This continues a fine run of vintages. The usual attributes, crackles with energy. Better next year I suspect.

1/13/24, 1:37 AM - I probably 'borrowed' it from somewhere! Though, I don't recall doing so, consciously.

Tip top colour; stylish, beautifully oaked; harmonious, tremendous impact; grand finish. Fully ready. 92
  • chbeaumont commented:

12/15/23, 8:46 AM - No. I have posted 50 point CT scores for all my DdC Blanc TNs, in protest at the unreliability!

Plum coloured, dull; muffled red fruit, on the restrained side; lovely purity of fruit; elegant finish. Very long.
  • chbeaumont commented:

8/3/23, 5:25 AM - No hurry needed, but best to start drinking, IMHO.

Deep; cigar box & cedar, black fruits, sleek; lean, stingy, fretful, marked acidity; attenuated finish. Disappoints.
  • chbeaumont commented:

8/27/22, 3:16 AM - From memory 'popped & poured' but drunk over three hour duration.

This has hardly progressed since two years ago. An attractive floral nose, thrilling tension, needs another 5 years.
  • chbeaumont commented:

12/14/21, 2:35 PM - Took & shared with Mark Haisma at his caveau. We had a philosophical discussion around what's the point of making a wine that needs 20 years.

Real depth, good weight, powers through to vigorous finish. Another 5 years in the tank.
  • chbeaumont commented:

11/23/21, 3:13 AM - Good spot! No formal note or rating as shared at a family bash. But this wine consistently delivers, from year to year, at a sensible price.

Pale; restrained, low key, crusty bread/toasty hints; sleek, trim palate, lively acidity; plenty on a very long indeed finish. Leave for 12+ months.
  • chbeaumont commented:

10/24/20, 1:33 PM - Np disgorgement date. I'm reliably informed the base year is 2014 - in fact it's entirely '14

I really dont get the review by M Lupus. For me this is a superb traditionally styled Barolo. A sweet, discrete nose of rose petal. Nice thrillling mid palate tannic grip. Complex and gripping until the long, delicate aftertaste. Am curious as to what a really nice Barolo is to M Lupus. And by the way: quite open and balanced now, will improve but for me 2011’s are for early drinking.

9/19/20, 4:16 AM - AG on Vinous, describes E Cogno as a 'new traditionalist', which I would say is a neat assessment. 2011 does appear to be a forward, accessible vintage & none the worse for it.

Maison MC Thiriet Visit and Tasting (Comblanchien): Barrel tasting at the cuverie. Floral and engaging start. Nothing oxidative here, thank goodness from a Jura white. Slightly fat in the middle, but this remains bright and engaging. Good+.

2/24/20, 7:31 AM - Useful note. Now in bottle & I have managed to secure a few as part of a small parcel. It will be interesting to taste one next month.

Pale ruby; tar & roses, riveting; lacy, refreshing acidity, softly-softly fruit, fresh feel & balanced; extended finish.
  • chbeaumont commented:

6/12/19, 2:43 AM - It can be drunk & enjoyed now , but will offer considerably more during the next decade.

Dark; classy, fulsome, fresh black currants, direct; clean, refreshing palate, tannins remain but wrapped in ripe, dark fruits. Forthright, sturdy & vigourous finish. Should drink well for close to a decade.
  • chbeaumont commented:

1/1/18, 2:02 AM - Flawed? My ability to post a TN accurately. Duly corrected.

Initial brettiness; very impressive next day, this was a lovely to drink. Fulsome, real depth; clearly has loads of time in hand.

Rich colour; easygoing. weak nose, lurking underneath a stalkiness providing some character; friendly, rounded, weak against roast lamb but alone shows more backbone. Initially innocuous but developed with time. Decent enough. Hard to gauge if any improvement possible. Safest to drink soon. On revisiting a couple of hours later, this showed much better & had sufficient stuffing for medium term drinking.
  • chbeaumont commented:

    10/24/14, 10:55 AM - Definitely!

Continues to progress at a snails pace. The weight & presence to accompany roast leg of lamb, lovely texture. Can be enjoyed now but potential room to improve.
  • chbeaumont commented:

11/15/13, 1:52 PM - Didn't decant, but pulled the cork a couple of hours beforehand.
