Bright crimson colour. Medium body, heavier then I was expecting. Savoury, plum, cherry. Fine and structured tannin. Acidity is a bit sour blends in well with the wine. Not what I am used to though. Not my favourite wine but a good example of the variety.

Medium Black cherry colour. Aroma of resin, undergrowth, licorice, sawdust. Black Peppery, mocha, blackberry, dark chocolate. Smooth chocolate tannin, balanced fresh acidity.
The wine is still fresh and lively, full of different segments coming together. Not at its prime yet but I’m not confident it will stay at its peak for long, so may be best to drink now.

Quite deep and dark crimson. Aroma of light spice, white pepper, mushroom, some oak. Surprisingly for a 1yr old blend it requires some decanting. Medium to light body, acidity is perfectly balanced, light fine tannin. Black and red berries, black dominating but a line of cherry and raspberry running down the middle of the wine. Milk chocolate, walnuts, some cloves, light pepper finish. It grows on you after some breathing time, seems to develop more complexity and while becoming smoother and more balanced. Can’t complain for $20.

Impenetrable black in colour with a very thin almost clear hue. Aroma of spice, shrubbery, tobacco, coffee, fresh leather. Taste of plum, blackberry, blueberry, butterscotch to finish. Smooth beginning and middle after some extended decanting, Some capsicum or asparagus at the end, not quite eucalyptus. Full body, tannins providing goods stricture but so fine to be almost unnoticeable. Well balanced acidity. Still fresh, full of fruit, but will be smoother in another year or two, nearly there.

Dark cherry colour. Aroma of tobacco, grilled meat, pencil shavings, pepper and dark berries. Sweet plum, blackberry and blackcurrant. Licorce and spice to finish. Fine and grippy tannin, still a bit harsh, indicating either a bit more patience in airing the wine or another couple of years cellaring. Full bodied and well balanced acidity. Nice wine, good aroma and fruit but a bit harsh with the tannin. Should hopefully improve with time.

Dull yellow colour. Aroma of mineral, citrus and kerosene. I would have to say kerosene is also evident in the flavour, I’m sure there is another word for it, but it is so evident, strong, sharp and volatile. Not an enjoyable wine for me, not at this stage anyway I certainly enjoyed it better last year. I hope it is just a phase it is going through. It is my last bottle though.

Deep dark crimson black, thin light purple hue. Aroma of forest, shrubs, oak and aniseed. Dark plum, blueberry, mocha, white pepper, licorce to finish. Requires a decent amount of time to breathe, quite sharp finish otherwise. Full bodied, fine tannin which provides structure but sits in the background. Balanced acidity. Still fresh, plenty of fruit, easy to drink. I suggest to will continue to improve in the next couple of years.

Very dark, dense crimson black, dark crimson hue. Dry aroma of sawdust, spice, grilled meat and varnish. Sweet plum, blackberry, some malt, finishes with olive, pepper and aniseed. Full of fruit, good level of fine tannin providing great structure, a little bit grippy but should smooth out in the next coupe of years. Fresh acidity. Great wine, by itself or with food. I bought some 375ml, which is the first small bottle I have bought and I think it is a great idea. Just right for one night.

Black red colour with a bright crimson hue. Light dry Aroma of straw, grilled meat, shrubbery and black berries. Very fine tannin coats the tongue almost immediately, not grippy in any way. Sweet berries; plum, blackberry, blueberry. Not heavy but i would still say full bodied. Smooth acidity and with every taste the tongue ends up with that light coating of tannin. I think it is still too young, another couple of years better blend in that persistent tannin, still a great wine though, the flavour and body is there and incredibly smooth.

Lovely golden colour, almost bright golden. Dry aroma with citrus and peach. Lemon, peach, pineapple, some green apple. Citrus at the front and finishes with a touch of sweetness. Light and easy to drink. I have been working my way through a dozen of the 11 vintage for a couple of years and this definitely the best bottle so far. Clearly needs to be drunk at the right time. Finally looking forward to the last 2 bottles.

