This reminds me of a Beekeeper Zin, but a hotter / more aggressive version. The thing I get on some of these higher end, concentrated Zins , like Paradigm as well, is a fruit punch thing on the nose. Candied red fruits and some fruit punch , although this one you definitely also clearly get some alcohol on the nose, and then some on the palate, it is to be expected with both the high alc content and youth of this wine. It’s manageable, and I would expect this to get better in the next few years and then some. 90+ depending on your preference.

This is an excellent wine for the price. Burgundian in style, nice pop on the nose after it opens up. Medium -full body for a Pinot but very much in balance. Rhubarb and cherry on the nose. Little alcohol but not offensive. Good value.

Ideal Pinot noir characters. Light and clear medium ruby color, very pungent and fruity on the nose, some wood, in a good way. Quite concentrated flavors but balanced. Very nice.

A Solid, big, high alcohol and savory wine. Takes an hour or so to get the aromas really going but it’s rich, spicy, sandlewoody on the nose, classic fruity Napa cab on the palate. Fairly long finish. Tasty. 90+ depending on your preferences.

Really nice and delicate but still supple on the palate, the aromatics are showing nice fruit but with some spice, little clove and fresh brush thing. It’s really got a lot going on while balanced , and lighter and not destroying your palate. Great wine and QPR!

Rich, dark purple , big but manageable with some air. Has the typical durif qualities , nice aromatics showing blue and black fruit. Clearly good pedigree from the Shafer crew. Picked up several bottles for $35 which is a great value. Enjoy

Same notes as my prior note, but i have to say, it is not a great QPR and not the best Syrah I have had. Aromatically, it is nice and very unique. I Much prefer an Alban after some oxidation.
Might give this more like a 90-92 this time around, there is a little bitterness/ hard edge to it.

To me this an older world expression, light on its feet , nice aromatics, but no real major oak influence , super clean finish. Solid wine but not the best QPR for Cali chard.

Nutmeg, candle wax, and dark berry motor oil in the glass. Clove - lots of clove on the nose, Quite delicious and unique.

Almost having buyer's (drinker's) remorse popping this guy, I was thinking to not let it go past it's peak. Boy, was I wrong, at 10 years this baby is simply delicious and very similar, but slightly smoother, than some of her younger siblings. Glad I have the 2014-16 vintages marinading and looking to add more. Paradigm never disappoints.

Mtolerico note below mirrors my experience.....I recently drank this bottle and have the same experience. I like it , but as the wine comes to more room temp, the alcohol becomes more evident. Comes off a little cocktail-ish. Needs a little time, perhaps.

This has an extraordinary nose, so much like a left bank or Margaux, it is quite giving and floral. Still rich on the palate and a nice finish. Oddly this is a high quality Napa Merlot , but reminds me more of a left bank vs right. In a great place right now.

This is really a fantastic wine, and quite a good value in the $35-40 range. The aromas became more complex as it opened, even giving off tar and forest floor and some really enticing spice and herbal notes. All while showing nice classic pinot noir characteristics.

Overly ripe, super disappointing. Too much oak and trying to make a grenache something it is not.

I need more of this, period. Quintessential Cabernet on the nose. Textbook perfection of sweetness and pencil shavings and cassis. Medium yet rich texture, pretty full palate but light in its feet , with a solid finish. 95-96 now with upside

Day 1 pop and pour, nice classic Margaux aromatics, somewhat sweet and ripe, bordeaux truffles, quite classic Margaux nose. Drying tannins but plenty of ripe fruit and a nice pretty long finish. Vacuum sealed 2nd half.

Day 3 (skipped day 2) and this wine seems unchanged. Tannins slighlty resolved but the nose is almost the same. Drinking slightly smoother now, but makes me believe this wine has some improvement and a long life ahead.

Usually to my palate wines decline by the 2nd or 3rd day so this is a very good indicator for the future of this wine by my account. 92+

Simply delicious... IMHO, a good value considering neighboring prices.

This wine is dark and deep, very ripe, fairly extracted. I was expecting something a little more balanced, in fact while getting dark plum, coffee, shoe leather, I kept experiencing a mildly off alcoholic scent. Not sure if a slightly off bottle, but based on the other reviews I had high expectations that were not met.
It was good, but definitely thought the 2016 Virginie Valandraud we also had open was showing much better.

Following up.....open the bottle, This was my first Seavey experience, while very good, not exactly what I expected. Very rich and new world, extracted, but not cloying , but definitely reminded me more of a Hall than any other wine maker in Napa that I have experienced.
That said, after some time open (2-3 hours) the aromas filled in and some good underlying cassis and cabernet notes. Very ripe and plums , long finish. I liked this more on it's own, versus when I was tasting it out of the coravin last week up against a virginie valandraud (which the aromas of that wine destroyed this seavey). QPR not so good, but still a very nice rich and full cabernet sauvignon. I look forward to trying one of the Seavey Merlots...

Jeff's tasting note is on-point, as usual.

