Effin cork. Why do so many producers still persist?? Mouldy under the foil and soaked through cork. Ergh. Sounds like a few others are copping the same.

4/2/19, 10:23 PM - they do offer a screwcap option now, so when ordering from them specify screwcap

Meh. Just didn't live up to expectations. Second bottle in the last 4 months and pretty much the same. A bit on the dull side, drinkable but no wow factor. Should have bought some Standish shiraz at roughly the same price.

9/18/18, 8:15 PM - leaving my bottles of this for at least another 5-10 years I think, is it just slumbering or a bit non?

Lake's Folly Birthday lunch (McLeay Street Bistro, Potts Point): Cedar, plentiful herbaceous notes, black fruits, very eucalyptus, wild blackcurrant. Juicy, fleshy, very Cabernet ,glorious and wet and lovely for me. Marvellous.

Coming together nicely, definitely a crunchy leaner style but nice food wine

3/5/18, 1:58 AM - I would agree with needing a couple of things, that being the need for time and not enough body, but I dont find the oak at all intrusive, different palates!

NobleRottersSydney - Hunter Valley (Verde, East Sydney): { screwcap, 13.5%} (Graeme) A developed and spectacular mix of earth and spice; ripe grape aromas but all savoury promise. The palate is medium-bodied, with soft chalky tannins. It’s seamless, with a long even presence on the tongue; hints to blackberry and dust, with a little leathery oak are evident. Medium-bodied, but with a long, dry, savoury finish, this is seriously evocative and almost wistful in is seductiveness. A standout wine, presumably at peak, but showing no sign of falling over. A reasonable but not great vintage in the Hunter, I’d drink these (if I had more) over the next five or so years.

11/8/16, 5:29 PM - Hi Graeme, I know it was a while ago but do you think it's worth $100 to buy at auction? Good guaranteed provenance
    Cheers

Nice cassis and dark fruit nose, rich fruits classic peppery spices that are evolving to a liquorice flavour but not quite there yet
Could age a touch longer 2-3 years at least
  • theporkrail commented:

6/1/15, 7:35 AM - Not the improvement I would have hoped for on second night. Still lots of primary fruits although mellowed prominent tannins and dry finish. Solid wine but not spectacular
