This thing was singing like a witness that flipped to the prosecution. Just outstanding.

No rating. Was enjoyable but didn't give it nearly enough time.

Not what I was expecting. Totally drinkable, but a little hot and lacked the nuance and complexity I'd expect from a wine in this range. Maybe it's just in a weird phase.

This is probably my favorite Loxton wine, and I’ve liked a lot of them. Fabulous juice that Chris has treated with serious expertise. Red fruit, some earthiness, moss, and an herbal note stand out. Long finish, great balance, smooth tannins, and really nice acidity make for a great drink now with plenty of room to run. At this price, I can’t think of a better California cab.

This continues to be far and away my favorite Bedrock white wine. Beautiful acidity, a radiant nose, and a bouquet of citrus notes on the palatte. Great now. Will keep getting better.

Score from second night.

On the first night,it was quite good but somewhat disjointed and even a little hot. On night two, it had come together and was singing like a canary. An absolute delight to drink.

Really pleasant with racy and lingering acidity, some fruit, and a nice kick of minerality. Would definitely buy again for the price.

Either my first bottle of this was flawed or another year in the bottle made a world of difference. I'm guessing it's the former.

Racy acidity balanced against red-fruit dominance. Lots of raspberry, pomegranate, and some pepper and possibly a hint of something like eucalyptus. Long, acidic finish.

This wine is singing after about 45 minutes in the decanter. Love this.

Okay, this is more like it. Balanced, borderline austere, pure, and simply enjoyable. I believe this wine is at or near its peak. Would definitely buy (and drink) more.

Flawed bottle, sadly. Nose was kind of a dull tawny port. Opened a second bottle, which confirmed the flawed first bottle.

Fabulous. Even better on night two, as some of the components harmonized a bit. Lots of meaty and olive notes, along with some complementary red fruit.

No rating at the moment. Very good wine, but extremely primary. Can't wait to try again in a few years or more.

This was my first Riverain wine. It won't be my last. Drank a small glass on night 1 and the rest on night 2. Observations are from night 2. Drank without food.

Something about this wine just spoke to me. It was bursting with subtlety, if that makes any sense. Lots of layers here, all working well together with no element trampling on the others, and a long finish. Just an absolute joy to drink.

Pop, splash decant, and pour. Drank over about 3 hours.

Frankly, this was disappointing given the price point. The nose was actually quite nice, but the palette did not match. Short on finish, mouthfeel, and complexity.

Not a bad wine, and I'd drink it if someone gave it to me. But I won't be a buyer again.

Nice wine. A little high-toned on pop and pour, but mellowed out and showed some nice Syrah 'funk' on night 2.

Nothing formal--just an excellent wine, with integrated tannins and acid. Red fruit profile over an earthy, gravelly body. Drink now or over the next few years.

Decanted for two hours or so (not enough time); have been drinking it slowly over the next 2+ hours, with a glass or so left to go.

Deep purple color (but not inky) almost to the edge. Nose of graphite, blackberry, and some kind of spice--maybe five-spice. Black fruit dominant on the palate with a long (30 seconds +) finish. Grippy tannins.

This is excellent now but will be even better for many years to come.

Loved this. My dad pulled this out when I was in the other room putting my kid to sleep. I wouldn't have opened it yet, but c'est la vie.

Wonderful nose of spice, cinnamon, and blue fruit. Has the blue fruit palate to match. Tannic on opening, but everything integrated well with some airtime. Long, lingering finish. This drinks very well now but has 10 years to run easily.

On night 1, this was disjointed. (Admittedly, I popped and poured, which I knew would not be optimal, but it was late and I wanted to try it.) Corked it and drank the rest on night 2. It's delicious, with room to grow.

Give it some serious air time or hold on to it. Glad I've got a stash of these.

Pop and pour. Drank half the bottle over about 3 hours (was not really in any rush). It took about 90 minutes to really come together, and boy did it. As good on day two.

Long finish, soft mouthfeel, and loads of blue fruit. Very enjoyable and will get significantly better in my opinon.

Just beautiful. Nose consists of rose petal, graphite, and spice. Velvety mouthfeel, long finish. Decanted, with first consumption at about 2 hours. Tannins have receded, such that there is very little tannic edge after about 5 hours in the decanter.

Drink now with a lengthy decant or hold for 10 years or more.

No formal notes. Just really, really good stuff. Slow ox for about two hours then consumed over another two. It was probably at its best during hour three or so.

No formal notes. A delicious syrah with wonderful notes of olive and brine and a long, delightful finish. Enjoyed this immensely. Probably my favorite Loxton (and all have been good or better) to date.

Wow, this is just phenomenal stuff. I wanted to open a nice cab to drink on a Saturday night, and I thought I'd get into my Becklyn stash,

Slow ox for 30 minutes followed by an hour decant and drank over the following 4 hours-plus. This really hit its stride in hour 4. Notes, for what they're worth (not much) reflect the wine towards the end of the evening.

Lots of spice on the nose. Also some rose petal and herbal hints. If "deep purple" has a smell, there's some of that on the nose too. I wouldn't call the nose explosive, but it is prominent in a very good way. On the palate, it seems to be closer to Mike Smith's Scarlett than his Myraid Napa Valley. The palate matches the nose and adds in graphite and dark blue fruit. The finish goes on and on. And on.

This is a delight and drinks very well now. This has a long way to go before reaching its peak. But if you have a few and want to test it now, you will not be disappointed. This could easily touch 97 points in 5-7 years.
