Not as enjoyable as the last bottle. It's still robust, but rather than the good fruit notes, there was more cured meats, and the oak was much more evident. Maybe a dud bottle (curse that cork nonsense). It's still OK, plenty of dark fruit and firm, grippy tannins.

I suspect I have some "export" version of the wine. A lot of export stuff is still under cork. Or, some winemakers are releasing their wines under both stelvin and cork, and then monitoring to see how they both go. Might contact Bleasdale to get the story.

Blackcurrants, plums and smokey notes on the nose. Dark fruits on the palate with medium tannins and background oak. A few reviews (on Vivino particularly) have noted big tannins but that isn't the case with this bottle. An approx 70/25/5 blend of Cab Sauv, Merlot, PV, it's a nice enough expression of left bank Bordeaux. For the price paid (in Aus) does it hold a candle to Voyager Estate or Yeringberg? Not really. Does come in a nice wooden box though, but you can't drink wooden boxes. :)

I paid AUD $64 bottle for this here in Aus. Everything imported is overpriced in Aus unfortunately :)

Seems like a polarising wine looking over reviews on other sites. Purple in the glass. Strong aromas of plums and spice on the nose. The palate is big and bold dark fruits, a spicey/peppery mid palate, some oak coming in at the end and solid tannins underpinning the whole thing. I drank this over two nights and didn't notice any dramatic degradation between the two. I have a bunch left, so will try one/year to see if cellaring helps

11/12/16, 2:37 AM - Thanks Bsmith457 for your feedback. By no means do I think this is a bad wine. 89-91 is my good range. A number of reviews said this goes downhill in the second day - not something I've noticed.

About an hour for the wine to open up: blueberries and some sweet strawberry flavours, with vanillan oak and chocolate notes as well. Smooth tannins. Long finish. Nice.

    7/1/16, 5:14 AM - Hi Chatters,
In my humble opinion, this is further along than the 2002, but it's still good drinking, and if it's on the downhill run, it's still early days. I've got four more, and I'm not going to be rushing out to drink them next week - good at least for the next one-two years. Will try another in 6-12 months and report back.
