A little confused on this. Had a bottle yesterday and had signifigant dark fruit and oak. Not the impression I got when I tasted it at the winery. Had another bottle tonight and nose of red fruit and spice nice cherry midpalate. Push of acid and firm tannin. This is why I bought it.

Black cherry and cedar on the nose. Silky mouthfeel with primarily dark fruits and strawberry. A little heavy on the oak. Finishes long. Went great with pot roast, root vegetables and bacon gravy.

dark in the glass, nose saomewhat closed but had a little red fruit and stone. nice grippy tannin and cherry with a load of stoney minerality. after about an hour the fruit subsided somewhat and what was left was earth and minerals. Still fantastic but really like the red fruit early on. medium finish.

looks thick and opaque in the glass. nose launched out of the glass with bright red fruits and a tad musty. this wine was all about mouthfeel. still had loads of tannin as it dried my mouth out considerably. some sour cherry and chocolate on the palate but the viscosity was silky and fantastic and finish was long. i thought the flavor profile began to deteriorate after about 2 hours.

Dark red in color, slight bricking. Some dark fruit, menthol, and game on the nose. Smells a little dirty as well. I tasted some dark fruit but mainly a lot of herbs and something medicinal, a little phenol like. Not sure what to make of this but I'll let it air for a couple hours and revisit. Did show much better with roast chicken. Took the advice of previous notes that this one is past due. I agree.

Dark and purple in glass. Nose of red fruits and wood. On its own a little thin through the midpalate with bright cherry and cranberry and lingering vanilla. Medium Finish. Pretty good food wine. Paired nicely with roast chicken.

This now has really come around beautiful cherry and cedar on the nose. Voluptous and silky on the palate throughout. Tannin structure carries well. A lesson learned here from opening my previous bottles premature and tasting the evolution. This is drinking nicely.

Nose ws amazing. floral and sweet cedar. On the palate, it initially came across as a much younger cabernet. Still has loads of fruit, then the silky and incredibly well integrated tannins carried this wine for at least a minute. I was still tasting this hours after dinner. Never could have picked this for 15 years old. Rich, creamy, silky goodness.

Incredible nose. Initial attack was fantastic as well and then fell apart mid palate. Came together again on the finish and lingered for awhile. I think this still needs some time. After about 3 hours it was coming together.

This is continuing to evolve and get better. Perfumed nose, juicy red fruits, medium bodied merlot. Hint of oak and well balanced. Better than bottlesI've had earlier in the year. Still a bad QPR.

Huge port-like nose. Dense red and black fruit compote but not jammy with hint of spice and seems to still have balance. Long finish. This will be very interesting to see how this evolves. It clearly has evolved already as someone described it as "tight" in May 08.

Very fragrant. This has evolved since I tasted it at a local wine store tasting with the winemaker a few months ago. Citrus, melon, stone, and a nice minerality. A great rush of acid makes this balance out beautifully.

Deep purple color, nose is closed but hints of earth. After an hour or so I still don't get much out of this wine. Not much fruit to speak of. I just get dust and alcohol. Nothing in balance. I thought Beckstoffer grapes were the bees knees. Pass on this.

Cherry, Raspberry, and chocolate on the nose maybe a hint of coffee and herb. Fruit forward on the palate and some oak, moderate length finish. I am becoming less and less a fan of the Nickel and Nickel label. Although this is an ok Merlot, the QPR is horrible. I feel like a gullible fool for buying so much of it.

I asked for a wine in this style and that is what I got. Gasoline and earth on the nose. Vegetal, hints of barnyard on the palate. Pungent through the mid palate and bone dry. Interesting to get out of fruit and oak for a change but I'm glad I have help getting through this bottle. I'm sure there is a better effort out there.

Hour 2: Starting to smell and taste hints of coffee and chocolate. Settling down a bit. Maybe score this an 86.

dusty dark fruit on the nose, tannins seems a little out of balance at this point. Wood and ripe fruit ramp up hard mid palate, which I like. Quite a bit of dry heat on the finish. Overall, I enjoyed this. Had it with a quick Coq Au Vin and it really brought out the earthiness. Will surely improve in the coming years.
