Drinking great right now. Easy tannin, mild bricking along the edge with a brooding dark core, violets, licorice, earth, licorice, dark fruit undertone...One of the best bottles of Barolo I've ever had.

One of the best bottles of Bordeaux I've had in the last few years. I keep coming back to it. After much thought, and 3 bottles consumed, I'm ready to give this wine 100 points!

Muted nose with vanilla extract & white flowers. Flavor comes forward subtlety then expands like a cone with richness and complexity. Watermelon rind, hay, meyer lemon, sea grass, oyster shell, honeycomb, fine texture but manages to glaze the mouth with rich flavors of chicken fat, walnut, almond, and fermented hops on the end.

Parmesan cheese, white pepper, jalapeno, lemon, dried pineapple, mango, slate, razor-blade acidity, fine texture and mouth-feel, deep complexity and high impact. Can be cellared for many years more. $200 price tag I could pay $300...Ironically this bottle had signs of past seepage, which is why it was consumed now, but no signs of premox/oxidation.

Very floral, white chocolate, cherry liquor, rose pedal, rhubarb, mild spice and nice tension. This wine was much better on day 2 which leads me to believe I'm approaching this early. Delicious, but be sure to decant or wait to drink.

Blueberry, Mint Chocolate, Strawberry, White Chocolate, Raw Beef, Black Cherry, Licorice, Cotton Candy, Coffee, Earth and Stone...Tannins are fine, medium body but rich in flavor and deeply complex. Loved this wine, looking forward to drinking this mature but excellent now. Will buy more bottles.

Cotton candy strawberry sugar bomb. Same color as Welch's grape juice. Perhaps suitable as a dessert wine. Interesting to try, but will not buy again.

Anise, mint, eucalyptus, blackberry, chalky and powdery tannins, with a short Welch's grape juice finish...Visually the wine is dense and young, with little bricking and deep color, but under delivering for me in dimension with a short chalky finish. It's a good wine, but I'm not really interested in buying more.

I think Suckling really nailed this one, we're sharing similar notes...Cold stones on entry followed by strawberries, white chocolate, vanilla custard, cumin, black licorice, black cherry, with soft fine chalky tannins. Elegant and rich at the same time this wine is clearly complex. The flavors fall in line smoothly, perhaps aided by the alcohol which is noticeably high, but synchronizes everything together harmoniously. The wine is approachable now and actually really interesting.

Perfect cork and provenance. fennel, cedar, eucalyptus nose, moderate bricking dark rose around the rim. Drinking easy, elegant, mature, pennies, cedar, black cherry, Thai spice, raw meats, and all kinds of licorice. Really enjoying this wine, however not overly compelled to buy more. Maybe a little better than 92 points but most likely will not improve much further with age.

Previously consumed in Feburary, this is my second bottle this year, I couldn't wait to drink it again! I've awarded the same score as the last bottle at 93 points. Lemon, cheese, popcorn, saltwater taffy, light custard, petroleum, vibrant acidity, salinity, and fresh minerality. I hope to find this wine available in the marketplace again as this is my last bottle :)

Parker is right on the money with this one (RP97), however I feel like i need to elevate to 98 points after drinking this bottle with a party of 4 last night. deeply layered, black cherry, spices, pencil shavings, meaty and still incredibly youthful. Will be trying to source more bottles.

Really enjoyed PETERNELSON's review below. Descriptors were spot on. Delicious bottle, excellent acidity, fresh vibrant flavors with plenty of life. Saltwater taffy, oysters, flavors of the sea, freshly cracked minerals and chalk, melon rind, a touch of game and cheese, light and clean on the palate. What a value @ $75, I'll be looking for more bottles.

$100 Rose? Pale peach color. Creamy fat texture, creamsicle, white onion, white pepper, peach, apricot, tangerine, and dash of lime custard. Good stuff but more exciting at $60.

One of the best bottles of mature Bordeaux I've had recently under $100. Completely opaque, deep dark color, narrow maroon rim. Chocolate, rich meats, black cherry, blueberry, mint, eucalyptus, spices, glycerol on the finish, mildly gripping tannins...Wine Advocate's "late" note regarding its maturity status is off, this has plenty of legs. Paid $75 today, worth every penny.

Drank over the course of 2 days. Contrary to some of the other reviews I believe this wine is drinking mature but with plenty of life. Color is brown/brick on the rim core is deep ruby. Tannins are soft and lasting but not grippy. High acidity. This is a medium body wine, very floral on the nose and palate, lavender, anise, dry roses, spice & tobacco leaf, mature plum and cherry. A floral and graceful Barolo with medium complexity.

Lemon zest, pineapple, banana, white pepper, and dairy nose. Yellow tropical fruits on palate, lemon cream pie, cheese, oak, vanilla, honeycomb with a big burst of white pepper and spice. High alcohol and weighty. Ultra rich wine, the high acidity freshens the extremely heavy flavors and brings them into balance, but it's a little too fat for me, everything is intensified. Its been awhile since I've had a California Chardonnay, and this expresses all the extreme characteristics of it's style. Not my kind of Chard, but clearly a well made wine and fun to try something different tonight. My remaining bottles will be racked for awhile..Day 2, still slutty, is this a desert wine?????????????

