Drank side by side with Laroque over 3 Days

Sansonnet // Laroque

ABV: 15% // 14.5
Coulour: Darker Cherry // Dark Cherry
Acid: Medium + // Medium++
Tannins: Medium+ // Medium++
Body: Medium+++ // Medium+
Length: Full // Full

Sansonnet: Ready to drink now and beyond 2030. Much rounder full bodied but by no means overdone or heavy, there's enough freshness there.. Tannins and acid seem more integrated having more fruit weight.. Alcohol also well balanced being so high.. Cherry, Cassis, Plum just ripe Blackberry, mint.. Coconut, chocolate, cigar and nice subtle violet.. 91

Laroque: Let this sit a few more years, Firmer perceived Tannins and slightly edgy acid.. I like the mouth feel of this better, more mouth wetting.. The alcohol was noticeable which detracted for me quite a bit.. Mulberry, Blackberry, red currant, raspberry.. Ash tobacco, fennel, suede and violet.. 90

Shimmering pale cherry red with watery outer hue.

Cherry, strawberry, raspberry, violets/roses, slight salty licorice..

This is first class, nothing is forced.. The whole bunch is balanced perfectly, no green and just enough tannins.. The acid also seems natural and everything seems nicely balanced at such an early stage.. The acid will intergate even more over the coming years.. Drink now to 10 years..

Really Good..

Grapefruit and lemon fruit that lingers some 15-20 seconds.. Slight sherbet zing, butter developing and slight honey and mineral...

V good, I've had better Tyrrell’s sems but it's still a few years off peaking I think..

Decanted for 2hrs.. I don't drink a heap of Coonawarra cabs anymore but this is bang on.. Really lovely fruit probably more blue/red fruit then the black.. It has the usual dusty earth and slight mint with quality just ripe tannins. Balance between acid and fruit is also excellent..

Drinks nicely now with a decant and will also last 10 years..

Really nice

Excellent QPR for Burgundy..

2nd of my case 1st was slightly oaky 2nd seemed more integrated...

Medium plus bodied Blackberry, Plum and Raspberry fruit and slightly juicy mouth wetting.. Slight tar, roses, licorice, spice and earth... Tea like tannins and acid are nicely in balance at such an early stage but I think this will hold for at least 10 years.

Really Nice!!

Apple, lemon, oatmeal, brine, butter menthol/creamy vanilla.

This is a really well made chardonnay. Balance is really good.. Personally, I'd love a fraction more zing and a little less oatmeal but hey a really good wine that'll last 5 years easily..

Pale straw/golden little to no green

Lemon/lime, honey, developed richness and slight orange pith..

Balance is in a good spot right now.. Juicy fruit and just enough citrus zing to freshen things up..

Personally I'd drink over the next few years but it'll probably hold longer..

Probably a little more developed then I was expecting also... Drinking exceptionaly well however, Florita is quite apt, there's a lovely very subtle rose/violet sweetness in the background to match the Apple, lemon mineral and slight richness starting to develop...

Splendid!!

Cork was in pristine condition. Likewise was the wine... Terrific value and still has years ahead although I don't think it will benefit.. I'll likely keep my last bottle a few more years or so to be adventurous..

Slight sediment and cloudy. Colour is Dark cherry red with cherry hue..

Reductive ripe cherries, plum and cola with Ocean Springs cranberry juice keeping the fruit nicely balanced.. I also picked up some potting soil and rose hip..

Drank over 2 days... First day it was more fresh/sour and a bit lighter.. The 2nd day the fruit gained more weight and depth and the potting soil became quite prominent.. Enjoyed both days, this can easily go the distance I'd suggest..

This is special stuff, must bye more Farr wines...

Underwhelmed!!

Yeringberg 2013 was by far my Bordeaux blend of the year last year and I went long on purchasing.. So after so many glowing reviews of the 15 I bought a few before potentially going long again but I'm disappointed.. There is a heat and acid issue for me.. I see the potential lurking behind these flaws and am hoping time will help...

I have done some digging and have found Gary Walsh TWF had similar issues with the 13 around the same time from release which is interesting. Hopefully history repeats on this vintage but it's a hold on buying more for me for now...

More citrus fruit then the 16.. Makes sense considering the hot ripe year in 16..

Lemon, passion fruit, cashew, honey dew, flint and mineral... Prefer the 16 which has more stone fruit... This may age well, will hold on my last for a few years..

Sweltering growing season... Can still remember the 40+ degree days the yarra had in December and the ground was bone dry before January which is unusual. My blackberries came 2 to 3 weeks earlier for reference.

Drank over 4 days..

Prefer this for balance over the 15 at the early stage.. The fruit is slightly ripper which seems to balance the "natural" acidity better then 15..

Blackcurrent, red plum, raspberry, pipe tobacco, definitely violets on day 3, spice, black tea...

Medium body
Medium ++ acidity
Medium Tannins
Medium ++ length

Good now but has many many years to go and will improve..

Fantastic!!

Blackcurrent, charcoal, ash, cedar, pepper, anise spice, mint and dark chocolate..

My word this is good for a a 32 year old wine, the acid and tannins have resolved nicely as you'd expect but it's far from flabby...There's probably still more to come, these wynns cabs are amazing value for money still to this day... Really should cellar more..
