its true colours. The last glass, 7 hours from opening, was by far the best. 91+ with lots of headroom.

The nose is powerful but not intense, nice black bramble fruits and a little fried bacon note. Big and powerful, packed with blackcurrant and blueberry fruits and dark chocolate. Holds the 15.5% alcohol well - it feels nicely balanced (although it is undoubtedly a big wine). The tannins are well integrated, there’s the finest touch of grip left, a little bit of asian spice and the bacon fat character lingers on the back of the palate. Lovely stuff.

Light to medium yellow. Full malo with 25% new French oak, aged for 18 mos in barrel and bottled more recently than the 2014 Sonoma Coast I also tasted. Seems less toasty and quite tightly wound. Very interesting layers of tropical fruits along with the citrus and a creamy texture. A richer mouth feel yet still very bright and age worthy. Should age nicely and gain complexity and depth with more time in bottle.

92-93. Really great. Rich, complex, mineral. Some citrus on the end. Heading toward mandarin. Definitely skin contact.

(This was the white, not the red. I added it in error. Thanks for pointing out)
