2010 Tronquoy de Sainte-Anne St. Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend
Quite sweet and fruity, but with a funky cooked aftertaste that makes me suspect this wine is past its prime. It is distinctly New World in character, with a candied, "twizzlers"-like quality like that doesn't resemble a typical left-bank Bordeaux.

It's not a bad value for $17, but there are many Crus Bourgeois in this price range that offer more balance and Bordeaux character.

2005 Château Vignot St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend
Not sure why this has low ratings on CT. This is a spectacular showing of St. Emilion. Multi-dimensional dryness on the bright front end, the meaty middle, and the sexy integrated tannic finish. This is a gorgeous wine and it is drinking wonderfully right now. Will likely improve over the next 5 years as well, becoming more rounded and complete.

Char Siu pork, lavender, stewed cherries, Roobios tea, sun-drenched earth and leather. Exceptionally long and a solid flow of radiant fruit prevails. A terroir-driven, Central-California Syrah with so much personality and distinction. Enchanting layers of microfiber tannins and thru the meridians of fruit, there is a definite balance and acidity. She is absolutely addicting. This deserves to be in the pantheon. Drink 2019 - 2034.

Same tasting note as before but this time pumped half the bottle at let it sit overnight. Really smoothed the edges out and exposed layers upon layers of complexity. Coloration changes to jet black but retains its elegance and freshness. I always like the Nickel cabs but this one is on another level.

Big bold and robust
The wine looks inky colored. There is no sediment in the bottle. The body is full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long.

2004 Viñedos y Bodegas Pablo Cariñena Gran Viu Finca Santiaga Grenache Blend, Grenache
This wine is Garnache, Carinena and Vidadillo. I think some important things to know are that it was aged for 36 months in a mix of new and used French oak. That's some serious brew time in wood barrels!! Now before I drank this I let it decant in my Riedel Apple decanter for an hour. Then I poured a glass in a Vinum XL Cabernet glass. The nose is incredible and taste matches quite well with the nose. I'll just say read all reviews with a grain of salt. Every person's palette is different but for mine this wine was and is downright fine. As to the cork question that people have raised, I don't care. If the wine was spoiled I guess I would but I trust that this wine is 12 years old and it's drinking might fine! Try it out. Judge for yourself.

After reading reviews I had low expectations for this wine. Not sure why the criticism because this wine drank exceptionally well. Big fruity notes and velvety smooth finish. Lush, rich and complex. Excited to see how this ages.

A Pinot Noir and Cantonese seafood dinner at Chuen Kee in Sai Kung, Hong Kong. The last of three Pinot Noirs. Significantly more powerful than the Kistler. Not much more to add to the last note: "Powerful and intense. Dark cherries on the nose. Huge structure, medium tannins, long and silkily finish. Sipped nicely after 3+ hours breathing in the bottle. Blueberries, blackberries and cherries! Silky and elegant finish. Will lay down for many a year. Pleased as punch to have quite a few bottles in the cellar. Very simply a stunning wine! She hits the floor like the gal in Flashdance, pirouettes gracefully mid-palate and finishes elegantly to the London Symphony Orchestra...a phenomenal performance!" We did get some nice chocolate and coffee notes in this bottle...yummy!
