This is in an excellent spot. Big and rich with enough balance to be enjoyable. FWIW, I wouldn’t hold these too much longer

I always feel that twinge when I drink the last bottle of my stash. This was full of spice, cedar and rich fruit. Still drinking young. Beautiful wine.

This just keeps improving. Such a long finish. Pure, clean, toasty, powerful. Hints of spice, peach and apricot. This wine has a presence

20 years young. My last bottle of 6. This was really excellent. Fresh, nutty, yeasty, long finish. First of an excellent night at Tony’s

Yes it’s a bit heavily oaked. But for $20 per, this is fantastic QPR. All hail 2005

Lovely pomerol at this level. Perfectly mature and could stay there several more years. Fruit and tannins in balance. Highly recommend opening one tonight

Another powerful 2005 coming into focus. Big fruit, rich, but not pruney. Throws a lot of sediment. Well stored bottles could go another 5+ years. $20 back in 2007. Score is for the QPR

Drunk over 2 nights. First night brighter and more grippy, 2nd a bit more mellow and nuttier. Stayed fine throughout. For me, textbook high quality CM. Hard to believe I paid $44 for this…

Drunk over 2 nights. First glasses feature strong iron and mineral notes. Slight tannic backbone and nice acidity. Fruit is in the higher register. Day 2, no surprise, the fruit dominates yet still quite refreshing. Wonderful QPR here. Should have backed up the truck

Thirteen years since my last bottle. This is marvellous. Beautiful floral nose. Rich red fruit, leather, spice, with excellent balance. Paired with 140 day Italian beef. Wonderful. $45 en primeur.

Very little sign of aging, more closed than expected. In fact, decided to decant. Matched perfectly with a carpaccio of dry-aged beef at Tony’s. Just the faintest hint of cork taint so was opened at the right time

Drank with appetisers at Tony’s with M. This bottle was in beautiful shape. Vibrant golden color. Lovely nose, prominent lanolin and peach and tropical fruit notes, with a very long finish. Came back to the last of the bottle towards the end of the meal and was even better.

Cork was totally shot so this might not reflect typical bottle. Feels fully resolved. No noticeable tannins. Beautiful nose and mouth of graphite, smoke, mineral and dark blue fruit. Rich, velvety mouth feel. Based on this one, suggest drinking by 2025. I’ll pull another from storage soon to check

Terrific CNdP nose. The spice cabinet is wide open. Cinnamon, star anise, etc. Second half of the bottle feels more unfocused and muddled. Not sure if I should wait on remaining bottles or drink up

My last bottle of a bad wine from a poor vintage by a great producer. Purchased on release for $50, wish I’d bought a case or 2. Aside from a short finish, there’s nothing lacking here. Prolly near peak, could go a few more years for those willing to take a risk

Really sings for a Gigondas. Cinnamon and other spices, garrigue galore, some acidity still keeps it refreshing. I’d guess this is at peak, and likely to start falling off soon

Opened and let breath in bottle for 5 hours. First glass about 2 hours later. Started quite nice but felt like it became muddled and unfocused over time. Or maybe that was me… Paired with 50 day old Finnish Sachi

Drinking well with air. Opened the bottle 4 hours, no decant. Typical Pessac notes of tobacco and pencil lead. Tannins still evident in the first pour, melt over time. Happy to have 8 more bottles. I think this drinks well until 2030
