Better than most Jumailla 100% monastrell. No barnyard bouquet. Syrah blend removes some of the rustic byte. Finish is a reasonable blend of acid and tannin. A good value for the price.

The balance on the finish was a bit sharp upon initial opening. The next day the balance had softened and the wine drinks well without food.

Strong start for a young 2014 vintage, 100% monastrell, kept a few bottles for a couple of years of aging. Didn't have the typical monastrell barn yard aroma, closer to a merlot. Smooth finish with a balance level of tannin.

Drank next to a Castano 100% monastrell of the same year. Though blended with cabernet the wine had a harsh mid-finish. Kept the Castano, didn't finish the Gordo

For a Bourgogne white the wine lacked character in both smell and taste. It smells barely like peach blossom and finish is slightly acidic.

5-10 years ago the wine would probably receive a much lower rating, but it's ready to drink and will give you it's full potential for an modestly priced bottle. At a purchase price in the mid 20's it's far smoother and provides a longer tannin and leather finish than any California Cabernet priced within $10.

The wine looks ruby colored. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like mushroom, molasses and chocolate. It tastes like nutmeg. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

The 2nd half of the bottle was enjoyable after decanting in-bottle for 2-3 days. The air exposure softened a finish that was a bit too sharp on 1st open. Tannin was minimal, some earthiness. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like mineral. It taste was pleasant, but the body was medium-light. The wine has round texture. The wine has low acidity after a few days of exposure. A solid bottle of north Medoc at a modest price for the number of years.
