Red cherry, cassis, and strawberry fruit. Notes of red licorice, tobacco, orange rind, earth, and spice. Firm acidity, nice tannin level, long finish.

5/12/20, 4:42 PM - I would. I have several left so wanted to see where it was at right now.

Very interesting. Tasted blind and I would have sworn this was a Napa Cab. Black fruits, subtle earth notes, firm tannins, long finish.

5/6/20, 5:51 PM - We did the same thing...thought it was dead ringer for a Napa Cab when we tasted it blind.

Just a flat out great wine right now and surprisingly approachable as it drank as if already had a lot more age on it. Red fruits with some grippy mushrooms and earth notes to it. Wonderful long finish.

4/27/20, 9:39 AM - Funny you mention that because even though I haven't yet, I just bought a bunch of '08 on auction and will be buying some '12 & '13 soon.

First go around with this wine, very impressed. Green apple, peach, pear, and lemon notes up front. Nice core with mineral notes, wet stone, and honey. Vibrant acidity, nice long finish.
  • brianofthevine commented:

6/27/18, 5:04 PM - Good to know, that's for the tip.

The fruit is that of cassis, black currant, and black cherry. Has some savory herbs, olive tapenade, leather, cedar oak, forest floor, and subtle cigar and tobacco notes. Smooth tannins at this point, decent finish. Good but not great.
  • brianofthevine commented:

6/5/18, 10:18 AM - I probably would, it's not going to get much better than it is right now.

Bright, tart, and concentrated fruit of red/black cherry and raspberry. Mocha and earth notes, firm acidity, decent finish. Still very tight, needs time to sit down a bit.
  • brianofthevine commented:

1/12/18, 5:38 PM - I don't have any of the '14s yet but I would imagine that they're pretty tight right now, but I agree that they make great Cab Francs!

Nice summer sipper here. Crisp wine with pineapple, honeydew melon, and lemon with mineral notes, crushed rock, and subtle honey on the end. High acidity on this one, decent finish.

7/14/17, 6:11 PM - A backyard and a nice view! Seriously, though, I just drank this one by itself because it was so easy to do so. Any appetizer or maybe seafood?

Crazy good right now, wow! Smooth black cherry, blackberry, and plum fruit with subtle eucalyptus notes. Very refined and balanced all around. Great, long finish, smooth tannins...oh boy!
  • brianofthevine commented:

4/22/17, 1:41 PM - Good question, it's been over a year at this point so don't necessarily remember that far back but I do know we decanted it up front. How long? Not sure. Regardless, it was pretty special!

This is pretty darn good. Rich wild berry and strawberry fruit with a creamy texture of earth and and black pepper notes. Wonderful balance and finish to this wine.
  • brianofthevine commented:

3/21/17, 10:17 AM - Ohh, great question...love Paso. Some of my go-to wineries are Torrin, Law, Epoch, Terry Hoage, and Villa Creek. I also really like Alta Colina, Dilecta, Nicora, and Ledge. Great juice up there...cheers!

  • brianofthevine commented:

3/21/17, 10:45 AM - Don't get me wrong, I do like Saxum and Booker as well...but I just can't get on their mailing list to get any of their wines! Bummer...great juice though.

Had at their tasting room in St. Helena. Black cherry and blackberry fruit with milk chocolate notes throughout. Great balance here with firm tannins on the end, nice long finish. Well done.
  • brianofthevine commented:

3/3/17, 5:17 PM - I think the Healy is more approachable now (and drinking very nicely) but I think the Morisoli will be my favorite over time. Cheers!

Wow, this is impressive! Dark blackberry and blueberry fruit with a huge core of earth, licorice, tar, and leather. Firm tannins, long finish, great juice, solid effort!

Similar notes as before, great effort.
  • brianofthevine commented:

6/26/16, 3:45 PM - With all due respect to that comment, these wines will age for quite a few years. I've been drinking Neal for a long time now and still have some bottles left from the early 2000's and those vintages are drinking great right now. This vintage will last, bury some for awhile.

Wow! Blackberry fruit with tar, earth, and smoke. The flavor is incredible with a beautiful long finish. Great wine.
  • brianofthevine commented:

3/6/16, 6:45 PM - I've had this bottle a couple of times now with the same tasting notes. The flavors are easy to define and right up my alley in terms of flavor profile. Stock up if you like it.

Man, this sucks! Not the wine. The wine is great. But the fact Match is gone. Great wine for this price or more. Im down to three 750ml and one mag of butterdragon.

Bummer.
  • brianofthevine commented:

9/15/15, 9:18 PM - Absolutely agree with you. Definitely bummed that Match is no longer around, great wine for the price, all things considered nowadays. Fortunately, I have a few more than you do but I will still miss his wines!
