Ruby. Closed but young. Medium bodied. Oak, black plum, red cherry, chocolate, slight hint of aging on palate. Well balanced. Tannic. Plenty of time ahead. May score higher when it opens up.

Ruby core with orange rim. Certainly seeing some developments here - mushroom, soil, dried herbs, game. Plum, baked cherries, dark chocolate, cedar. Tannin is prominent but the fruit might begin to fade. Better with food. Drink now.

This Macvin du Jura 2007 is made from 1/3 Marc from 2004 and 2/3 raisin juice from 2007. Bottled on 3 Dec 2020.
Amber colour. Orange peel, mint, caramel, very ripe melon and peach, with a bit of gasoline. It’s slightly sweet, furnished with Amontillado-like oxidative aromas. The more concentrated fruity aromas of Marc such as dried apricot and mandarin stand out. Very clean, and it's more expansive on palate than at nose. Won't feel the heat, this wine matches the festive December a lot!

Lovely gold colour. Expressive nose of the typical Bolly aromas, bread, apple, even honeyed. Round acidity on palate with amazing depth of ripe peaches and brioche. Very fine bubbles. Absolute treat but I still prefer the 16 version which has more red fruit aromas which I expect from a PN.

Medium ruby. A developing nose of flint, blackcurrant, red cherry, black plum, earth cedar and prune. It has good acidity and a bit of fine tanninl. Leather, chocolate, plum and oak are prominent on palate. Further ageing is possible but good to drink now with food!

Light and transparent ruby. Nose of toast, red cherry, raspberry, mineral and coffee. Refreshing acidity, flavoursome with a long finish. Sour plum, chocolate and almond. Tannin is still abundant but fine. It can certainly cellar for a few more years as it's still primary at the moment. More than what I've expected!

Clear medium lemon colour. Clean nose of lime, chalk, mineral, green apple, peach and mandarin. Round on palate with butter, honey, brioche, ginger, lemon peel, hazelnut and a bit of minerality. A good length of finish. Fruit is not strong for ageing but a bit of everything. A pleasure to drink now.

Ruby red. A traditional Bordeaux nose of graphite, earth and cigar, with prominent floral notes. Tannin has all resolved and texture is smooth. Starting to show tertiary aromas, wet soil, plum, baked fruit. Oak influence is still there, finish is light and mineral. An elegant Margaux. Drink now!

Lovely amber colour. It has an intriguing nose of dried apricot, honey and caramel. Smooth on palate. Sweet potatoes, mineral, peaches, apricot, yellow flowers etc. It has a really undoubtedly long and enjoyable finish with underlying acidity. No clumsy mouthfeel but a clean and neat ending.
It actually reminds me of the 1967 Ch. d'Yquem and the 1961 Ch. Coutet. Sounds a bit old but that's the experience - complex and well presented and ready to drink. I would say it's still behind Ch. d'Yquem 1995 and 1996, but it's just behind as the first two are more fruity and youthful. I too expect it to evolve further into something like the 1959 Ch. Coutet which tastes more concentrated. This wine has the potential (fruit and acidity).

I have been looking for this specific Meursault for a few years. Exclusive for Fine+Rare now.
Pale yellow hue. The nose comes with green apple and other citrus aromas. On palate, stonefruit and peach flavours blossoms. Refreshing acidity accompanies the long-missed full and oily texture of a traditional Meursault. Tasty right now after breathing.
The wine is still very young and requires extra cellar time to get more vivid and complex. From my personal experience of this wine before (i.e. 2010 vintage), this wine should have much more to offer.

Purple red, crystal clear. It has a prominent nose of oak and rich fruits which I miss. Newer Bordeaux tend to have a lighter touch on wood. On palate it is smooth and round, with every flavours that you’d expect from a Saint-Julien. Plums, raspberries and a bit of pencil shaves. The finish is lingering. Very nicely made and it has a decade to come before getting more developed.

Light shiny yellow hue. Typical nosing of a white Burgundy, apple, pomelo, jasmine and mineral. Unexpectedly bold on palate. It is indeed slightly mature that gives bake fruit/bakery aromas which I find attractive (not oxidative). Finish is rather short but clean. Good as an aperitif and unbeatable at this price point.

Deep ruby red. Nose is a bit green at first, later evolved into coffee and plum. Very rich and round, lots of dark fruits filling your mouth with typical floral notes of Margaux. Elegant yet powerful and concentrated. Finish with prominent dark chocolate flavour and tannin on mid palate. Delicious on its own.

Very close to the expression of Chateau Tertre 2015. I see great improvement in their wines and it's pleasantly surprising. The only concern is that if they make a 2014 this bold, will that in better vintages, they will lose their Margaux elegance?

Typical nose of a Bordeaux blanc. Stone fruit, bell pepper and a hint of mineral. Aromas intensify on palate and the wine gives a refreshing acidity. Slightly bitter finish that is rather short. Simple wine that at this price point you can find better alternatives.

A limited edition from Louis Jadot. Only made in good year by blending juices from various Beaune 1er Cru plots. The previous was in 2009. Cristal clear ruby. Expressive nose of red currant and forest. Amazing fruit and mineral, still slightly tannic. Refreshing. Outstanding quality at this price point. Still have a decade to go and should get a dozen more!

