Wow, this has really gotten better. It still has nice aromas - cocoa, earth, dark berries some cola now. Palate has caramel, cocoa, dark fruit, smooth tannins vs. strong tannins previously. Finish is smooth and compliments the overall taste. I'll probably drink the last ones I have next year. Time to enjoy, but no rush yet.

2005 Hewitt Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford
I suspect this was an off bottle as it was undrinkable; not corked, but the nose had this weird soy sauce, peppery nose that was nothing like cabernet; the palate was hot, disjointed, and unpleasant. I tried decanting for 2 hours with no change. Unsure exactly what the flaw was, but this was terrible.

    10/29/17, 9:31 AM - We have/had a couple cases of the '05 in our cellar and have drank 2/3rds. We too have experienced similar tastings with 2 bottles but the rest have been stellar.
