Tasting a bit flabby - with weak nose. Finish has a tinge of sour apple. Disappointed. Next bottle was much more pleasant.

Tasted at restaurant. Drinking very well right now despite youth. Lots of medium dark red fruit/cherry. Very enjoyable.

This is simply delicious. A wonderful grenache with lots of light red fruits. Huge flavor - but elegant at the same and without any cloying density. Was surprised at the 15.7%, you don't taste the heat at all...

PnP. This is tasting lovely right now. Lights of fresh medium red fruit (cherry) a bit of anise. Very smooth and balanced. The 15.4 ABV was surprising - did not notice any heat. Sad it's my last bottle.

Pop and pour: dark and brooding savory notes on the nose; lots of intensity on the palate, some heat, but not unpleasant, dark fruits, cherry with maybe a hint of anise on this finish. Again, a big classic Epoch and very enjoyable now, but could definitely hold off to see how this changes.

Tried this wine as an experiment whether drinking young rosso might compare favorably to brunello. Pnp - wine was very restrained and almost too acidic, even after trying to aerate a few times in desperation. I was very disappointed. Left half the bottle for 24 hours, and what a difference that made. This wine was lovely, lightweight but had delicious medium red fruits showing. Very much improved. Lesson learned. Rosso can be quite good - but this young, need to wait a bit after opening.

Tasted at the winery after being opened for 24 hours. This wine really packed a punch and was the wine of the Paso trip. Lots of dark red fruit with a lasting finish.

Did a blind tasting with about 7 other Napa cabs around this price point, and this was by far the favorite for the entire crowd. Ended up serving it at my wedding - and people even a year later were raving to me about the wine.

cola and anise and dark fruit. Dark and sumptuous. Really need to decant this and let it air for at least an hour so it can settle out, as initially it had a bit of effervescence which was distracting. Great wine once it had settled out.

Plum, red fruits, big. I would definitely let this hold for awhile before opening another. It was quite nice though even now.

This needs more time hopefully. I tasted it at the tasting room (first winery of the day) and it was lovely. At home, the wine had a bit of effervescence still and thick texture and had significant heat. Seemed to get better after opening for awhile. I'm going to let this cellar for a bit and see if it improves with a bit of age - it's very young right now.

Good wine with pizza - but it did not wow me. still very nice though. Lots of fruit as is typical for a herman story wine, but not as much depth as a lot of his other wine.

Drank for Thanksgiving dinner. Wow. This is drinking especially great right now. Notes of earthiness and mushroom, full of complex flavor and lingering finish. I thought it was my last bottle and was happy to see I have one more left. Will save for a special occasion.

I've now tried a few bottles of this, and I'm just not impressed. The finish is short, and overall just did not seem to me to be anything special. I am surprised at the WS score it received.

I thought this wine was a bit of an underachiever given the reviews, but will cellar my remaining bottles to see if it gets better. Certainly an enjoyable wine, but not a show stopper at the moment.
