Crazy wine.

It started out somewhat oxidized, but the more air it got, the more beautifully expressive the wine became.

apricot, lichee, dragon fruit, passion fruit and pineapple - A LOT of exotic fruit came blowing out the glass. It appeared still very much youthful.
though it had some signs of its age, it was not overwhelming but very much welcomed. Great great wine, in a great place now. Should be enjoyed now and over the next 5 years. Will not improve from this point.

This just drinks beautifully now after a 2 hrs decant. however, based on that fact some few more years in the cellar would do this wine magically.

This was a bit muted in the beginning. However, after a few twurls the bouquet of pencil shaving, muskiness, incredibly summer heated clay dust and creme de casis blew out the glass - still keeping its elegance and somewhat feminine touch.
Never going full masculine like other Lynch Bages from greater vintages have before.
I must admit I quite adored the more "Controlled" glass of this wine.

This was a really great bottle and luckily, still half of an OWC in the cellar.

This turned to a straight up beauty after 45-60 minutes of air.

Meat, dark cherries, black currant, smoke (birch/other really dry wood chips) and dry lavender.
This wine still have loads of power!

This is still a baby and will need a good amount of years before it becomes truly ready.

This is a bit modernistic in the presentation of both nose and flavours. It has slight too much oak however giving it time, allowing it to settle a bit in the glass, the pinot characteristics like rose petal, gunpowder and cherries came along and it turnt into a really fun wine.

This was a poor provenance.

Hard to really describe as it has a great taste (within 1st 15 min and then tired out) but the nose was wrong from the get-go.

Unfortunately, as I have had 2 magnums from same vintage which blew out 1990 Gruaud Larose, 1983 Mouton and 86 Latour amongst other big vintage grand chateaux.. However, this bottle was normal format with mid-top shoulder fill. However, it has sweet red berries and barnyard/wet hay and summer dry clay.. But quickly turned quirky and Tawnish..

Normal format holders - DRINK UP! Magnums.. Just let them rest for another 10-12 years or enjoy hugely right now.

From Magnum, high fill..

So beautiful and well alive, this wine just exploded and kept growing through the drinking period. We finished the bottle rather quickly as it was so good and we were all in a soif-mood!

Beauitful plum, dark chocolate, forrest floor, dusty attic and some mushroom notes, even some light dark berries come to mind. Great bottle.

Great QPR in this.

Light cherries and rose petal notes. Quite floral and feminine. Great for chuggin om warm nights.

Going to be better with a bit more ageing.

Wow - even in this "lesser" vintage, the majestical Bonnes Mares showed it true power.

First off, the nose had to settle. Some noted of VA was present and ofc., I was concerned. However, letting it breath for 30 air the VA evaporated and fruit came back to life giving us those perfectly big juicy summer red strawberries, fat plummy cherries. The oak was big and bald and the Autumn notes of dry leaves and mustiness was all there. Big wine.

the palate showed up as well. More fat and meat was present than usual. The tannins had still some grip, eventhough not as tight, but giving the wine that needed structure. THis was a wonderful wine.

Drink now or hold for 2 years. This is to be fully critical past its peak, however still really enjoyful!

I am just spellbound by Cathiard..

I want, I must, I need, I deserve!

Beautiful dark unripe cherries with perfect stoney minerality and salivating oak integrated (i.e. Tannins still harsh but boy oh boy are they welcomed!)

This has everything and will improve. If tasted blind I promise no one will think it's village!

Good anount of fruit left, dry summer heave and dusty attic, this was quite charming.

Still has a few years left in drinking window

This needs a lot of time in the cellar yet!

Great aromas of thick rose petals, summerripe cherries and drying wood. Not as much minerality but more flesh notes. Great wine in the making for sure!

The nose was pure joy. Wow oh wow! Everyone was convinced that this was a big older Burgundy!

However, the palate was not as great but regained it’s strength over time. Very animalistic, vegible, Earthy, autumn barbeque and bold!

Should be enjoyed now!

This was a beauty.

Great fill - The aromas popped straight out of the bottle.

The nose gave hints of chocolate, toasted brazilian coffee beans, Moccha, Eucalyptus, Cohiba tobacco (aged), Jamon Iberico, and summer musk! This was a true display.

The palate followed through - even more cassis, red and dark berries, delicious black currant and some great eucalyptus again. Even more cedar and tobacco on the palate and that delicious heavy grilled game that is sweet but also strong in the taste. not as much grilled green bell pepper as one could expect but this was actually adding to the freshness and elegance. Sublime wine for a lesser vintage.

And the artwork.. Wow, Denmarks own Per Kirkeby, may he rest in peace among Picasso, Marc Chagall and Paul Delvaux!

Drink now or hold for another 5-7 years. At its peak right now!

Very interesting nose, but the palate was rather muted. But really intoxicating nose..

The vintage was no longer readable but the owner bought it in the 50-60’s..

A straight homerun with this bottle!

Intense aromas of beatuiful dark berries, creme de cassis, sweet tobacco of a paragas D2, humidor, cedar. This was an excellent show of the healthy bottles of 90!

Oh wow! It was still very straight forward on the primary fruit, however the secondary notes complimented well! The tannins were greatly integrated - this sucker is ready for popping corks!

Fill was perfect, cork was good.

Incredible young and etheral!

Casis and young black berries and strawberry blew out of the glass! Then tobacco and grilled green bell pepper took over as primary note but only subdued the fruit marginally.

Could have fooled anyone to think late eighties/mid nineties Bordeaux

This was incredible satisfying and nowhere near close to its last strides.

Drink now or hold for another decade easily!

From the 90's. Perfect time for opening this bottle as slight oxidation (meant as a compliment) was showing.

Heavy roasted coffee beans with delicious peach-sugar. Then the darkly burnt brioche kicked in with mouth-watering acidity and rose petals to balance everything.

This bottle had huge expectations to live up to.. This did just not quite do it. It was almost in a sleeper-stage, unforunately. (from magnum).

Dark, clear color. Creme de casis, musk, summer ripe cherries, strong havanna tobacco, smoke, and cedar.
Black currant, burnt leather, spices with good intensity, and sandalwood/cedar.

This still have a lot of years left.

This was just a huge joy. Very feminine and light compared to the big brawny Pauillacs enjoyed earlier that night. Notes of black fruit, cassis, blueberry, hints of lavender, eucalyptus, pencil shaving, dark chocolate and flint. Velvety, silky, airy and polished, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, very fine tannin.

Still a decade worthy before starting to reach window (and should stay for another 3-4 decade in that window).

This was a little austere but lacked the strength. Died out over 45-60 minutes. But was an immense joy to drink in said window.

Menthol, camphor, tobacco, and cigar box. There was also a cherry component light burgundy-red Color, candied sugar, honey, very dense and nice sweetness, bergamonte tea, rose petals. This was just so beautiful!

Enjoy now.

Mature notes of dark fruit, earth, leather, smoke, tobacco and those salty chunks in 48 month aged Comté. The depth on the palate was truly sensational and this hit every taste bud. It became more saline and meaty with air. Did not lose it strides.

Should be enjoyed now and over the next 5 years

The fruit lasted 10 min then the secondary and tiertiary notes took the lead! Incredible white pepper and dusty books was uplifting and the color regained structure and pureness. A great little surprise for lunch
