Decanted two hours, drank over another 3, still tannic and tightly wound to the end. Will likely improve with 5-10 years but very disjointed currently. Tons of fruit though, definitely a work in progress.

Dark purple robe, nose of sweet blackberry and cherries. Mouth is smooth black cherry and blackberry liqueur. Supple tannins, a really really nice wine. 30 minute decant for this review.

Super dark purple robe, nose of blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry. very smooth on the palate, bright fruits, with minimal tannins or acids, very singular, I struggled to characterize it for a few minutes until I realized that there was no oak at all, no vanilla, no toast. Interesting, will have to see how it develops. Only a week or two off the truck so maybe bottle shock? I won't buy anymore until I know how this ages. Still have the pretty woman to compare and I'll give that some time.

Dark ruby/purple robe. A massive wine, nose is tannic, almost off putting at first but with 1-2 hrs decant it softens considerably. Red and black cherries dominate with hints of cassis, blueberry, minerals. In the mouth it still has edges of tannin and alcohol, but enough fruit to make it enjoyable on its own and downright delicious with a steak. Again a massive wine, will be great in 3-5 years though most people will have drunk this entry level wine by then. And what a fine entry level it is.

2 hour decant. Medium/dark purple robe, nose of blackberry, black currant, black cherry, minerals, vanilla, cassis, green herbs. In the mouth lively black, blue and red fruits are present and it is super smooth. Absolutely fantastic, for the price this punches way above its weight. I've had a few bottles of this but for some reason this one is superlative.

Dark ruby robe, initial nose of tart black and red cherries, softened with a 1 hour decant to include some blue fruit and florals. Smooth mouthfeel, slightly more and and tannin than I remember from 2014. Will definitely benefit with a couple years rest or a longer decant.

Dark ruby robe, initial nose of barnyard and dust, after a 2 hour decant blackberry, prune, blackcurrant predominate, but never really improved over 4 hours. Missing the Lafite richness, last 1996 was decanted 12+ hours, maybe too young? Not sure, but not worth 1k.

Ruby red robe, nose of red cherry, currant, orange, spice. Mouth is sweet and lush, tannins smooth with a 1-2 hour decant. This is a rich and fruit forward wine, the nose could easily be confused for a precocious round cali pinot noir. I'll hang onto the rest, at the moment its not really worth the price.

Dark ruby robe, nose of black and blue fruits, vanilla, though baking spices prevail. Sweet and smooth in the mouth. This is fantastic for the price. I was not impressed with my first Becklyn (a reserve, see my review) last year and almost didnt buy again but I decided to give them one more shot and am so glad I did, this is really phenomenal. I just tried to buy more but they are sold out. Will be drinking my remaining bottles soon!

Dark ruby robe, nose of black and red currants, blueberry. With decanting it evolves from a fresh red currant and light mouthfeel to black currants with a bit more heft. Very nice. I've never had a Screagle so can't compare. Have cause for celebration next year and plan to splurge on one so I will revisit with a comparison at that point. Also have some Second Flight in the cellar so I'll do a comparison to that too.

Tannins improved w/ decanting, will be really nice with a few more years in the cellar. Really enjoyed this one and felt that it drank really well with the decant, unlike some of the other reviewers.

Purple ruby robe, nose of black fruits and cherry, some oak, floral notes. Initially very tight and tannic but really came around by 4 hours in the decanter. Hold if you've got it, this needs 5-10 years but it is great if you decant.

Inky purple robe, nose of blackberry and black currant preserves, vanilla, oak, chocolate and a little licorish and funk. Smooth in the mouth, subtle tannins. I think it will be a 95+ with a few years, seems to have the potential to age.

I tried it because I saw parker gave it a 97 and was pleased to see lws has a large stock for cheap. Robe is dark purple, nose black cherry, red cherry, blueberry, blackberry, minerals, herbs. In the mouth its smooth and enjoyable, a bit sweet, but in my mind its equivalent to every other high quality~30 cab out there. I would just as soon drink BV Rutherford, Conn Creek Anthology or Hilary Goldschmidt Charming Creek, as they are all similar quality for 25-30. I'll buy some more but this is not playing the same game as Realm, Hundred Acre, Harlan, Fait Main, etc... who have real 97+ wines from RP.

Nose of blueberry, blackberry, chocolate covered raspberry and minerals. Fresh and really nice. I think the first bottle I has was either off or in a dumb phase.

Dark garnet robe. A powerful nose of underripe raspberry, red cherry, and bramble, you can almost smell the tannin. In the mouth it is tannic and acidic with overwhelming cranberry notes. Becomes a bit more subdued with a couple hours in the decanter but nothing like the 2012/2013. I would give this 4-5+ years to soften up.

Dark purple robe, very smooth after a 1 hour decant, Floral nose with black and blue fruit predominating, enjoyable but rather thin and pedestrian, not much flavor for a mike smith wine. Not what I was expecting for the hype and definitely not memorable or worth the price. Never came around after a 4 hour decant. Also tons of tartrate crystals. Disappointed.

Dark opaque purple robe. One of the best noses I've had on a wine ever, blackberry, blackcurrant and milk chocolate from a few feet back. Nose faded a little in decanter. On the palate the tannins are chalky but present and there is a pronounced chocolate/espresso note with black and blue fruits. Stunning wine right off the truck, may be 98+ with a few years.

pear/peach, lemon...but the most compelling thing about this wine was a gripping tannic eruption that jumped in about 5 seconds after each sip. I struggled to explain it but now I think of it as the aftertaste of a very dry vintage champagne or a very well made hard apple cider. Delicious.
