Bland and too singular in dimensions... Prune and liquorice on the nose, decent fine tannins and acidity ... nothing much on the finish. Meh.

I am coming to the conclusion that either I just don't like some of the very 'best' Sancerre wines that are made, or I am drinking them too young. Just not sure it's my thing. Never really 'got' this wine, kind of like some other super-famous producers' renditions (Vatan, F. Cotat, etc.). Anyone else feel the same, or is it just me?

1/5/21, 3:04 PM - I have found the Vacheron Chambrates and Les Romains stunning in their youth. The peach and stone fruit, with a mix of acidity and roundness are very pleasant. I've had a few Cotat with age on them and I also find them quite enjoyable.

What I seem to be learning is that the Sancerre I was initially drinking is quite different from the reference points these producers have been made out to be. Looking back on the hohum Sancerre I drank, they feel quite a bit rustic in comparison. A lot of acid, not too much fruit and generally not very complex, but enjoyable.

Strange blend. A bit of a sweet aftertaste. Certainly needs time to open up, and could used some chilling. Acidity eventually balanced out with tannins. Very berry on the nose. Medium body.
