Other than Caymus who gets more for their juice. These are bulk grapes at best in these bottles with some Mega Purple thrown in. Sweet, watered down, brown sugar and damp earth. Again when people rate these are you applying the tasting process correctly? Love the appellation of California on these.

과실의 집중도가 훌륭했던 와인, 그러나 아직은 따지 말아야 했던 와인.
아주 쉽게 말하면 와인을 떫고 써서 안 마신다는 사람들이 마셨으면 역시 내 생각은 틀리지 않았어라고 할 와인.
쓰고보니 악평인 것 같지만 생각보다 (특히나 가격을 생각하면) 괜찮았던 와인.

노즈에서는 블랙 과실의 향기가 꽤나 강하게 느껴진다.
오크향이 느껴지긴 하는데 온도가 차갑게 서빙되어 그런지 아주 가볍게만 느껴진다.
곧이어 기분 좋은 바닐라 향이 나서 나쁘지 않았다.

팔렛에서는 일단 탄닌이 너무 빡빡하고, 바디감 역시 상당히 묵직하다.
호주 쉬라즈 느낌만큼이나 매운(?) 맛이 느껴지는데 나는 이걸 싫어하지 않긴 하는데 여튼 꽤 강렬하다.
밸런스가 분명히 깨져있는 건 맞는데 개인적으론 와인이 아닌 독주를 마시는 느낌이라 그리 나쁘지 만은 않았다.

Brauchte erst eine Weile Luft zum Atmen. Dann entwickeln sich Sauerkirsch- und Pflaumenaromen, Veilchen, Zigarrenbox, mineralische und sekundär-erdige Töne. Weicher Wein mit geschmeidigem, feinen Tannin; leider etwas zehrend und alkohollastig im langen. sonst hervorragenden Abgang.

Opened the bottle this morning, expecting to drink it in celebration of today's big election. Instead, we drank the bottle in quiet, sad consolation. A wonderful bottle of wine, and a terrible day for our country.

This was the last of my 6 bottles of 2011 Griffin and I believe it's reached its peak. We finished 3/4 of the bottle on the first night and polished it off on day 2. Unlike previous bottles which were better on day 2, this one was not. This is an outstanding cab blend for the money and I wouldn't hesitate to buy more if I could find it. Though with about 2 cases of 2012 and 2013 waiting in the wings, we're looking forward to tasting the younger brothers.
