Tasted in Bordeaux at L'Envers du Decor. Decanted. Dark black color and fading at the rim. Open almost from the get go. Blackberry and stones on the nose. On the palate a really elegant wine with a modestly long finish. Opened up and got better through the night. Drinks great now. Hard to see it improving - perhaps a touch. Drink now and over the next 10-15 years.

Great Cotes. A Cornas for sure. Decanted 2 hrs. Beautiful dark red color. At opening, the wine had a great herbly nose of tar, tobacco, red fruits. After time in the decanter, the nose mellowed and integrated (liked it better at first). Nice red currant on the palate, good concentration. Medium long finish. Generally ripe tanins but somewhat chalky at times. Good structure. Very enjoyable now, but you can sense it will develop a lot in the bottle after 3+ years. Great value wine. Happy I have a case. 92pts for now but could move up if it develops more complexity on the palate and nose.

Decanted 2hrs. Modest blackberry and tobacco on the nose. Similar on the palate. Good density for a 99. Modest finish. Great food wine. Wanted more intensity or complexity for a higher score, but not there. Very solid wine. Great with food. Good value for a Leoville. Drink now or over next 10 years.

Love this wine. It always performs. Deep rich color. Broad blue fruits on the nose, blueberry, blackberry. Lavender. On the palate. Similar. Not a huge tarry monster. Modest finish. Decent acidity. Outperforms its ranking very much. Drink up now but will last 5+ years, but why wait.

Really nice wine that is still tight. Needs atleast 2+ years before it shows it stuff. Dark extracted wine with minimal fruit on the nose. Very rich on the palate but balance. One of the most balanced 03's I have had. Good structure and modestly long finish. Great value. Tried the next day after being open 24 hrs. Wine is less primary and some red currant fruit (merlot?) is showing through. A winner of a wine.

Bought on release. 1 case. This wine is coming arround. No longer too tight to drink. Elegant spicy red fruits on the nose, still a little muted. Similar on the palate. The depth is becoming more apparent since the last tasting 1 year ago. Mod long finish. Ok with decanting, but wine needs 1-2 years as it seems it should get much better. Should be killer with more time. Great value.

Bought on release $20, 55 degree cellar. Blackish color with some red. 7yrs has helped bring the wine out. On the nose, tobacco, some cedar, lots of leather and blackberry. On the palate, sweetish, ripe attack. somewhat tight on the finish. With 2hrs of air, the wine rounds out and become much smoother. It's heritage become apparent. Good depth and acidity. Still needs more time 1-2 years, so will get better. Very nice elegant, food friendly wine that most people will like. 91/92+ pts. Have to buy some of the first wine given the quality of this wine.

Bought from Draegers cold storage 1 year ago. Fill at bottom of neck but not below it. Opened bottle for 1 hr with no decant and then decanted. "Cork in nice shape, still spongey. Dark wine, rose at the rim, but not browning. At first on the nose, ok spice and tobacco. Thin and disjointed on the palate, not too intense. Drank over 4 hrs. The wine continued to add weight, complexity, and intensity in a big way. Nose has tobacco, mint, dried wheat, leather, red currants, very Margaux. Should have decanted this wine 4hrs before drining. This wine could age another 7-10 years easy.

Begining to turn brown on the rim. Nice forest floor nose begining to develop. Smooth and balanced on the palate. A very correct wine. Pommard structure coming through. Develops a better nose with more time in the glass. Happy to age more a the structure is somewhat overbearing. Will there still be fruit once the tannins mellow? If so this can be a nearly great wine. If you have a few, drink one now, but I will age mine another 1+ years before having more. This could hang with a steak given its structure. Drink with food unless you have high tanin tolerance.

This wine has really developed its secondary characteristics over the last year. The Grenache fruit is still there, if a little muted. Now there is a good amount of black currant on the nose and palate. Still lots of acid and tannin. This wine has 10+ years to go. Will get better with another 5+ years. Lots of sediment. I like it younger while their is still fruit, but it also has good secondary characteristics. Great with food. Yum. Drink my remaining lot over the next 3-5 yrs.

Tasted the 07 Beaucastel last week at a Beltramos 2007 Rhone tasting. It’s a very impressive wine. IMHO, the best Beaucastel since the 2001. Better than 2005.

I tasted it over a 2 hr period from bottles that were specially air shipped for the event. At first I was not impressed with the wine. It was thin and not integrated. Not that interesting. After a couple hours of air, the wine changed in a big way. It put on lots of weight and became better integrated. Solid amounts of fruit with great structure. It’s a very serious wine that is not as flashy or forward as many of the other 2007 rhones. It requires lots of decanting or 10+ years. 95/96 pts.

Long finish. If it had the complexity, it would be better than 85% of Palmer first. wine. Way more dense than 2002, 2004 Palmer. Will be a great wine. Score likely to move up over time.

