Much better showing than the other CT notes- or I'm just more a fan. Bright fruit, slightly unctuous, but not overwrought. Enough acid for reshness. Young. Peachy. Really good with the sweet potato dessert.

This caught some good solar energy in 2015. More elegant than typical youthful Pommard. Slight secondary burgy aromas- fresh on the palate, red berry fruit. Juicy but lean. No harm in drinking now. quite nice. BM continues to shine for me.

Smells like tea and fresh spring flowers. Rich and textured, really rich and dense. Rather packed. Good balance of ripe fruit, structure, and good tension and length. Pretty terrific.

Very good. Very young. More structure than some 17s I've had. Serious Meursault. For me, needs a little time.

A Good Wednesday: Bertheau x3, Arnoux, Geantet Pansiot, Niellon, Guffens Heynen; 3/20/2024-3/22/2024: Blind #2...Coravin....Slightly funky, meaty, tertiary nose. Most different of the other two Bertheau blinds. Really woke up with air. Seemingly least ready, even moreso than Bonnes Mares. Needs air, than quite nice.

A Good Wednesday: Bertheau x3, Arnoux, Geantet Pansiot, Niellon, Guffens Heynen; 3/20/2024-3/22/2024: Intense red fruit. Perhaps the most Chambolle-ish of the wines on the table in that it's got no hard edges at the moment. Very elegant- cherry fruit- menthol- sophisticated- slightly ripe. Good table wine, if you get my point. If only it was half today's asking price.

Core of sweet fruit. Good texture. Sharp tartness in middle. Edgy. More weight- Rich. Big, impressive wine that holds it own

This is indeed a bit of a mashup of German Riesling with a burgundy sensibility. It’s not showing especially complex right now, but it’s very drinkable. A edgy tart fruit and present minerality. Might have some stuffing to evolve for a few years. Will see. Needs another gear.

This stuff is fantastic at entry level. Butter popcorn and wonderful acid streak with minerality and saline. Lush and supple. A good still wine at its core that happens to have bubbles.

Meursault weight and a rather round, phenolic ripeness. Palate shows a silky rich fruit and lower than ideal acidity (for me). A real pleasure in a hedonistic sense. Good to drink in its youth, but enough here to age a while longer.

Echo the previous notes in CT- full of upfront juicy goodness right now. Not a lot of depth or length, but easy to drink juicy pinot that has an au naturale feel.

Having a weird run of flawed bottles. And I'm a Pepe fanboy. 16, 18, 19 Trebbianos have been oxidized (beyond appropriate), or funky, or both. Just a bad run lately.
White
Hate to report that this bottle was advanced. Not undrinkable, but too far into oxidation than it should be at this point in its evolution.

Love what JeanMarie Guffens is up to these days. White Burg nose, sligthest hint of gunflint along with lemon/minerality/white fruit. Ripe fruit, but bracing acidity. A laser beam of acid at first. More minerals come on. Quite nice at this level. Very young- watch where this goes in time.

Agree with the negative notes. There's either bottle variation going on, or This is a total miss in 15. And not like Champet. Ripe, but hard. Angular and hollow. Just no balance and no desire to drink this if I'm being honest.

Some gunflint. Clean orchard fruit. Fairly open and ready to go. Rather round like Meusault almost. No hard edges. Good wine.

2018 Domaine Trapet Chambertin Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir (view label images)
Always special to drink Chambertin. Even young. There's a regality to this wine. The nose is complex- Asian spice- licorice-tea-cinnamon. Oak spice. It's young, but sophisticated. Expansive on the palate. So supple and great length. Special wine with years to go...Thanks @Pinot_Geek

Young. Very clean and lean. Chablis-like cut. Not a ton of depth to the wine, yet it's a wine of sophistication. It's a good, if slightly unremarkable Champs Gain.

Echoing the note prior to mine- this is Burgundy. Another gem bottle of Merme Bel-Air. Great dirt there, Bel-Air. Sous bois, autumnal nose. Just beginning to get tertiary. Sappy red fruit that is balanced and bright and just makes ya smile. Juicy 15. Still a good bit in reserve. Very good wine with years to go. In today's Burgundy dollars, this is a great buy. lol

Much better showing than the 16 last year. 15 just better year. Lively energy. Sappy sweetness with a wiry acid streak. Refreshing in that way. Green apple. Long finish. Lovely balance with some salinity. A Chablis ringer all day. Good wine.

Really needed some air to wake up. Was rather concentrated and felt a tad heavy-handed at first. Darker fruit. Nose is primary, but pinot, for sure. After about an hour its more elegant, and intense without much weight. Bourgogne, yes, drinks like village or above, and really could stand some time for my palate.

Really one of my all-time favorite rieslings, or wines, for that matter. That layered nose of petrol and apricot and honey. I love the petrol on this one. Layers of orchard fruit-apricot-peach spiked... and that acidity! The '01 acidity is here for days. Yet, the balance is impeccable. Finishes with a chiseled sweetness that just coats the palate with energy. Hard to resist.

I like the GB whites lately. Youthful, edgy, precise. Hints of oak, rather broad palate. Medium body. Puckering acidity right now, with a good dose of citrus fruit. Drinking well, but still young.

I initially thought this was just so mildly corked. However, it was just a bit dusty and needed an hour in decanter to wake up. With significant air, it presents still coiled, but with terrific freshness and a polished and youthful red fruit. Long, cool finish that clamps pretty hard. This one still needs time or air for ideal drinking.

Lighter weight. Good color. Fruit ever so slightly stewed-moving beyond tertiary. Nut there's a good healthy, shiny fruit here. No real acid to speak. But it's clean, soft, and easy to drink.

See what Pinot Geek said- Especially this part: With airtime and a decant, this rounded out and improved, yielding more light fruit, a bit of spice, mint, coconut. 13.5% Alc. OK now, but clearly this is not ready. I’d suggest waiting until 2028+ to try this again.

Blind for others. Slight reduction. Matchstick on palate more than nose. Rich-rounder than the other white on the table- A powerhouses- real Chard with backbone and an oily, rich palate. Really pops with air. Great wine that outshone the baby Batard on the table.

Definitely the entry-level Was. Translucent cranberry to almost rusty-blood orange color. Floral, easy drinking, up-front comfort. But rather transparent in the middle. Somewhat like a light vintage Cru Fleurie. Just Good. imo

Really needs a couple hours. Initially it's pretty feral. A little green. Acid. Needs air. A lot of good Syrah stuff is hidden by a wild, herbal, funk. With air- a lot of air- a cool dark fruit emerges. At 3 hours open- it hits its stride- dark fruit- olive- barnyard, a cool mineral palate. Terrific Syrah that just needs lots of air.