PS very much improved from previous tasting note when tasted young.

Ruby red. Nose of sea breeze, mint and leather. Fresh red fruits on palate, rather diluted but surprisingly young. Oaky finish with well balanced acidity. Tannin is a bit rough. It's one of the softest Haut Bailly I've ever tasted, even more so than the 1997. Great effort in this difficult vintage, but I'd recommend getting a 2007 for pretty much the same price.

A stunning wine at this level, and will age for a decade effortlessly. This Bourgogne shows better than Côte de Nuits Villages Aux Montagnes.

If you're to drink it now for its freshness and delicacy, decant for a few hours.

No formal notes taken. A similar expression as Benoît Ente. Minimal oak influence, true to the terroir. Precise balance of fruit and acidity, a pleasant drink.

Finely made for lighter and mild palate. Tho I'd prefer Arnaud Ente's.

Charles Lachaux Côte de Nuits Villages Aux Montagnes 2019
Vines planted in the 60s. 100% whole cluster, punched down only twice by foot. Bottled after a little less than a year in used barrel, it’s a mysterious Côte de Nuits Village rouge. Mineral at first, later revealed layers of rose, jasmine and lily. Sourdough, red cherries, white pepper, mint. Very fine tannin. Tight.

Day One
In glass for three hours. Attractive nose of violet, pencil shaves and leather. Soft on palate with fine but abundant tannin. Cassis, wood and graphite on palate. Not fully opened indeed. Refined acidity in the very long finish. Lots of potential.

Day Two
Kept the rest in bottle (only poured one glass on day one). Opulent nose of cassis, ginger and mineral. Much softer on palate than the day before. Minty and juicy. Closed.

Day Three
After 68 hours from the first pour, with 2/3 still in the bottle, the wine finally re-opens and shows the class and complexity. Sea breeze, violet, leather. Dark chocolate, sour cherries. Silky and incredibly long finish. Balancing acidity and fine tannin. Classic.

Clos Lunelles has been an outstanding Castillon. Impressive wines from 2003 and 2010 and this 2016 is no exception. Very rich and intense purple red colour. Nose is not too expressive. Leather, oak and ripe red fruit. Fine tannin with a long finish of wood, plum, black tea and violet. I'd appreciate more if the acidity is higher. Reasonably priced and highly recommended. I won't say it can last for ages, but 10 years will do effortlessly fine.

This cuvee is the top cuvee of the Château. Waxed. It had been made into austere style wine with power but this has been changed. The 2015 Clos de Londres is an aromatic and subtle wine. Nose of mint, spices and a bit of leather. Strong dark ripe fruit on palate, a bit of earth, a touch of bitterness has also added weight to it. Long finish with fine tannin. The richness resemble some northern Rhône wines. Very well made and has improved a lot. If you want a serious Moulin-à-Vent, this is the one to go. Will keep for a decade.

Pale colour of gold. Expressive aromas of oak, cream and white peach (and to me somewhat typical nose of Lucien Le Moine). A traditional Chassagne. Round and flavoursome, acidity is here but not razor sharp. Nutty, buttery. Long finish. Very pleasure to drink now.

A traditionally modern Bordeaux (To me, before 2000 is the real traditional, after 2013 is the new modern). Nose of sweet licorice and wood, mint and dark cherries. Long finish of dark chocolate, tannin is fine. Morderate acidity balances everything. Sweet and enjoyable. Feels like having a 2012 La Conseillante back then, a lot less concentrated of course.

Light golden yellow. A fantastic nose of honey, sweets and some bell pepper. Quite expansive yet gentle on palate. Oak is still prominent, can even taste a bit bitterness at the back. A long long finish of guava and sweet potato. I'd prefer keeping it for a few years more as it tastes way too young now.
It's definitely better than the 2014 which is more angular and austere. I suppose the wine will only get better as the replanted vines get older.

A superb wine. Colour starts to fade and is a bit cloudy, but not the aromas. It delivers intense leather and forest aromas both at nose and on palate. Structure is still strong that the acidity is not taking over. The fruit has became tertiary and it more on the ripe red cherries side. It is round and smooth on palate, not at all angular. It is best for those who enjoy old, developed wines. Should stay delicious for another 3-5 years before going down the slope, as fruit might not be sufficient to support extended cellaring.

Cheval des Andes has always been delivering well. Dark and firm colour. It almost smells like perfume with sweet cassis and a hint of wood. Tannin is mostly resolved, leaving behind a very good structure of complexity. It's juicy with plums and oak, acidity is enough to bring a balance so you won't feel that's being too heavy. Will continue to live for another 10 years at least, yet it's a good timing to open it now to drink it slow to see the amazing changes.

Tasted side-by-side with the 2014. This 2015 is getting some orange-red hue that kind of surprised me given the relatively young age. Similar to most of the premium red wine from China, it carries distinctive aromas of Chinese medicine, accompanies by rich dark cherries and cassis. As compared to the 2014, I preferred the elegance and integration of the 2015. It is also smoother on palate, with equally strong aromas and balancing acidity. It would be a treat to taste now, but it'd be interesting to see how it ages and delivers in the future.