Tasted at Ridge and compared to 2008, 2005, 1995, and 1997. On the nose it destroyed these wines. Huge Bordeaux like nose of cigar box, tobacco and blackberry. Acidic on the palate. Long finish. They said this wine need 5+ years to come together and I believe it but when it does it will be a monumental Monte Bello. Drink now with decanting and a greasy steak or leave in the cellar 5+ years. Have to buy some of this.

Bought and stored since release. Very big wine. Decanted 2+ hrs and needed every minute of it, but still ready to go. Very big nose of tobacco and cigar box. Similar note on the palate with a long finish with mostly ripe but somewhat gritty tannins. On the palate, somewhat thin/mod weight which is typical of most Margaux. Mostly blackfruit/cigar box. More modern in style. Excellent wine. Wish I bought more. This wine leaves a strong impression on all who try it. Way outperforms the vintage. Drink now with decanting. Will get better over next 5 yrs. Great wine.

This wine is in the zone now. Decanted for 2 hours. Herbally nose of tree bark and leather: textbook Phelan Segur. Color is black with only modest fading at rim. With about 20 minutes, the wine's tannins largely resolved. Good fresh and balanced mid palate. Decent fruit but with a touch of tartness (made it great with food) with a long finish. Excellent with Lamb at Evia. Only 12.5% alcohol. I think this wine can go another 10yrs, but be excellent for another 5+. Very impressed with this wine. Everybody loved this wine. Wish I had more.

Bought on release. Very complex and interesting wine. Popped and poured before decanting, very strong minerally, spicy nose with red/black fruits. Color is dark blue. After a few minutes, spikey notes of leather and tobacco, bull's blood pop out on the nose. After 1 hr decanting, the nose has softened and rounded out out but it is still very intense. On the palate, very balanced with black-fruit. Long finish. Still has a good amount of tannins. Continued to get better over the night. Will get better with another 3-4 years. Very impressive wine.

OK wine but I was expecting more. Bright red color that turned darker with air. Red fruits/strawberry on the nose. On the palate a moderate amount of fruit with limited complexity. Short finish with mostly resolved tannins. Might get a bit better but for the $ it should have been much better. This would have be a decent Bourgogne. Jean Raphet did a much better job with this wine. Hope my other 2002 Raphets are better than this.

Decanted 2 hrs. Dark blackish color. On the nose, big blackberry/black currant nose. On the palate, sweet upfont but with good acidity. Prune, currant, and blackcurrant spice. Clearly a ripe year, but not as overripe as Californian Syrah. Short-moderately long finish. Over time, the granite minerality becomes more pronounced. Tannins almost fully resolved. Time to drink up. A great Croze and excellent buy for $24

Dark blue with blackberry on the nose. Sweet ripe fruit on the palate with moderate blackberry finish. Very smooth and elegant. Not a lot of complexity or Margaux spice on the nose on the palate which holds back the score. Should get better over the next 3-4 years as there is still a good amount a tannin remaining. Great for a second wine from a weaker vintage!

Opened and double decanted after 1hr. Blackish color with good viscosity. Classic herbally -tar/smoke/blackberry/rasberry nose of Cab Franc. On the palate, ripe blackberry/rasberry with some tar. Very well balanced and excellent with roast chicken. Somewhat lean on that palate which is what you would expect for a "classic" year 2002. Moderately long finish with lingering tannins. Decanted for 2.5 hours. Color/density has faded a lot from when first purchased. Some light bricking on rim. Some spicy red fruit on the nose. The palate is more intense with spicy red currant. Some earth. Very long finish. Tannins still a little overbearing. Modest sediment. Needs another 2-3 years to be at peak but enjoyable now. Tannins don't fade much with decanting. Very nice wine. Beautiful red fruits and forest floor nose. Ruby red color with some signs of bricking on the rim. On the palate, sweet red fruits, almost candied but stops short, just great fruit. Modest depth. Some spice on the palate-gunflint. Not the density/intensity/complexity as truely great red burgundys, but still very enjoyable and well made.

Long finish with ripe tannin. Drinking well now and over the next 5+ years. Tannins could resolve a bit more, but I would be afraid to lose the fruit intensity. Excellent red burgundy.

Anybody who bought this got hosed.

Decanted 6 hours. Forward exotic nose of expensive oak and sweet fruit. Color is redish black but not nearly as dark as Cos or Leoville Barton. On the palate sweet attack, but not that dense on the palate. Shocking really given its status. 2002-2004 were much more dense. Ok finish. Very flamboyant. Clerc Milion and D'armaihac were much better wines than this with better density/intensity and finish. Looks like they focused on volume vs quality at Mouton. Buy it for the label and status, but don't serve it to wine geeks unless you want to be embarassed. $700 a joke.

Spicy nose with some oak. Dark color but not that dense. On the palate, sweet attack, but relatively light on the palate. Finish is a little rough-astringent despite being decanted 6+ hrs. An elegant wine, but not a great Pichon, and worse that anything 99-2004. Not even up to the Reserve from 2000. The reserve from 2005 is about as good. Looks like the had little to no selection for the wine. I guess they needed money to pay the taxman as the Chateau was sold this year. Not as bad as Parker's rating, but not worth anything close to what they asked for it.
