Well past its prime. Initially it was decent, notes of truffle and a hint of fruit. But within an hour it was little more than tannins and acid.

Initially tight, but after getting some air it formed up nicely. Solid example of a Sancerre.

Tobacco, cassis, graphite... Big tannins on the outset...
Split between decanter and bottle airation. Over 6 hours the decanted half lost its fruit and tannins, came off flat

Gaining character over time... This is best bottle of the case that I have. A nice nose of tar and maybe cherry and rose. Great acidity and fine tannins.

Nose was full of black olive, black currant and a hint of iron. Fantastic balance between acid and increasingly chewy tannins (bottle was open for about 4 hours). Delicious!

Better slightly chilled, cuts the alcohol a bit.

Half decanted and half left in the bottle.

Out of the decanter, over four hours a hint of bilberry, but tar, rose, and something dank and early dominated. The tannins, while strong, were evened out by the acidity. The finish was pleasant, bitter, like dark chocolate.

Or of the bottle, also over four hours, strong bilberry, tar, rose. But the tannins were very present, more enjoyable with food. Similar finish.

Opened, not decanted, for four hours.
Bilberry, cherry, raspberry, truffle, chocolate. Form tannins and good acidity. Two bottles, one was more truffle and the other more bilberry.

A bit of black currant bud, especially when it's warmer. A little linden, muscat, and quite a bit of citrus. Not as much acid as I'd anticipated. Went nicely with a spicy pork ramen.

Initially very reductive and bitter. Over the next hour tannins started coming out. Seemed very sensitive to temperature, above 65f seemed thin and disappointing.

On day two, dark berries, green notes, slightly reductive, much more enjoyable.

Bilberry, pepper, blackberry, truffles on the nose. Tannins take some time to appear. Medium mouth feel, somewhat but but lasting finish. Even day two, very solid, hardly any change. Should've had some food with it.

This must be similar soil or other conditions, to Domaine de la Cote. Slightly less umami and saline, but otherwise quite similar.

Beautiful violet and liquorice nose. Perfect acidity balanced with silky tannins. Nice somewhat fruity finish. Every once in a while, I feel like I can taste a blackberry seed... Delicious.

A bit in the simple side. Initially heavy liquorice on the nose and strong tannins. Not much of a finish. Improved after about two hours, dark fruits. Perhaps poor qpr

Oaky nose dominated for a while. Bracingly acidic, not too creamy. But perhaps not a very good QPR?

Initially muted, but quickly opened up. Somewhat nutty, maybe almond skins, on the nose, with something floral and slightly oaky. The mouth feel is a bit creamier than I anticipated. Not as much minerality as I'm accustomed to, in a Sauv Blanc. Looong finish. A bit too young. But delicious.

The nose was initially like a freshly cut blackberry. But then the palette had some chocolate and tobacco. Restrained, infinitely drinkable and a nice finish. As it opened in the bottle, tannins came forward. Felt slightly imbalanced. It certainly needs more time, looking forward to tracking its evolution.

Glad I haven't seen somm iii yet, my expectations haven't been tainted.

Pop and pour, it's a nose of forest floor, raspberry. Initially a bit flat. Perhaps some sweetness? Salinity and umami are present. The fruits are more forward on the palette. But the finish was long and a bit minty. Initially the acid was on prominent and the tannins were fairly mute.

We kept the bottle chilled, and over the next hour or so, so it oxidated in the bottle...

As it opened up fruits started to show more. And finally the tannins arrived. Silky and balanced. I kinda wish I'd decanted it... But definitely an enjoyable journey.

Day one, cassis and vanilla and oak. Not much of a finish. The tannins began to assert themselves after about an hour.

Day two, things are more interesting. The fruit is much more apparent, blackberry, cassis. Less oak influence, better balanced overall.

This keeps getting better. The last bottle was incredibly precise. Smoky, fruity, forest floor. Acidity and incredibly fine tannins in perfect balance. An incredibly pleasurable wine.

Initially, heavy oak influence, hints of berry and fine grained tannins. As it opened, in the bottle, over two hours, the licorice subsided somewhat and raspberry, prune, and maybe some black currant appeared. Overall not too much of a finish and medium mouth feel. The tannins cut right through the fatty sisig dish I had with it.

Initially a pleasant mix of red fruits and baking spice and vanilla on the nose. But the alcohol, though low, was a little distracting. Gentle but present tannins. Not much of a finish.

On day two much more interesting. A bit smokey, red fruit. Tannins are more integrated. The alcohol isn't so up front.

Initially heavy tobacco with a hint of dank earth, and something sightly green. Not much fruit. Subtle tannins.

Over three hours, the fruit began to find its way. Notes if bilberry and pepper. Silky tannins also asserted themselves. A decent finish of spice and subtle fruit mixed with tobacco.

Overall a nicely balanced glass, once it opened up.
