Plum Market Luxury Tasting (Bad Hunter - Chicago IL): Walk around tasting. Current release. Good richness, just oddly came across as slightly sweeter than I can ever recall for this wine. Still certainly good.

Blood, inky red. Bold nose that went from fresh red fruits to eucalyptus and moist earth. This positively exploded on the palate. Raspberries and blackberries with a hint of milk chocolate and some smoky wood. The finish was endless, morphing from plums and currants to red, sweet cherries. The fruit is still fresh and beautiful, and somehow light and delicate. Patience has clearly paid. Reading the prior reviews leads me to only one conclusion -- this wine needed every bit of this age.

6/14/18, 6:53 PM - It's clear that some others didn't have the same luck I had with this wine's age. This bottle seemed like it could have literally handled another 10 years, it was so youthful in character, and yet it excited the complexity and integration of a well aged bottle. I'd say you should have no problem waiting another year. And this was not a delicately pampered bottle before it got to me:. I originally bought it from Costco.

A bit of bricking to pretty translucent red with a touch of orange. Initial nose of sandalwood, moist earth, shitake mushrooms. Moist earth and forest floor to start, which gives way to some plum, mushroom, cedar, tobacco. As others have said, a great mouthfeel - velvety and lush. This is a great wine.
