4/4/23, 11:33 PM - Heater week - bad week to be a Fritz Haag :’(
7/7/22, 11:37 PM - A not insignificant amount of VA on this particular wine for me, too
2/25/22, 7:27 AM - We'll redo - don't think those wines are natty at all. Admittedly some tough competition from the wines on the table around it.
7/31/21, 8:09 AM - Going to say this is probably more the issues of '06 than Dauvissat, but we both know we typically diverge our enjoyment of the producer as a whole.
8/22/19, 10:24 PM - Not always a clear direction that they will mellow; in fact, generally the opposite. Most sour beer will increase in acidity over time. I generally do not like American sours with much age. Off color would fall in the group that does well with more time.
6/5/19, 12:09 AM - Yes. Vivacity is definitely the descriptor I’d give this, all other adjectives eliminated. So much to say. Thanks again.
3/20/19, 9:56 PM - I told you!
2/11/19, 1:50 PM - Haha, were these airport/airplane wines?
1/17/19, 2:37 PM - Do you see wines like this and some of the other DPR wines (the 2012 vintage of the same wine) that show a bit thin in youth gaining weight and fleshing out on the palate with age?
11/28/18, 9:19 PM - It’s not always definitive, though for the most part, wax tops are not the Vineyard Brands import bottles (have never seen one with wax). I’m not sure if this is still the case, but in the 00’s, Dauvissat would bottle the US imports a few months earlier than the French bottlings. Fwiw, I’ve always found the wax tops to be a bit more complete in terms of minerality, body, and fruit. With that said, not all European bottlings I’ve encountered have been waxed, so the distinction isn’t as cut and dry as I’d like.