Fresh and clearly bordeaux on the nose, but is stuffed with dark red and blue fruit, a solid backbone with classic cassis notes, some new world influence for sure. But Best of both worlds. 14.5% alc., punching in way above its price-point.

I'm not a connoisseur of white wine but I can tell the difference between trash and good juice, and this is good juice. It's reminiscent of the kistler that I very much enjoyed recently that rings in about twice the price. Lots of pleasant stone fruits and delicious juiciness with some mild caramel or butter type notes. concentrated and not too light, but the alcohol for being 14.9% is huge for a chardonnay but is not all too present, so fairly balance IMO. pretty good deal if one can acquire this somewhere in the $35-40 range, compared to some of these pricier chardonnay peers.

Day 1...couple hours after opening, 2nd glass. Classic cool climate pinot noir on the nose, a little slow to emerge but the aromatics are pretty standard pinot. Darker profile on the glass versus some of the oregon or santa rita pinots i've recently enjoyed. Decent weight mid palate, red fruits, mildly sweet, medium to short finish. 13.5% alcohol. Pretty fair at QPR $20 or under, solid entry level pinot.
Day 2. Air vac overnight, More of the same from day 1. a slight alcohol on the scent on the back end. fairly dry on the finish on palate and fruit lingers, still very serviceable and a good QPR/entry level PN. A safe bet for a big party. 88-90

Was concerned based on some other comments, but still solid and serviceable.

Meaty, plummy, and slight funk on the nose, I could be fooled there could be some Syrah in here. But it’s new world , rich , dark in style , good acid and fair balance. Hall typical 15% alc. but not too much heat after it opens up... now the aromatics getting sweeter and better.

90+

Solid, right down the fairway Oregon pinot noir, with good aromatics, nice color, the nose got better after being open an hour or so, and nice varietally correct taste with good concetration that lingered on my gums. fair QPR around $30. Good to go now, but probably would last in a cellar for some time.

I think this wine is Peaking. It's really tasty right now, BLABBOT's tasting note here is on-point. So much so that I'm now a fan of his.

IF you have some of this in your cellar, start popping the corks. I'm sure it will still be good a few years down the road, but not sure how long. And it's so good now, so no reason to wait unless you have several bottles then drink some now and later.

Reminds me of Silver oak in some ways, balanced , ripeness but not overly ripe or extracted, sweet, lots of vanilla, surely it got a lot of new French oak. A fair value especially if you can get it at a discount. Good QPR.
(my measure of good QPR here is around $35-40/bottle)

Definitely getting some of that bacon fat, burnt funky nose. Slowly fades and red fruit emerges but that distinct style stays through the finish. More fruit and nuance on the nose, as the wine comes to room temperature.

Im enjoying it, not totally my cup of tea , but from trying to give an objective score... its pretty , it smells great, tastes great with a persistent finish but balanced while concentrated. Great wine. Tough QPR unless you get at discount , like auction.

Simply amazing, just like its lil 2012 brother, huge whiffs of crushed stones, berries and plums and “crushed rubies” as my wife would say. Just fantastic on the nose, quite an example of cab franc andquite similar to 2012 despite its more integrated and softening of tannin on the palate. Clearly the same wine , but an older vintage. Well done, Ren Marilyn & Heidi!

Dark purple, milky and frothy looking on pour. Smells good, very ripe, sweet and plummy. Smells good. Savory on the palate, typical rich New-world Hall prototypical but non-descript palate. Reminds me of the 2015 hall napa valley house wine. Tastes good. Ready now or will be fine for a few years. Mickle pickles’ note whom I respect, got me worried these are on decline. He may be right in that its an average hall wine, but its still plenty good the bottle i got. 90-92

Poured into a decanter and Spent some time with this one, all by itself for a few hours. The nose is incredible, all kinds of notes highlighted by some strong blueberry and cassis notes. The palate carries some of the notes, isn't thin per say, but falls a little short IMO to be elite. A very good wine overall but , I've got this more in the 90-94 range depending on your palate, versus a wine garnering 95 or over.

Not sure if this is fading already. Noticed more stewed plum , maybe lacking some freshness on the palate. Not bad but could it already be on the decline? Perhaps bottle variation but I remember this being a lot better previously. Probably time to drink these.

Alright, this is very good, but personally I do not feel this has the richness or depth that you see in the la mondotte or Valandraud, by way of comparison. Very good but more in the 90-92 range , not mid-high 90s. Not the best QPR. Will let my other several rest for at least 3-5.

92+ easy. Loads of oak treatment, you get the vanilla and toasty oak right off the bat. Some might not like this, but I love it. I think I read 26 months in 100% new french oak. The fruit is very nice and concentrated and classic cabernet, but this is Not overly extracted or ripe, this has a very nice balance and freshness to it. I am Stoked I have more of this....Excellent wine with upside and lots of life.

This is a fair representation of central coast grenache. Light, soft mouthfeel, somewhat muted but nice nose, flavors of cherry and candy apple, some spice, not a ton of tannin and medium-short finish, but smooth and pleasant. The 15.5% alc was not all that noticeable, to me.
