Quite dark colour, almost a black purple. Medium aroma of spice, pepper, cedar, shrubs. Blackcurrant, blueberry, cumin, turmeric, greenery. Requires a decent time to breathe, a bit sharp initially, takes a while to smoothen out. I think it requires a few more years, just not quite right yet.

Black ruby colour. Light aroma of spice, oak and shrubbery. Blackberry, blueberry, dark chocolate, spice. I aerated the first glass and the finish was so short I could hardly taste it. Straight from the bottle with no breathing it has some more strength. One of those rare wines which don’t decant well. I find this in Cabernet occasionally but rarely in Shiraz. A bit disappointed.

Deep black purple. Strong aroma of sweet spice, bark, black berries and warming alcohol. Plum, blueberry, milk chocolate, nutmeg. Full body, persistent fine tannin. Fresh acidity. Really enjoyable wine, high alc like all Peterson wines but is used to improve the wine not take over it. Strong flavours, strong wine but fresh and fruity. My type of wine, but not for every night.

Purple crimson colour, dirty hue. Dry intense aroma, fragrant, full of fruit, less spice. Fantastic, dark fruit, plum, blueberry, blackcurrant. Persistent but subtle tannin, medium to full body, long smooth finish. In my opinion best value for money from the Tyrrell’s premium wines.

Black cherry colour. Light Aroma of fresh grass, pepper, asparagus, black berries. Blueberry, blackcurrant, stewed plums. Powdery tannin, fresh acidity. A full bodied lively wine, does require some extra decanting time, even after aeration it required another 30 min. Quite grippy when first tasted but smoothed out, first taste was 89 developed into the 94.

Deep dark purple with a thin light hue. Aroma of light pepper, old oak, sawdust. Mulberry, plum, dark chocolate, stewed rhubarb. Strong but fine even tannin. Lively acidity, medium body, long finish.
A fresh, fruity and lively wine, hard to think that it is 4 years old. Many years ahead, will probably do another 10 (which is good because I think I bought a dozen). I can only see it improving in a few years.

Dense purple colour. Aroma of light spice and black fruit. Raspberry, mulberry, cinnamon, sage, orange rind (strange but I am sure it is there), rose pedals. Fragrant, light spice, sweet fruit, but still quite heavy in body. Tannin is fine and well balanced after some aeration. Fresh acidity. An enjoyable wine. I think I like Petersons because I can always expect something individual. Certainly not bland. 15.6% alc, which is another thing to expect from Petersons, high alcohol. I am giving it a 94 but I am really tempted to go 95.

Impenetrable black ink. Aroma of pencil shavings, turmeric, dried oak. Dry tannin at front, plum, blackberry, blueberry. Olive to finish. Fine yet grippy tannin, full body but acidity a bit flat. Could do with a couple more years cellaring and perhaps some more breathing time before drinking. A nice wine but not quite the standard I was expecting.

Dark tawny colour with a dirty hue. Aroma of turmeric, dried leaves and plum pudding. Sweet plum, cheery, blackberry, smooth dark chocolate. Subtle spice, no pepper. Smooth fine tannin throughout. Balanced acidity after a small amount of airing. A 7 year old wine but actually performed better without going through the aerator, I have been told this is the case with some wine but rarely come across them. 14.5% alc, not noticeable. Wonderful wine, sweet fresh dark fruit, creamy chocolate. It has continued to improve but I won’t be waiting much longer, it is so nice now.

Dirty brick red colour. Aroma of cigar box, dry oak, a bit of barnyard, not overly pleasant. Bitter tannin, blackcurrant, Olive. Sharp acidity especially to finish. looks like it is at the end of its life. Drink now, not going to get any better.
Just looked at my previous notes, I gave it 95 7 month ago. It might be an unlucky bottle, I can’t understand why it would change so quickly.