Light golden colour, more yellow then green. Dry citrus aroma. Dry, lemon, grapefruit. Hasn’t mellowed at all and the lemon is quite strong. Some spritz earlier but it goes away after a while.

Definitely requires some breathing time. Aroma of pine needles, fresh sawdust and pepper. Cherry, plum, mulberry, aniseed. Nearly all cherry without some air. Young acidity, fine but puckery tannin. Not perfectly balanced. Too light and parodic for me, I prefer it much smoother and consistent.
Better on night 2. Not smooth but more body. Strong stemmy/tomato leaf flavour at the front.

Dark plum colour. Dry spicy aroma. Black currant, blueberry, sweet plum, pepper, some shrubs. Medium body (just), medium to long finish, very fine tannin, balanced acidity, maybe a bit flat. Smooth, pleasant and enjoyable. Picked up for $14 in their December members special, no complaints.

Dense black with a thin dirty brown hue. Aroma of cigar, old oak, forest floor, black berries. A funky smell that fades away with some decanting. Plum, blueberry, sweet berries. Full body, tannins are fine and fully integrated, smooth full flavours, just requires some time to breathe to get rid of the dusty aroma and smooth out the flavours.
Performing quite well for its age, would say it still has a few years left on it, but no need to wait.

Black ruby colour, quite dense. Aroma of rosemary, spice, cedar, dry oak. Plum, mulberry, sage. Sweet black fruit with a dry herby finish. Tannin is strong and dry in a good way. Medium to full body, fresh acidity. I am very pleasantly surprised with this wine, much improved from the 15 vintage.

Quite dark colour, black crimson. Strong aroma of sweet plum, caramel, white pepper, vanilla oak, strong spice. Light to medium body, fine light tannin. Plum, strawberry, blackcurrant. Nice spice with a good combination of fruit. Performed better on the second night, a bot more body and flavour. Quite an enjoyable wine, on the lighter side and probably doesn’t have a long life but I would try again.

Consistent black purple colour. Strong aroma of spice, pepper, cumin, pine, eucalyptus. Plum, blackberry, cranberry. Strong fine tannin, balanced acidity. Great wine, aroma is bursting forward, although the tannin is strong it is not overwhelming or grippy. Very long finish, full body. Requires some breathing time to start but great personality. I was worried I was opening it too early, but I am glad I did. Still clearly further development will occur in future years but it is great to enjoy the journey.

Black red colour with medium density. Sharp aroma, dry, pepper fresh berries. Overly acidic, unripe berries, green. Not overly pleasant. Fine medium tannin.
Improved on the second night, deeper colour, similar aroma but smoother black berries, reduced sourness, acidity less of an issue. Still not a great wine to me but certainly better than the first night. Requires a fair bit of decanting to fully appreciate, which I failed to do on night one.

Dense colour but not opaque, black cherry. Medium aroma of cedar, white pepper, spice, grilled meat. Taste of black fruit, stewed plum, blueberry, blackberry, aniseed and small amount of eucalyptus. Tannin is strong and evident, fine but not grippy. Lively acidity. Can probably do with more decanting than I have given it, given that I also believe it has several years ahead of it. Still fresh and lively, tannin is strong and supportive but will probably integrate more in the years to come. Not yet at its best.

Opaque black colour with light purple hue. Aroma of white pepper, cumin, oak shavings, sawdust, leaves. Blackberry, plum and blueberry flavour. Fine but gritty tannin, lively acidity. Lots of fruit, full body but the tannin gives it a dry finish. I think it is still too young, needs at least a couple more years, if not more. Still think it will become a great wine, but not quite yet.

Deep dense black colour with a thin purple hue. Aroma of pepper, spice, old oak, grilled meat. Full body, balanced acidity, tannin is fine and persistent. Beautiful mouthfeel. Plum, blackberrry, milk chocolate, blueberry. Wonderful wine, so smooth, fresh and full. Good balance between fruit and oak. I couldn’t imagine it improving much more, but should be fine for a couple of years yet.

