Supposedly an entry level wine - $22 - lovely rich bouquet, very soft tannins, rich and concentrated. A very pleasant mid week wine.

A big mature wine with plenty of dark fruit and some chocolate - silky smooth - quite concentrated and a lovely long after glow - probably one of my best reds - only have a few cos it’s just too expensive now.

Superb wine - decanted for 3 hours - velvet smooth - drinking well now for me - had alongside Chateau Dutruch Grand Poujeaux 2012 which was also very nice - though preferred Sophia

Well cellared - silky smooth - a good example of quality NZ Syrah

2006 Stonyridge Vineyard Larose Waiheke Island Red Bordeaux Blend (view label images)
Requires some decanting - takes a while to open up in the glass - older vines noticeable - earthy but softer tannins coming through - although further celllaring could yield an even silkier Wine
Overall tho I am pleased with this after cellaring at around 14 deg for many years - still a few bottles to go of this vintage

A lovely soft Syrah - quite sweet and less spicy than other Syrahs. Very soft tannins, instantly appealing. Nice long finish. Excellent with food. Happy to buy again. Still a couple in the cellar to try later, though I do like the fruit now.

This is an outstanding NZ Bordeaux not really appreciated around the country because its a relatively small vineyard and most do not spend $50 a bottle. However I discovered this vineyard on a biking trip many years ago and have purchased dozens of the years including their Pinot Gris which the ladies really enjoy. The Gold Label Cab Merlot is up there with the top Bordeaux's in NZ. 2013 was a superb vintage for the Gimblett Gravels so I have a number of bottles. This is the first and comes with lots of plum and tannins, and although a pleasure to drink already after some breathing, I expect the tannins will continue to soften so that another 5 - 8 years of cellaring will be rewarding. That's my plan.

Just getting to know French reds but this was really nice - soft and easy drinking, more mature background than NZ reds - be happy to buy again.

Superb Bordeaux blend - still full of fruit with nicely rounded tannins. Always a good buy. Likely to keep well for a few more years yet.

Starting to mellow now with tannins softening. After breathing for a period, opens up into a very warm mouthful of fruit and a touch of chocolate on the nose. Very good value for money at $20. Brookfields has been a favourite vineyard for some time with their Gold Label cab/merlot being a mazing.

I rate this as outstanding, one of the nicest NZ Syrah's I have had - although it is young the tannins are already very smooth, a complex but fresh wine and i am looking forward to the rest of the case over the coming years. 2013 was an outstanding year by all accounts for the Gimblett Gravels region, so its worth buying a few extra to put away. Very good buying at NZD$40/bottle.

For me this is outstanding Chardonnay from a relatively young vineyard (planted 1989). Quite youthful, stone fruit on the nose, toast, and then a very long, smooth butter snd creamy finish. Buy again.

Superb - probably my favourite Pinot in NZ - pity the property has been sold and so no more Craggy Range Calvert. Earthy, mature berries, very smooth.

Familiar though delicate Central Otago fragrance. Gentle, soft tannins. A warm , concentrated wine with lots of depth and silky smooth to drink. Could probably cellar for longer without losing anything.

Pouring the wine into a lovely big glass you know you're in for something special - a very dense dark colour. Beautiful nose - strong berries. An opulent wine, concentrated and very well rounded - full of blackberries with some complementary spice. My type of wine that I would buy any time again. Wish I had some more !

For me, quite seductive on the nose, quite complex and still reasonably tight - could age some more - though I'm a fan of the strong red berries. Pretty good value for money compared to big brother Coleraine.
