Redemption, but wine starts to deteriorate after 45 minutes. Not corked and not overtly tannic and drying. Decent acidity, fruit and secondary notes on the nose & palate. Last bottle of 4 and happy it was solid after 2 bad bottles.

Double decanted, rebottled and then left in decanter for 2 hours. This is a deep, pure, rich, powerful, clean and balance wine. Way, way too young. Still. But not completely shut down. Huge fruit, but so pure and balanced. Black and blue fruit. Ashphalt, smoke, pencil, & earth. Balanced though with good acidity. Needs 10 more years but awesome to try now.

I can’t believe I bought this for $86! Really tight upon opening. Not much going on. Double decanted and let sit in the bottle for 5 hours. Deep black fruit, earth, asphalt &spice. Great entry, mid palate and finish. Tannin is still there but very smooth. Great acid backbone to keep freshness. Great wine. Needs more time.

This is a very dense/tight wine. Deep black fruit, spice, floral, wood profile. There is acidity but the wine is not balanced. Astringent finish. Can’t figure it out. This profile is not what I want in an Oregon wine. Too much extraction. Trying to be a CA Pinot when it shouldn’t.

Well made wine as expected but past it’s prime. Extracted fruit and heat. Somewhat disjointed and flabby. Huge, complex nose and palate. Need to drink these earlier.

After the 06 Pig, this was disappointing. Lacking mid palate depth and overall layers of complexity. Past it’s prime....more one dementional. Stewed fruit character.

Very dry tannins. Not much in nose. Stewed fruit. At first I thought corked. Better with air time. Will decant next time.

Hmmmm...bottle 2 consumed several days later. Excited to open this after prior bottle but was very disappointed. Backward, stewed, heavy and disjointed.

This bottle was great in every way, but most importantly it was in wonderful balance. Still plenty of time left. It reneeed my interest in CdP.

Agree with last post. Past its prime. Leaves a flat non-vibrant palate. Still a ton of fruit but not exciting. Hate waiting too long.

A fine, well balance wine that needs an hour of air to come into its own. Silky red fruit with some spice and rocks. Not overly complex and multi layered but very pleasing to drink.

The warmth of the vintage shows through with grippy, dry tannins and astringent tart red fruit. Toasty oak and spice are still present. This was a PNP so I wonder if a decant softens the edges. A lot of structure here

45-60 minutes after opening, this has deteriorated quickly. Disjointed, unbalanced, acid has taken over....tart, tannic, flat, too much oak, etc. rating is more like 84-85

My least favorite Cayuse wine but this was quite good. For an off vintage, this was lighter in color with more feminine notes.

There is some sweet dark fruit left but not much. Mostly earth and muted tones. Not very interesting or pleasurable to drink. Will be drinking my remaining 2 bottles soon.

I stopped buying Aubert Pinots, but his wine made me rethink that decision. Big, powerful wine with layers and layers of fruit and secondary notes. Bautiful wine to drink. Definitely not from Burgundy, my preference, but a gorgeous wine.

I've had this wine 3 times in the past 10 years and this is the only off experience. Stewed/cooked fruit, disjointed, prickly tannin, alcohol prominent and strong wood and vanilla components. Nose reminded me of a medicinal cherry ludens cough drop. Not a good experience unfortunately.

Finding that these wines are past their prime at 8-10 years. Going to begin drinking them in the 4-7 year range.

Not good. No body or weight to it. Nothing on the nose or palate. I know it was an off vintage but the '11 Basalt bottling was significantly better. Purchased at the winery and shipped to home. Disappointing.

I'm not a huge fan of Cayuse's blends (don't get me wrong, they are good and I buy them all, but the Syrah is my love), but this was VERY impressive. Huge nose and palate. Great weight, balance and finesse. Well worth it!

I've had 3 other bottles of this and I would have scored all 86-88. This otter is beautiful. Great red fruit, forest floor and spice on the nose and palate. There is great balance and vibrancy on the palate with a great medium to full bodied front, middle and 20-30 second finish. Wish all bottles were like this one.

Unlike the 2007 which was amazing almost immediately upon release, the '12 was very primary & one dimensional. Bottle was sourced direct from the winery & brought to the restaurant with about an hour decant. It was very smooth with lush fruit, but that was pretty much it. This followed an '11 & '08 red Burgundy & an '05 Nickel & Nickel. Hoping it develops secondary characteristics in time....very well made though as you would expect.

Hmmm....I'm not a rose expert, but this reminded me of drinking water with a very lightly infused and thin flavor. I kept swirling and not much of anything on the nose. Taste after taste left me wondering where the wine personality was. Maybe my expectation was set too high as this was my 1st ER from Cayuse given my years of experience drinking every other Cayuse wine made. Very light pink color which I liked. Hope my other 2 bottles are better.

This wine is not very enjoyable. Harsh, hot tannins make it a bear to drink. Flavor profile is ok, but seems over extracted with little if no freshness, vitality or balance. Very disappointing! The nose is decent and probably the highlight.

The Camaspelo is probably my 2nd least favorite offering from Cayuse (GOK is #1 so far), but these have been growing on me with recent vintages. The '10 is excellent, really impressed. Great, pure, clean fruit....very new world. I suspect that additional layers will develop in time....very primary now.

Not a big Viognier drinker so discount this as you see fit. Not as thick as others I've tasted, but has nice weight and body. Clean river bed stone streak with white peach and flower petals. Has a somewhat pretty profile, but still has structure and length. Some heat going on which throws me, but not offensive. Nice effort.

Hate to do this, but this wine was somewhat painful to drink over 2 days. Unbalanced, alcoholic and oaky. Big fruit with some nice nuance and flavors, but overall not very enjoyable. I was at a loss and almost poured it out save the $80 price tag guilt thinking it would improve. Have 2 left and hope this was an off bottle.

All I can say is hmmm on this one.....nothing like any other frog I've tasted. This was my 1st '09' and I've had all back to the '04. Nothing on the nose upon opening and even after an hour decant or with the addition of food (bone in strip), this was still not what I have grown accustomed to, especially on the nose from Frog. Very restrained, slight and muted. There is fruit in there, but it was sleeping too. I was lost without the quintessential cayuse nose that I love so much. Still a very well made wine and interesting. Maybe I was off my game tonight....it's possible.

A wine that is very light on its feet.....color is light ruby red, translucent, almost burgundy like. Nose is slightly muted by Cayuse standards. Palate is ever changing...starts out big and bold, but fades with time and becomes somewhat astringent. Dark plum, charred oak, spice, some greenness, and a hint of new world cab. Will save remaining half for tomorrow.