Light crimson colour. Lightish aroma, pepper, oak and black berries. I expected a light flavour based on the colour but was pleasantly surprised. Cherry, mulberry, plum. Medium body, medium smooth tannin. Pepper and spice. Wonderful wine. High alcohol 15.5%, apart from coating the Glass it was not obvious. I have said it before but I am yet to have a bad wine from Peterson’s. I really look forward to them.

Smooth dark colour, light crimson hue. Aroma of pepper, smoke, dried spice, cloves. Sweet tobacco, plum, grilled meat. Medium body, tannin is subtle, providing an invisible base, balanced fresh acidity. Has some flavours which I have trouble picking, an interesting wine with good character. Definitively the best Thomas wines I have had.

Smooth black chocolate colour with a bright purple rim. Aroma of pepper, old oak, shrubs and blackcurrant. Full body, chocolaty tannin, balanced acidity. Plum, dark chocolate, blackberry. Smooth, sweet undertones, long finish. Fruit is a bit muted, but against a wonderful background of tannin and oak. Drinking well now, can certainly see it improving over the next few years. The Bluegrass Shiraz is having some good vintages, the 17 was fantastic.

Ink black in colour with a thin dark crimson hue. Aroma of spice, licorce, butterscotch (I don’t think I have seen this in red wine before), vanilla oak. Medium body, tannin is medium and powdery. Blueberry, raspberry, mulberry, milk chocolate. Not a classic Shiraz but interesting. Fruit is present but not strong, acidity is medium plus. Not the quality for the price. Happy to give it a couple of years to see if it improves.

Bright golden colour. Aroma of muted citrus, stone fruit, river rocks. Spritzy when first opened, disappeared the next day, made it hard to appreciate the flavour. Lemon, grapefruit, green apple, clean cut. High acidity, fresh flavour, chalky to finish.
An enjoyable drink, not perfect, but good.

Light crimson colour. On my first taste I asked myself why I bought it. It was light with a sour taste, but after some decanting it came alive. Medium body with good balance. Fresher fruity flavours, cherry, raspberry, plum, light pepper. Not sweet, well balanced acidity, minimal tannin. Overall a good wine, but it does require some time to breathe before drinking.

Almost black colour but with a purple tinge. Aroma of licorce and pepper, light oak. Strong Plum, blackberry, light spice. Tannin is powdering and persistent. Acidity is on the high side. Nice flavour but a bit astringent. Still has room for improvement, the tannin needs to settle down.

It has continued to improve over the last few years. My last bottle I believe, but thoroughly enjoyed them. Probably the best of the 11-13 vintages I have tasted. Would have given it a 95 but a bit on the sweet side.
Clearly Halliday got this one wrong with a 87. Although I don’t see what labelling and marketing have to do with the score, he mentions this in the note.

Medium body, short finish, prior to decanting the finish was halfway along the tongue. Improves dramatically after decanting, decent flavour and finish. Pleasant wine, I can imagine with would be a good wine in a good vintage.

Lovely golden yellow colour. Aroma of light oak, peach, melon and pineapple. Lemon, honey, light oak and buttered toast. Well integrated, medium body, balanced flavours. I don’t drink much Chardonnay but this was very enjoyable, not full bodied and a bit overpowering like I find some others. The oak improves the wine rather than taking over it. Clearly not a top class Chardonnay but probably the one I would prefer to drink. Picked it up for $9 at a half price member sale, so can’t complain about the price.

Great fruit flavours, a bit dry but I feel it can probably do with more breathing time than I am willing to give it on a Friday night after work. I think it can do with another few years at least. I would like to give it more points, especially based on the aroma but it is too dry.

Almost black in colour, aroma of cedar but fresh plums and black fruit dominate, a light sweet stewed aroma. Cherry stands out, plum, blueberry, some pleasant green capsicum. Rounded tannin underlies it all, strong but not too overpowering. Acidity is well balanced, making it fresh but still smooth. It has handled it age well, with still years ahead.