Black olive, black cherry, Indian spices, peppercorn, sweet cedar, plum, pencil shavings. Fully mature, drink now. Not my most memorable Togni but an excellent wine nevertheless and IMO worthy of it's price to me @ $90.

I suppose I underestimated this wine as I was immediately impressed with this Burg from the get-go...Coffee and chocolate nose, rich and fat, well structured and still even a bit grippy. Pumpkin spice, gobs of blue fruit and blackberry with a hint of grapefruit rind. Thrilling and delicious, what an incredible bargain for a mature 1er Cru. I would be happy to have paid double for a bottle like this.

Drank alongside 1975 Ducru-Beaucaillou and 1975 Latour. Bottle was in good overall condition, very top shoulder fill, cork was wet 75% through and slightly protruding. Pulled from an original parcel this was the worst of the batch. Sublime and Rich, chocolate, tobacco mature dark fruit with weight. I've had this wine 3 times now. Two were big hits one was less exciting but still quite worthy. More mature than the others in tonight's group but a serious bargain at $140 a bottle compared to California performers of the same age. drink up now but still has legs. Looking forward to my next bottle.

Surprised at how youthful this wine was. A powerfully delicious modern pinot, lots of oak and tannin still abound hard to penetrate but delicious and complex rich red fruits and clay lasting full mouth feel. I'd like to revisit this wine in a few more years. 92+

Base neck fill. Clean cork pull with a pop, however the cork was saturated through and through. Nevertheless, the wine was unflawed and a phenomenal drink. Critic reviews of this wine are too modest. I paid $65 a bottle for these this less than a year ago. I'm calling it my bargain of the year. Cant wait to open my next bottle.

Drank alongside 1975 Ducru-Beaucaillou and a 1978 Leoville las Cases. The surprise from this wine came from it's upper shoulder fill and a slightly sunken cork which was wet past the crown. Another testament to the resilience of these wines as there were strong signs this bottle may had been mishandled in the past as the cork indicated, light seepage at the base of the cap and its ullage. Mature with plenty of life to live. Initially light on the nose which later opened up to florals. Rich and complex, lush sweet chocolate, dark fruit, duck fat and rhubarb. The wine of the night. Superb.

What a surprise. Drank alongside a 1975 Latour and a 1978 Leoville las Cases. Clean cork pull proper storage indicated, pulled from an OWC parcel. Comparably more rustic than the other two in the group. Dynamic and mature with plenty of life left. Rich complex black fruit, pencil wood, herbs, tobacco and spice. This is the third time I've had this wine in 12 months. Seriously under appreciated against Parker's score of 88 points. This wine was phenomenal and a hell of a bargain Bordeaux at today's price of $125. Buy this wine, drink it and relish in it's value or sell me your bottles!

Day 1...Slight pungency, prominent and powdery tannin, stewed red fruits, plum, black cherry and spice. Usually a decent pinot for the price but I'm not a buyer of this vintage again.

Day 2...Most of the fruit is gone, tannic, cardboard, chalky mouth feel an old dead plum is all that is left. Lowered the score from the 88 I had awarded if yesterday to 87 because I'm inclined to score this an 86- today.

Base of the capsule showed corrosion and signs of past seepage. Once the cap was removed sediments and mold were present at the crown of the cork. Cork had to be extracted in three pieces and was wet throughout. Color is rich and deep at the core amber at the rim. Nose is complex and full of life, no signs of tainting or spoilage. Initially strong flavors of pennies but the wine completely came together half way through the first glass. What a surprise, delicious and well integrated, soft tannins, spiced pear, licorice, red roses and black cherry. Clearly complex and an easy drinker, still mature and charming. Bottles like this prove how well Bordeaux can hold up even in the face of improper storage and seepage. People that are overly conceded about province simply have not explored wines like this enough. I was anticipating a total dud. Looking forward to my next 1975 Calon Segur!

Bottle shows excellent storage. Cork came out clean with suction, wet 1/3 the way up. This wine is still very pleasurable but a bit more advanced and less complex than the 1984 I had only a few days ago. Both bottles were sourced from the same collection. Drink these up now.

375ml. Perfect condition. Cork was only about 1cm wet past it's seal and came out with suction. This wine is drinking much better than the 1975. An easy 90 points. Superb 38 years later even from a half bottle.

It took about an hour and 1/2 before the heat and acid blew off this wine and started to soften up and show its profile. This is like drinking chocolate covered strawberries and blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream. Well intergraded tannins softly coat my cheeks. My teeth are glazed with flavor. Drank alongside lamb chops and a gem salad with Balsamic Modena dressing. What a night.

Low expectations for a mid-shoulder 1959 Mouton was shattered. Did not write notes at the time but rather relaxed and enjoyed the juice.

375ml bottle. Good fill intact cork. No decanting.

Day 1...Garnet color throughout. Burgundian profile decimated tannins. Forest floor, moss, wet stones, mushroom, leather and Band-aid flavors. Drinks fast. Unique, hard to structure a clear opinion.

Day 2...Interestingly forest floor flavors have blown off. Wine has evolved to resemble a Barbaresco in flavor body and texture. Spice, soil, tobacco, cigar box and plum fruit. Acid and tannin are more present. It was a better wine yesterday but still a great drink.
