Good value easy drinking Bordeaux. Fully in agreement with Brussels1049. I doubt that I will keep my bottles long enough to find out if it’s age worthy or not.

Picked this up as an every day drinker. Tipped by Guide hachette with some competition gongs for what they are worth. A Malbec from Bordeaux AOP.

Deep garnet colour, nose a bit indistinct but some red and black fruit aromas. Very smooth in the mouth, lots of fruit initially followed by distinctive spicy notes. It is surprisingly light bodied. It’s already drinking well and good for a couple more years. Good value at EUR5,50.

Very classic, very enjoyable and fully mature. Will probably last a few more years yet.

Slightly translucent garnet colour. Indistinct aromas on the nose. Creamy mouth-feel with fin tannins balanced by a core of acidity. Sour cherries with hints of spice. Decent finish. Good value everyday drinking at EUR 11.

I was concerned that I might have left this too long but it was still drinking well. Dark sweet fruit with some complexity on the finish. My guess is that this bottle would have kept another couple of years but if you have some time to think about drinking up.

Opened an hour or so before drinking. Much better, flavours were more balanced. So possibly still a little young?

Just reaching its stride. A no nonsense cry bourgeois delivering good driving at a sensible price. This should go easily for another 5 years. Drank alongside a similarly aged Rioja and one of our party declared that the Ladouys was like a sophisticated urbanite compared to a swarthy farm hand for the Rioja - very different both both have their charms!

Good value from a well known producer. A typical Rhône white with a good balance between mouthfeel and fruit avoiding some of the bitterness that sometimes detracts from wines in this region.

A lovely example of a mature spätlase. The sugar has integrated leaving a rich fruity off dry profile. Classic mosel riesling.

A nice example of a chianti classico. Possibly still a bit young as there is quite a pronounced acidic hit before settling into a nice mouthful of fruit and fine tannins. Best with food.

Bright garnet with aromas of forest floor and mushrooms. A big mouthful of ripe red fruit balanced by a nice firm acidic streak and tanins. This outperforms its humble origins and price point. Very good value.

First off this came in a stupidly heavy bottle. The wine was pleasant but not what I expect from Chablis. It was a ripe rich Chardonnay, I missed the austere flintiness that is more typical.

Pale lemon, not much in the way of aromas. Initially quite soft in the mouth but there is a good backbone of acidity to give it structure. The flavours are floral with honeysuckle and llemon. Good value at Eur 7.

At 11 years old this was still drinking well (Local habit is to drink riesling relatively young). I wouldn't hold it for much longer as it has most probably peaked and is losing some of its interest.

Pleasant enough, well made but just finished a little flat. You can find better examples but at €7 it's hard to complain too much.

Pale lemon colour, no distinguishable aromas. A burst of sweetness in the mouth followed by an acidic hit leaving a dry fruity finish. Quite full bodied. Reminicent of an off dry German riesling. Good value at 5eur.

First from a case of 6. At the start of its drinking window, tannins quite well integrated, lots of red fruit, a nice touch of vanilla from the oak. Possibly lacking a touch of acidity and I felt it finished a bit short. But overall a solid performance, unmistakably Bordeaux.

Despite its youth this drank well after an hour's decant. The characteristic flavours came through with hints of future complexity. I will keep my other bottles for 3-5 years before trying again.

Drank from a magnum. To be honest I was a little underwhelmed by this. I have been a big fan of Lamy’s wine but this one wasn’t all that special. It was a bit too acid and the flavours didn’t come through.

A restaurant purchase in Turin to accompany some excellent wild boar ravioli. Still a bit young so the acidity is quite pronounced and the tannins are quite firm. But nonetheless this is a decent wine which given some time should round out a bit. Pale garnet with a pale rim. Red fruit flavours with some spice on the finish. A little short.

I think this is still a bit young. It’s drinking well already but as it opened up it hinted at some more complexity which would lift it beyond a decent wine.

I guess my tastes have moved on over the years but I find the hot alcohol impression is not compensated for by the flavour delivered. On opening it was very hot on the palate with intense medicinal flavours. At dinner 3 hours later it had settled down somewhat but I was a bit underwhelmed. A couple of my friends pronounced it to be good so probably just not my thing.

Pale gold colour. Indistinct aromas. It is a surprisingly heavy wine with a high glycerine content but has enough acidity to balance it. The flavours are a bit indistinct but it is slightly oaked giving it a vanilla after taste. If I had tasted this blind I would have guessed a Mersault style burgundy. It was not at all what I had expected from Sicily - obviously an international style. Despite it all it was a pleasant glass of wine and paired quite well with chicken satay.

Translucent garnet with a slight pale rim and some legs. Initially a whiff of barnyard on the nose and them some hints of black fruit. In the mouth it feels darker than the colour suggests - it's got a good hit of acidity to balance lots of dark fruits and spices almost medicinal. Tannins are starting to integrate but still present. First of twelve - will be interesting to follow its development.

A restaurant purchase on holiday at lake Garda. Phenol’s note pretty much nails it but I think his score is a bit toppy. But a very nice bottle.
